Chapter 204 Peaceful Years

Earl walked step by step along the ice of the Mississippi River.

Steven also drove back to Emerald Estate.

So, did he want to remind the people of Cox Town by saying those words to Earl?

Steven wasn't that kind-hearted. There was a deeper purpose.

Those people had attacked him twice. Even if they were wiped out someday, Steven wouldn't feel any pity.

However, Steven knew that in the future, other organizations or groups might come to attack Emerald Estate.

And Cox Town, being his neighbor, was a natural barrier for him.

Once Steven planted these ideas in Earl's mind, Earl began to see anyone nearby as a potential threat. This allowed Cox Town to take on a portion of the enmity on Steven's behalf.

"Having such a tool man is not bad at all," Steven muttered to himself, looking at the clumsy figure on the ice.

However, Steven also had to be cautious.

The reason Earl came to rely on him was because of the formidable strength he displayed.

If he weren't strong enough, he might have been killed by the people of Cox Village last night.

So, in the future, Steven knew he had to train his strength relentlessly to become even more powerful!

As Steven turned to leave, he felt reassured that his backing was now firmly in place.

But there was one thing he hadn't considered.

That was, representing Cox Village or the highest combat power of the entire Cox Town, Earl was not actually the most powerful person in the village.

From Steven's perspective, this was incredible, but it was indeed a fact.

So, after Earl returned to the village, he excitedly went to find the current chief, Gavin, to report the good news.

He thought that by reconciling with Steven, the village would be safe from Steven's retaliation from now on.

But after hearing his report, Gavin's expression became solemn.

Gavin was silent for a while before coldly saying to Earl, "Who told you to act on your own?"

Earl thought he would be praised, but Gavin's reaction clearly disappointed him.

He was a bit puzzled. "But, Mr. Gavin Cox, I made sure our village wouldn't be attacked! You've seen Steven's strength. We can't possibly match it."

Gavin sneered. "You still have the nerve to talk about this? If you hadn't chickened out yesterday, we wouldn't have lost so many people in the Cox family."

Earl's face turned pale, not knowing how to refute.

Gavin continued, "If it weren't for you, would Jared have died?

"Now you went over there on your own, talking about reconciliation, and you think you've done something great!

"You really have no shame!" Gavin scolded.

Earl felt his face burning and was extremely disappointed inside.

He tried to explained, "But I promised Grandpa Jared to protect the village. We can't afford to have any more conflicts with Steven. Reconciliation is clearly the best..."

"Shut up!" Gavin suddenly shouted, interrupting Earl.

He stared at Earl condenscendingly, and the long-standing elder's authority made Earl dare not look him in the eye.

Gavin continued, "That's just being presumptuous! Now, in the Cox family, I am the chief. All your actions must be approved by me first! You are not allowed to act on your own!"

Earl lowered his head, not speaking, feeling very aggrieved.

He felt he was clearly a hero.

At this moment, Gavin suddenly softened his tone, walked over, and gently patted Earl's shoulder.

He pretended to be kind, saying, "Earl, I know you mean well, but you're still young and don't have mature thoughts when doing things. Because of you, the Cox family has suffered heavy losses. I defended you in front of the clan members, so they didn't expel you from the village."

Then, he sighed. "From now on, you stay in the village to atone for your sins. Don't do anything foolish again! Just follow the my orders obediently. Understand?"

Earl kept his head down, not speaking.

Gavin raised his voice. "Do you understand!"

Earl's legs instinctively trembled, and he nodded helplessly. "Understood."

Gavin finally showed a satisfied expression. "You can go back now. Remember, you are not allowed to act on your own again!"

After Earl agreed, he left Gavin's house with a face full of disappointment.

Watching Earl leave, Gavin adjusted his glasses and muttered, "Young people are arrogant. Don't think that just because you have some skills, you can disrespect your elders!"

Then, Gavin took out his phone from his pocket and sent messages to the heads of the various branches in the village.

Gavin: [You don't need to worry about Steven anymore. I've already contacted him, and Steven agreed to reconcile with us. He won't threaten our safety in the future.]

The heads of the branches, who were originally worried about Steven's attack, breathed a sigh of relief after seeing Gavin's message and praised Gavin's ability.

The heads: [Only you could handle that bastard so easily! We should have made you the chief from the beginning. Chief Cox is old and confused, making such a mistake.]

