Chapter 139: Brock's Girlfriends

After the gunshot rang out, Frank's pupils contracted, and his body went limp. Steven's shot had barely missed his head, grazing past his ear. The close brush with death left Frank paralyzed with terror.

He slumped to the ground, gasping for breath. "Mr. Rogers, don’t kill me, I’m telling the truth!" he pleaded desperately.

Steven narrowed his eyes and crouched down slowly, piercing Frank with a cold stare. "Give me a reason to believe you're not in cahoots with Brock. Convince me, and you might live."

Frank took a few shaky breaths, struggling to gather his composure. "Because opposing you means certain death," he finally managed. "I'm not stupid. I've seen what you're capable of. Compared to you, Brock's a sheltered brat. You’re far more dangerous."

Frank clenched his teeth, his eyes burning with loathing. "And besides," he spat, "I’d rather see that bastard Brock dead than you."

A shrewd look flashed in Steven's eyes. "Aren't you two friends?"

"Friends?" Frank's smile twisted with bitterness and resentment. "We were never friends. To him, I'm nothing more than a pet."

He began explaining the dynamics between them, a snarl underlining his words. "My family, the Olsons, are quite affluent. My father’s construction materials company is worth billions in Starlight City. By any standard, I should be a top-tier socialite here."

"But then Brock came back from abroad, and everything changed. The Johnson family’s wealth and influence dwarf ours." Frank’s tone was filled with self-loathing. "In public, I’m Mr. Olson. But to Brock, I’m nobody."

Steven raised an eyebrow, recalling a particular memory. "I've heard Brock say, 'I don’t care if my friends have money or not, because none of them have more money than me.'"

"Exactly!" Frank exclaimed. "That’s the point."

Steven still seemed skeptical. "So you hate him just because he's richer than you?"

Frank shook his head vehemently. "You don’t understand our world!" he said, an edge of desperation in his voice. "We rely on the Johnsons. We wouldn't survive without their investments. So when Brock returned, I had to grovel, to curry favor with him."

Frank’s face clouded with humiliated anger, his fists clenching. "He even took a liking to my woman, and I couldn’t say a word. I had to personally deliver her to his bed!"

His face flushed with rage. "She was mine! And at his whim, I handed her over for his amusement! And not just once – several times!"

"Because of this," he continued, teeth gritted, "I’ve become a laughingstock among the city’s elite. They see me as little more than a pimp."

Steven’s brow furrowed, his expression softening with a twinge of empathy. He could see why Frank was so distraught. To be a prominent figure yet have to debase himself to this extent—no wonder the man was unhinged.

Intrigued, Steven leaned in and asked, "I've heard that Brock's biggest hobby is women. Some say he's had tens of thousands of girlfriends. Is that true?"

When Steven first encountered this rumor, he found it hard to believe. After all, even living to a hundred, that would only amount to 36,500 days. Yet the number of girlfriends people were attributing to Brock seemed absurdly high.

Frank chuckled. "Mr. Rogers, don't take this the wrong way, but the excesses of the truly wealthy are beyond the comprehension of ordinary folks. You think the lives of the rich depicted in novels are exaggerated, right? Trust me, fiction doesn't even come close to the reality."

Steven’s expression grew more serious. The allure of gossip was irresistible. "Enlighten me then."

"The number of women Brock has been with isn't in the tens of thousands, it's in the hundreds of thousands," Frank declared with a laugh.

Steven was momentarily taken aback, then erupted in laughter himself. "You're pulling my leg! Everyone has their limits, Frank. I might not be rolling in dough, but I'm not clueless. Hundreds of thousands? Why stop there? Say billions while you're at it."

Frank's claim seemed ludicrous. Brock was only in his forties. Having hundreds of thousands of women seemed less like reality and more like fiction. If that were true, he'd be sleeping with hundreds of women a day. How would he even be alive?

Frank laughed as well, but his tone was earnest. "I swear it's the truth. The world of the ultra-wealthy is beyond what you or I can fathom."

Steven’s curiosity was piqued. "Alright, explain to me, how does he manage it?"

Frank's expression turned serious. "It's quite methodical, really. Brock has a network of people scouting women for him nationwide. These women hail from various walks of life. Actresses, influencers, high society women in Starlight City, starry-eyed girls in Everglow City—all dreaming of quick fame or fortune."

"He isn't picky—any beautiful woman catches his eye." He continued, "To handle this, he has dozens of phones, each representing a state, filled with groups of local beauties. And it’s not just confined to our country; his reach is international.""

Steven’s eyes widened. The logistics were mind-boggling. "Dozens of phones?!"

Frank continued, "Yes, each phone filled with group chats from different regions. When he visits a place, he just sends out a notice. Hundreds will flock to meet him. Even when he’s not traveling, he can summon company with just a message."

"Ever seen those online videos where girls write messages on their bodies like, 'Congratulations to EG for winning the championship,' or 'Congrats LeBron!'?" Frank asked, "Brock often orchestrates those. A simple request in his groups, and they'll perform various acts. Writing messages is only the tip of the iceberg."

"He sends financial gifts to these groups—from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The girls who receive the most money often post videos in thanks.""

Steven was taken aback. "Unreal. So it’s like he has a personal harem on speed dial."

Frank nodded, "Exactly. He doesn’t sleep with all of them. Think of it as a vast reserve. He’s selective, choosing companions as he pleases. He can afford such extravagance indefinitely. To him, it’s just another way to spend his seemingly endless wealth."

Steven sighed, shaking his head in disbelief. "I guess that explains the surplus of single women in big cities."
