Chapter 519 Glacier
With less than 24 hours before Starlight City got hit hard, everyone was on edge.
Lily frowned, gripping her sword tightly. She stayed quiet, thinking about how they could turn things around.
Earl's face went pale, muttering, "It's over, it's over, we're really screwed this time! Captain, should we bail? 24 hours is enough to get out of Starlight City!"
Steven checked the info on the satellite phone and said calmly, "By the way, there's one more thing. They said if we try to run, we'll face a full-scale, no-escape hunt from Silvercrest District! Which one do you think is scarier? Them or the zombies?"
Earl's face turned ashen.
Fighting zombies gave him at least a slim chance of survival, but being targeted by Silvercrest District meant certain death!
After all, as long as Silvercrest District wanted to, they could use their powerful satellite monitoring system and network system to pinpoint their location at any time.
"This... this is just making things difficult for us." Earl looked grim.
Steven leaned back in his chair, his eyelids drooping, and said leisurely, "Don't worry, this zombie crisis isn't without a solution."
"As long as we know that the horde is backed by Snowfall Cult, things become much simpler."
"They didn't expect me to expose their hiding place for the zombies, so they must be in a panic right now. So they're the actual ones in a delimma, not us."
Steven wasn't worried at all. He knew Snowfall Cult had a way to resolve this zombie crisis.
After all, they didn't want everything to be destroyed by The Grim Reaper's Sigh just before they achieved their ambitions!
A glint of light flashed in Steven's eyes. 'Everything is developing as planned, more or less within my expectations. Now let's see if the event can achieve the effect I want!'
Emberwick Base was certainly not just a bunker.
As a fortress prepared for wartime, it also had a powerful self-defense system, not as easily destroyed as Snowfall Cult.
Otha, Megan, and others gathered in the operations command room to start formulating a breakout plan.
Although it was extremely difficult to annihilate the horde of over 300,000 zombies, it wasn't entirely without a chance; the survivors were all top-notch elites.
Soon, a temporary plan was formulated.
"To eliminate the horde, the most important thing is to take out their command center—the Zombie Kings!"
"But this time, we disturbed the horde, and they came to attack us. So the Zombie Kings must be at the rear of the horde."
"We must break out, locate them, and kill them all. Without their command, the horde won't be as terrifying."
In front of Otha was a huge electronic information map; the Emberwick Base shelter was at the center.
It had powerful armed forces, such as automated cannons, etc. Clearing the horde and killing tens of thousands of zombies wouldn't be a problem.
"How do we break out?" Megan asked, "There are too many zombies, and we can't do it with just the firepower we have."
Among the horde, there were a large number of Bronze Elite Zombies with combat power comparable to Psychics.
Even if Otha and his team could each handle five Bronze Elite Zombies, there were hundreds of those and Bronze Flying Elite Zombies outside!
Otha adjusted his sunglasses, and Steven's image popped into his mind. 'Who would've thought that at a critical moment, we'd still have to count on him to save us!'
Steven's vehicle hadn't reached Emberwick Base yet.
But then, Steven's satellite phone rang, and the caller ID showed it was Otha.
Steven raised an eyebrow, and the others looked over curiously.
Steven knew everyone was curious about the situation at Emberwick Base, so he put the call on speaker.
"Mr. Soderberg, how are you now?"
Otha's cold voice came from the phone, "We're still okay, but we don't have much time left. Listen, Steven, don't rush to support us now. Go to the coast first and use your ability to collect a large amount of seawater!"
Steven and his team exchanged glances, understanding Otha's plan.
Facing tens of thousands of zombies, they didn't have large-scale weapons to effectively kill them. But a large amount of seawater was a highly lethal weapon in itself.
Most zombies, once immersed in seawater, would have their movements greatly affected, even becoming unable to pose a threat to humans.
Moreover, releasing a large amount of seawater onto the land would also freeze in a short time, which was undoubtedly a very useful weapon against them.
Steven quickly responded, "Got it, give me four hours."
He immediately had Henry turn the car around and head towards the Gulf of Mexico.
Meanwhile, Sebastian and the others were instructed by Otha to wait at a distance from Emberwick Base.
They had to wait until everyone was fully prepared before launching an attack on the horde together.
During this process, the most important thing was the seawater Steven would bring.
Four hours passed slowly.
Every second was a torment for the people in the shelter.
The various factions were also very nervous, fearing the arrival of The Grim Reaper's Sigh, especially Neil, who was extremely conflicted at this moment.
He couldn't understand why the investigation team had discovered the part of the horde they had hidden.
And now, he had to make a choice—either abandon the horde to gain Silvercrest District's trust and wait for the Bloodfeeder Vine to recreate the zombies, or go all out and kill everyone in Starlight City, including the investigation team.
Obviously, the second option was completely irrational.
Confronting Silvercrest District head-on was extremely foolish in itself, not to mention the horde's attack method couldn't break in and kill the people hiding in the shelter in a short time.
So, Neil had no choice but to painfully choose to protect the Bloodfeeder Vine, which meant he had to abandon over 300,000 zombies around Emberwick Base!
Although it was heartbreaking, it was their only option.
'It has to be convincing, so they don't find out the horde is under our control.' Neil stood in the distance with a cold gaze, looking at the dense horde.
The cold wind blew against the cloak on his body.
He took a deep breath, the cold air making his throat ache.
"So now, I can't give any orders to the horde, letting them attack humans based on their instincts.."
"Let's just hope Otha and his team aren't useless and could hang on as long as possible."
