Chapter 76 Rapids Gang of Building 26
Steven told Elinor what had just happened. "It was those workers from Building 26 next door!"
"There's a new development nearby, so many workers are renting houses around here."
Elinor was a bit curious. "Our neighborhood is pretty upscale. Can they afford to spend that much money?"
Steven said, "Ten people living in one room, so how expensive do you think it can be?"
Elinor nodded.
Then she showed a serious expression. "So, actually, they are more dangerous than Andrew!"
Steven nodded in agreement. "Andrew is just a punk. In peaceful times, ordinary people wouldn't dare to cause trouble, so they were afraid of him."
"But now, with everyone struggling to survive, if he didn't have a gun, he would have been beaten to death long ago."
"But these workers are different. They do physical labor every day, so they are much stronger than ordinary people and more formidable in a fight."
"Besides, they know each other well and have numbers on their side. Whatever they plan to do is convenient."
Steven took a deep breath and sighed, "Luckily, I killed that fat guy who knew about explosives yesterday. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to sleep soundly at night."
Elinor asked, "So what do we do next? Should we take revenge on them?"
Steven said angrily, "Of course, we should take revenge!"
He continued saying, "But I'm not going over there. It's too unwise to seek revenge in someone else's territory. Look at them; didn't I kill most of them?"
Elinor asked curiously, "But you have a gun!"
"A gun isn't enough!" Steven said confidently, "Even if I kill them all, if I get even slightly hurt, I would feel it's unworthy."
Elinor rolled her eyes. "You're too cautious... too cautious!"
She proceeded, "But if you don't go out and find them, how will you get your revenge? They don't seem like people who are afraid of death; they feel like outlaws!"
After all, ordinary people wouldn't plant a bomb in an apartment building.
One wrong move, and they could blow themselves up.
Steven stroked his chin, already having an idea. "It seems that if I want to live peacefully in the future, I need to find some people to help me."
Steven thought for a moment, took his phone, and opened the homeowners group for Building 25.
Due to the recent explosion, all the neighbors were awakened and frantically asked in the group.
"What was that noise just now? An earthquake? Or a bomb attack?"
"The sound came from upstairs. Could it be a meteorite falling?"
"Very likely. If it wasn't a meteorite falling from the sky, how could there be such an abnormal temperature? Maybe humans will go extinct like the dinosaurs."
The chat was chaotic, with all sorts of speculations.
Steven said, "Just now, those workers from Building 26 broke into our building, trying to kill and rob. I discovered them in time and drove them away."
He added, "Yancy Bailey, who lived on the 16th floor, has been killed." Then he explained, "As for the sound, it's from explosives they used."
The neighbors were immediately tense upon hearing Steven's account.
"What? You just dealt with Andrew, and now those bastards from next door are here too!"
"They are very fierce. I heard there are often fights at that construction site."
"How did the people from Building 26 get over here?"
Steven said, "They dug a snow tunnel from below and came up from the first floor."
Immediately, someone said nervously, "Quick, collapse that tunnel and lock the doors!"
Steven said, "It's useless. That kind of door can be broken with one hit. Even if you block it, they can climb in from the windows on the fourth floor."
The neighbors were all very scared.
That night, if Steven hadn't driven those people away, they might have broken into their homes and killed them!
"What should we do? How can we fight those people!"
"Half of the people in our building are dead, and most of the remaining are the elderly, women, and children."
Yes, most of the stronger people had died near Steven's home.
At this point, someone said, "Luckily we have Steven!"
"Steven, you're amazing, driving all those people away by yourself."
"With you here, our safety is guaranteed. Steven, you're our hero!"
With reminders from a few people, others also realized the same thing.
Now, Steven was the strongest combat force in their building, and he had a gun.
Having him deal with the workers from the neighboring building was the best choice!
Steven found this scene quite amusing.
Previously, they insulted him every day in the group, calling him selfish and shameless.
Most of them had relatives and friends who died at Steven's hands, and they hated him.
But now that they needed him, so they called him a hero.
Did they really think Steven was an idiot?
Steven sneered and said, "I used up a lot of weapons dealing with them. It's hard enough to protect myself now. Everyone should protect themselves!"
'Are you crazy? Why should I protect you? Your safety has nothing to do with me,' simultaneously thinking this as he was speaking.
After saying this, Steven stopped speaking.
The group became agitated, and they all begged Steven to protect them.
"Steven, you can't just watch us die!"
"If we all die, only you two will be left. Won't you be lonely?"
"If we all die, you'll eventually become a target. Who knows how many people want to harm you!"
Seeing these messages, Steven turned annoyed.
That statement was true; there's no telling how many people wanted to harm him now.
After all, the video Steven posted in the group had surely been forwarded by the neighbors.
People outside might just be jealous.
But people in the surrounding buildings had a chance to come to Building 25 and take everything from him!
But he still said nothing.
Instead, Henry sent Steven a private message, concerned and asking if Steven needed help.
"I know those bastards from Building 26. I even drank with them before!"
"Fuck, they dared to target you. I won't let them get away with it."
"Steven, if you have any ideas, let me know. I'll help you deal with them."
Steven laughed. "Mr. Garcia, do they have a lot of people?"
Henry said, "Yes, they originally had over thirty people. But recently, about ten have died, so there are about twenty left."
"I know their leader Owen. We were chatting a while ago. But those people are too bad; they've killed a lot of people in Building 26."
"I'm not like them!"
Henry and those workers both came from humble backgrounds.
However, the workers had been in society for a long time, while Henry had spent many years in the military.
Their mindsets were on completely different levels.
