Chapter 32 The Begging of a Hypocrite

Through video calls, Alice and Ivy saw Steven's current life.

The pleasant temperature and abundant food in his luxurious life left them dumbfounded, as if they were witnessing paradise!

It was hard for them to imagine that there were still people living so comfortably ten days after doomsday.

Steven casually asked, "How have you been lately? You both look thinner, congratulations!"

Alice and Ivy wanted to curse him in their hearts.

Did he think they wanted to lose weight? They were just starving!

Now, they only dared to eat one piece of bread a day, otherwise the supplies at home would have run out long ago.

Ivy's eyes were fixed on the food in Steven's house; she licked her lips greedily and asked, "Steven, how come you have so much food at home? Did you hoard it from our last shopping trip?"

Steven glanced at the kitchen and said nonchalantly, "Those are just some junk food, I eat them when I'm too lazy to cook. I don't eat much on a regular basis."

What Steven said was all true.

In his extradimensional space, delicious food piled up like mountains.

After all, he had ordered countless delicacies from various restaurants.

And just in the Walmart warehouse alone, there were tens of thousands of different kinds of food items among the billions of dollars worth of supplies.

To Alice and Ivy, his casual remark seemed like a blatant display of his wealth!

After all, a piece of bread in their homeowners group was being inflated to $280!

Steven could clearly see their throats swallowing constantly, obviously salivating.

However, Steven didn't say anything, just quietly enjoying their longing gazes.

"Honey, you have so much food. You're amazing! Many people outside can't even have a decent meal now!"

"You're so smart. No wonder you bought so much stuff back then, you had plans all along!" Alice said playfully.

Even her way of addressing Steven had changed to "Honey".

Steven smiled slightly, saying, "It's nothing, I've merely been lucky."

Alice asked again, "Honey, your house looks so warm. And it's not even the time for power supply, why is it so bright?"

Alice voiced her biggest doubt.

Nothing was more desirable than warmth in extreme cold.

Steven smiled faintly, turned the phone camera around, and pointed it at the fireplace.

"I have a fireplace at home! It's really warm, the house is almost uncomfortably hot." He even added, "By the way, you both look like you're feeling cold. Is it really that cold outside?"

"I haven't been out for about ten days, I have no idea what's going on outside." This statement from Steven significantly increased their resentment towards him.

How could he not know what was happening outside?

Just through the homeowners' chat group, he could see the dire situations and understand how low the temperatures were in other people's homes.

Alice and Ivy were seething with hatred.

They knew Steven was saying this on purpose.

But, given that Steven was now living in such a paradise, he had the capital to flaunt.

Alice now had only one thought - she wanted to move into Steven's house!

Judging from Steven's condition, his home was evidently well-stocked with food.

Who wouldn't long for the warm environment?

Alice immediately put on a fragile and pitiful look, batting her eyes coquettishly, and said, "Honey, you're amazing, I admire you so much!"

"Can I come over to your place? I haven't seen you in so long, I miss you, Honey!"

Alice believed her move would work.

After all, she had used this tactic before to get many loyal suitors to follow her every command.

Moreover, Steven had pursued her in the past.

She thought that as a goddess like herself, as long as she made a move, Steven would surely be happy to agree to her request.

Once she could enter Steven's home, she would naturally find more ways to stay there confidently.

At worst, she would give Steven some spicy reward!

Men would fall for this; they were all the same.

Little did she know; when Steven saw her flaunting herself on the camera, Steven felt a wave of nausea.

He began to doubt if he had been crazy in the past to chase after this kind of woman for two years.

They used to work in the warehouse area, where female employees were relatively scarce.

Alice would act cute and dress up, so over time, Steven had started to see her as a goddess.

But since he had been betrayed and died in the past life because of her, that filter had completely disappeared.

Looking at the bare-faced Alice on the screen, Steven felt no emotional ripples in his heart.

He even found her affected behavior uncomfortable.

A hint of mockery tugged at the corner of his mouth.

Leaning back on the couch, Steven lazily said, "On such a cold day, you better stay home and rest! Don't run around outside."

"Although I don't know how cold it is outside, it must be quite chilly judging from your appearance." He added.

Alice and Ivy probably didn't expect to be rejected by Steven.

Both of them paused, their eyes filled with disbelief. Alice's eyes, in particular, were filled with shock and grievance.

In Alice's eyes, Steven was a decent suitor!

As long as she beckoned, he would obediently come over to serve her.

Now that she took the initiative to ask to go to Steven's house, he didn't even think about it and directly refused!

This severely struck her confidence!

What made her even more uncomfortable was Steven's flaunting tone.

No, she couldn't accept this outcome!

Knowing that there was a warm and abundant paradise in her own building, while she had to endure hunger at home, she absolutely couldn't accept it!

She was a goddess!

Alice's face stiffened for a moment, then she forced a smile.

"Honey, don't tease Alice like that!" she begged.

"Weren't you the best to Alice before?"

"Why, I want to come see you, and you won't allow it? I'm not suggesting anything else."

Pouting with a look of grievance, she appeared truly pitiful.

Upon seeing this, most men would probably feel pity and protective, agreeing to her request on the spot.

But Steven was the exception.

Ever since he died because of Alice's betrayal, he no longer held any feelings for this woman beyond resentment.

Steven said, "Every time I invited you to my place before, you always had all sorts of excuses, saying that we were both single, and it wouldn't look good if rumors spread."

"I think you're right. We have no relationship, so we should keep our distance. Let's not spread any rumors!"

When Steven pursued Alice before, even inviting her out for dinner or a movie required a lot of effort.

He had to prepare gifts, surprises, and book high-end hotels just for a chance.

When he wanted to take it further and invite Alice to his own home, she always had various excuses.

Now, Steven brought up those past words of hers, teasingly throwing them back at her.
