Chapter 449 An Email

That day, Steven and his crew were just going about their usual routine, living their simple life.

After dealing with zombies and giant rats in the subway, nothing really fazed them anymore.

But that morning, some news quietly shook up their peaceful existence.

Steven was chilling in the living room, munching on breakfast. He was in his blue cotton PJs, barefoot on the sofa.

The villa always had the perfect temperature, so it was never too hot or too cold.

Steven was enjoying a sandwich made by Nora. The women in the house were at the dining table, eating and chatting, laughing and having a good time.

Meanwhile, Steven, Henry, and Earl would hang out together when they had nothing else to do. They'd brag about themselves and talk about how bad things were at other bases.

They were the only ones in Starlight City who could enjoy this kind of peace. Other groups were probably struggling with zombie and rat attacks.

Those groups didn't know that Cindy was keeping a close eye on their network. So, every day, Steven got updates about them.

He knew exactly how many people died in battles and how many resources were lost.

Steven always saw this info as a little spice in life. Sometimes, you need some outside gossip to live freely and comfortably.

He also kept tabs on the zombie hordes to make sure they didn't catch them off guard if they showed up near the shelter one day.

In the apocalypse, intelligence is one of the most important strategic resources!

Just then, Cindy rolled into the living room from the control room in her wheelchair, looking pretty serious.

She came up to Steven and said, "Steven, there's a really important email you need to see!"

Seeing Cindy's serious face, Steven knew something big was up. For this genius girl to look so serious, it had to be something major.

"What happened? Let me see."

Cindy moved closer and handed him her computer. Steven took a closer look and saw an email on the screen.

The email said:

[Special dispatch personnel from Silvercrest District have arrived in Starlight City. Please be sure to arrive at Starlight City SC Central Building at 2:30 PM today.]

The invited list included: Francis from Frostwood Shelter. Megan from Emberwick Base. Leonard from Silverlake Base. Natasha, the leader of Snowfall Cult. And Steven, without any title. The signature at the bottom was from Silvercrest Military District.

Steven's eyes widened. "Silvercrest Military District! Is it one of the five major military districts of The Astralium Kingdom, headquartered in Teksbo City?"

Everyone in The Astralium Kingdom knew this. The five major military districts were the top military power of the kingdom.

In peacetime, they were the backbone of the nation. In the apocalypse, they were still the cornerstone of stability for The Astralium Kingdom.

No one doubted the strength of Silvercrest District. The last time Steven managed to defeat West Mountain Base, it was because Silvercrest District had launched a missile.

If Silvercrest District wanted, they could wipe Starlight City off the map in an instant. Steven couldn't help but feel a sense of awe for such power.

Cindy nodded. "Yeah, I think it's definitely them."

Steven frowned a bit. "How can we be sure this email is legit and not some conspiracy or prank?"

Cindy shook her head. "Steven, I can assure you this message is from Silvercrest District. Our network system has a really strong firewall."

"Anyone who wants to contact us has to get permission first. If I don't allow it, their messages can't get through," Cindy explained.

"But this email bypassed my surface firewall and went straight to our inbox."

"There are only two types of people who can do that. The first is a hacker better than me, and the second is an official institution with higher-level internet permissions."

"In The Astralium Kingdom, it's impossible for anyone to break into our network that quickly without me noticing."

"So, it must be someone from the Silvercrest District."

"I just don't know why they're suddenly visiting Starlight City. Maybe it's about the zombie issue," Cindy guessed.

Steven's eyes narrowed. "They can actually do that? Doesn't that mean our network isn't safe either?"

Cindy smiled. "The real core of the shelter is the intranet, which uses an independent server and isn't connected to the outside world. They can't break into it."

Steven sighed in relief but still felt uneasy. With an external force like Silvercrest District joining in, things could get out of hand.

"I think their visit is probably related to the zombie tide," Steven said. "The scale of the zombie tide is huge, and its origin is mysterious."

"If we don't deal with it, nearly 20 million corpses in Starlight City could turn into a massive zombie horde."

"And don't forget the giant rats mixed in with the zombies."

"If the zombie tide and rat swarm spread to other cities, it'll be a disaster."

Steven spread his hands and joked, "Isn't that how a biohazard starts?"

Cindy nodded. "From this email, it's clear they know everything about Starlight City. They accurately named the leaders of each force."

She added, "I think we should go. We don't want to offend a major military district right now."

Steven leaned back on the sofa, thinking. "Given the computing capabilities of the other forces in Starlight City, it's unlikely they set up this trap."

"But to be safe, I'll bring the strongest armed force possible."

Steven wasn't too worried about safety. Apart from their group, the other forces in Starlight City were pretty weakened.

As long as Steven took his elite team, they wouldn't face much danger, no matter who they encountered.

Even if the opponent was too strong, they could still escape.

So, Steven called everyone to the living room and told them about the situation.

When they heard that people from the Silvercrest District had arrived in Starlight City, everyone's reactions were mixed.

Some were happy, while others were worried.

Earl was one of the worried ones. With a troubled face, he said, "Our life is pretty stable now. If another force enters Starlight City, it might change everything."

Steven shook his head. "Although Starlight City, as a port city, has a lot of resources, what I have is nothing compared to the Silvercrest District."

Even though Steven had emptied an entire supermarket warehouse, his resources were nothing compared to the Silvercrest District.

The South had always been the most prosperous area for trade, and the Silvercrest District controlled the entire South.

They never lacked resources.

For ordinary people, the extreme cold weather might cause various problems and resource shortages.

But for a powerful District like Silvercrest, these problems could be easily solved.
