Chapter 469 Killing the Zombie King
The zombie horde standing between the Zombie King and the investigation team was easily torn apart, leaving a huge gap.
The whole team rushed towards the Zombie King at lightning speed.
It was their first time seeing that white-haired monkey up close, who was guarded by six massive Bronze Elite Zombies, with one of them carrying it deeper into the subway.
"Capture it alive!" Otha shouted.
Leandro raised his black sniper rifle and aimed at the leg of the Bronze Elite Zombie carrying the white-haired monkey.
A white flash hit its slender leg joint, shattering it.
The Bronze Elite Zombie roared and fell to the ground, while the white-haired monkey on its shoulder screamed and rolled onto the ground.
At that moment, Theron charged forward with his knight's lance, pressing the muzzle against the monkey's head.
Fear flashed in the white-haired monkey's eyes, and it cowered on the ground without moving.
The surrounding Bronze Elite Zombies, seeing this, were too afraid to attack and could only growl menacingly at Theron, threatening him to let it go.
Otha's eyes were fixed on the white-haired monkey. Once he locked onto a target, escape was impossible; he could obliterate it in an instant.
The group approached the white-haired monkey, ignoring the Bronze Elite Zombies.
"So this is the Zombie King that commands the entire zombie army from the shadows?" Otha looked at the white-haired monkey on the ground and raised an eyebrow.
Lanny laughed heartily, "I thought this thing must be really powerful to control the zombie horde! Turns out it's so weak!"
Theron calmly said, "No, this makes sense."
"If it can control countless zombies, it means it's the brain of the horde or some kind of psychic control system."
"So, it's not surprising that it doesn't have so much power."
Eris, stroking her chin, murmured, "No wonder, even though it can control a massive horde, it doesn't dare to launch a full-scale attack on human forces."
"With its combat abilities, any adult could probably kill it. It needs a large number of zombies and Bronze Elite Zombies to protect it."
The surrounding Bronze Elite Zombies occasionally growled, but without the Zombie King's command, they clearly didn't know what to do.
Fear filled the white-haired monkey's eyes, and it contantly made strange sounds.
Otha pressed the gun against the monkey's head and coldly said, "Make them kill each other!"
A flash of hatred appeared in the white-haired monkey's eyes, and its cries suddenly grew louder.
The next moment, the six Bronze Elite Zombies roared and charged at the group!
The white-haired monkey realized it wouldn't survive and chose to go down fighting, knowing it would be tortured if captured.
But against absolute power, such struggles were futile.
Theron spat, gripped his knight's lance, and charged.
With a loud laugh, he charged at the six Bronze Elite Zombies alone like a war god, a black light enveloping his body.
With a swift swing of his massive lance, Theron sliced the six Bronze Elite Zombies clean in half, green blood and red bones fly everywhere.
This was the power of Theron—Just one strike, and Theron wiped them out!
But there were more than just six Bronze Elite Zombies; the tunnel echoed with the roars of zombies, summoned by the Zombie King!
"You're not behaving!" Otha coldly looked at the white-haired monkey under his gun, knowing it couldn't be kept alive.
If they didn't kill it, they'd be surrounded by the returning zombie horde.
No one knew how many zombies were lurking underground, and Otha wasn't about to take that risk.
So he decisively pulled the trigger, shooting the white-haired monkey right in the head!
Its body, similar to a human's, had nothing special, and the shot left a huge hole in its skull.
Eris took a body bag from her backpack and collected the lifeless body.
The group quickly left the subway, exiting through the nearest station to the surface.
On the surface, they saw an astonishing sight—Tens of thousands of zombies were converging from all directions on the snowy plains, yet they were now standing aimlessly, staring at the subway, moving clumsily and losing their purpose.
Otha said, "Without the Zombie King's control, these ordinary zombies won't act collectively."
Eris added, "Even with their numbers, they can't pose a threat to major human forces now."
Intelligent zombies and mindless ones were entirely different creatures.
The latter, though troublesome, could be dealt with, wasting only time.
Nearby zombies noticed them, eyes glowing red, and charged.
Otha said, "Let's go, don't get tangled with these things! They won't last long."
Without the Zombie King's command, zombies couldn't survive long.
As virus carriers, their bodies would quickly decay without food.
Otha's group had no interest in clearing the zombies, so they quickly left and returned to their parked vehicles.
Zombies had gathered there too, but they showed no interest in the cars.
After clearing some zombies, Otha's group drove off with the white-haired monkey's body.
Next, they would dissect the monkey and analyze its biological structure, aiming to uncover the secrets of the zombie horde and find a way to eliminate the zombie virus.
At least for now, they confirmed that such creatures were not uncommon in Starlight City.
Only by understanding its origin could they solve the problem at its root.
In the car, Eris donned a white protective suit and began dissecting the white-haired monkey on a surgical table.
Everyone awaited her findings.
The night passed without incident, and Starlight City endured another chaotic night.
As usual, several factions lost more people.
At dawn, Eris finally removed her white gloves.
The RV was cramped, and everyone took turns resting, each getting less than five hours of sleep.
Seeing Eris finish, they awaited her conclusion.
Eris looked at Otha and said, "The analysis is complete. This isn't a monkey or an ape. It's a human, or rather, it used to be human."
