Chapter 457 At the Negotiation Table

Daron took down Oliver in under a minute. Everyone watching looked pretty shaken by his strength.

Oliver was the deputy at Silverlake Base, and folks knew he was no slouch in a fight.

Henry, a Strengthening System Psychic, wondered if he could take Oliver on and wasn't too sure about it. Lily thought she might have a shot, but it wouldn't be a walk in the park.

This wasn't just about who could fight better; it was about smarts too.

The combat squad from Silvercrest District were all seasoned fighters with top-notch skills.

After beating Oliver, Daron, still not satisfied, called out to the crowd, "If anyone thinks they can take me, step up now!"

Everyone got the message: Daron and his crew were showing who was the boss.

But after seeing Oliver get whooped so easily, no one else wanted to give it a go.

With no takers, Daron shrugged, looking bored, and sauntered back.

Upstairs in the conference room, Leonard's face darkened when he heard Oliver's scream from outside.

But he couldn't leave to check it out because Otha and the leaders of the major factions were deep in a strategy meeting.

Each group was sharing what they knew about the zombie and rat swarms.

This way, everyone got up to speed on what the others knew.

Except for Steven, who kept some of his methods for dealing with the zombies and rats to himself, everyone else was pretty open with their info.

After all, when it came to wiping out zombies, they were all on the same team.

They had to get rid of them to save Starlight City.

Otherwise, Teksbo City could just press a button and wipe Starlight City off the map with The Grim Reaper's Sigh.

No one wanted that.

After the info swap, Otha put his hands on the table and started giving orders.

"Alright, I've heard what you all have to say. Combining it with our intel, I know what we need to do next."

Everyone perked up, eager to hear more. Silvercrest District's intel system was way ahead of theirs. They were curious about how much the regional HQ in Teksbo City knew about Starlight City.

Otha, peering over his dark sunglasses, got serious. "From our investigation, zombies target densely populated areas. The more people, the more zombies show up."

"And the rat swarm follows the zombies around. So, if we take out the zombies, the rats won't be a big deal."

"Our intel shows the zombies act in patterns, which means there's probably a Zombie King calling the shots."

"Zombie King is just a code name. It could be a super-strong zombie or a Psychic."

"And there are a ton of zombies, enough to fight in multiple spots in Starlight City."

Otha raised his voice a bit.

"So, based on this intel, just taking out the zombies on the surface won't cut it. We have to take down this Zombie King."

"From now on, I need all major forces to move most of their people underground to avoid getting attacked!"

"Then, focus your elite forces on one main goal: taking out the Zombie King!"

Otha was basically telling Frostwood Base to ditch the steel mill, Emberwick Base to leave the refinery, and Silverlake Base to abandon the port.

The leaders of these three groups exchanged glances, hesitated for a bit, but eventually nodded after thinking it over.

In the past, they didn't want to give up their surface resources, worried it would mess with their future survival.

And even if they did give up those resources, it wouldn't solve the zombie problem.

But now, with help and a unified command from Silvercrest District, they felt more confident.

After all, each group was too busy to take advantage of the others.

And if they could wipe out the zombies, those territories and resources would still be theirs later.

Zombies didn't care about resources. They only wanted human flesh.

When the major forces teamed up, a lot of problems got easier to handle.

Neil, sitting in a corner, spoke up, "What about us?"

He frowned, clearly pissed off. "They all have their underground shelters and high-level refuges. But we, the Snowfall Cult, have nothing!"

"Mr. Soderberg, you can't just favor them and leave us out!"

Hearing this, Otha turned to look at Neil, coldly saying, "You have thousands of followers in Snowfall Cult. It's your job to protect them since they joined your cult."

"Do you expect us to protect them for you?"

Neil's face twisted in anger.

Before he could snap back, Otha continued, "We can only make plans based on what you have. If you don't get that, you'll be wiped out by the zombies."

Otha didn't care about anyone's survival. He cared about ending the zombie crisis in Starlight City and stopping the virus from spreading.

Neil gritted his teeth, gripping the chair tightly with his right hand. "So, you're just gonna watch our people die?"

"And if the other forces go underground, Snowfall Cult will be the biggest target for the zombies! How will our followers survive then?"

Steven raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement on his lips.

Megan, Leonard, and Sebastian all looked indifferent.

They didn't care about the fate of Snowfall Cult.

Megan even sneered and said, "Most of your followers in Snowfall Cult are non-combatants. If you can't handle it, you shouldn't have taken in so many people!"

She had long been annoyed with Snowfall Cult and wasn't going to miss this chance to mock them.

Neil glared at Megan, a deep murderous intent in his eyes.

At that moment, Otha broke the tension. "Snowfall Cult has its uses. If you can't hide well, you can serve another purpose."