Gavin: [The dead should be respected, so let's not talk about that anymore.]

The heads: [It's a good thing for our village to have Mr. Gavin leading us.]

After returning home, Steven briefly talked to Elinor and Nora about Earl and Cox Village.

This was also to ease their worries.

Nora patted her chest, saying, "This is really great!"

Elinor looked at her teasingly, and asked, "Really? Are you scared of just this?"

Nora said angrily, "No, I'm not! I just don't want to see such bloody scenes again."

If the fight continued, Steven would wipe out the entire Cox Village of over a thousand people.

Steven was definitely capable of doing that.

Elinor smirked and mocked. "True, someone was vomiting bile yesterday."

Nora, embarrassed by her own situation, blushed with urgency.

"Elinor!" she called out.

Elinor proudly hugged Steven's arm. "Honey, you're amazing!"

Steven nonchalantly replied, "Those villagers are just ordinary people. They pose no threat to me. But in the future, if some underground forces appear, that would be the worst."

Nora smiled and comforted him. "You always think of the worst-case scenario. Now that we've solved the immediate problem, let's celebrate!"

Steven thought to himself, 'If I don't think ahead, it could become a big problem later.'

But since everyone was in a good mood, he didn't say it out loud.

Elinor walked to the bar, picked out two bottles of fine wine, and smiled. "Let's have a drink tonight!"

A sly look flickered in Nora's eyes. "Alright, I'll cook a couple of my specialty dishes!"

As a well-known socialite in the entertainment industry, she could hold her liquor quite well.

Today, she planned to show Steven and Elinor her drinking prowess.

Steven laughed and said, "Just a little to set the mood! I'm not a great drinker."

Elinor and Nora laughed even more at this. "It's a rare happy occasion! We'll stop when it's enough."

So, the three of them drank until they were thoroughly drunk.

Late into the night, Elinor was the first to pass out, and after drinking half a bottle more than her, Nora also got wasted.

Only Steven, who claimed he couldn't drink, was still sitting at the table, his eyes bright and clear, showing no signs of tipsy.

Looking at the two women who tried to get him drunk, Steven smiled slightly.

He said, "Forgot to tell you, I used to sale liquor."

But at this sight, he couldn't help but swallowed hard.

Both women were wearing thin nightgowns, and now, drunk, they lay on the sofa, instinctively hugging each other.

Their clothes were disheveled, with Nora's spaghetti-strap nightgown revealing her smooth, rounded shoulder and half-exposed chest, looking seductive.

Elinor's face was flushed, her posture not elegant, but exuding a wild allure.

Steven raised an eyebrow, thinking of Nora's previous pleas to him, and couldn't help but smile wickedly.

After giving Cox Town a painful lesson, those guys never crossed the Mississippi River again.

Steven's daily life was spent enjoying peaceful times with two beautiful girls.

With no worries about food or clothing and plenty of leisure activities, Steven enjoyed this life.

On the other hand, Steven's phone constantly received messages from Earl.

[Mr. Rogers, I'm pretty bored at home lately. When will you take me out on a mission?]

[Mr. Rogers, I think we should form a superhero team. Five people, each representing a color. You can be the captain, called Super Captain, and I'll be Snow Mastiff Hero.]

[Mr. Rogers, why aren't you responding? If you don't like it, we can form a rainbow team. I'll be Blue King, and you can be The Colorless King. How about that?]

After meeting Steven, Earl felt he had found a kindred spirit.

Having no friends in the village, he was further ostracized by the villagers after that battle.

Although they didn't dare say anything openly, their distant looks were even more piercing than the cold northern wind.

Earl could only pin his hopes on Steven, seeking some comfort from him.

To win Earl over, Steven needed to chat with him.

He could also extract some information from Earl in the process.

Over time, Earl revealed all the details of his supernatural abilities to Steven.

But gradually, Steven found it hard to keep up.

Earl didn't have a girlfriend, so he had too much energy.

He could send Steven hundreds of messages a day, and even if Steven didn't respond, he could keep talking non-stop.

"Are you just sitting around doing nothing all day?" Steven asked through gritted teeth.

There was a two-second pause, then Earl's shocked voice came through. "Holy crap! Mr. Rogers, how did you know that? Is this all part of your plan? Amazing, I admire you!"

Steven covered his face, speechless about this chubby guy.

He understood that people like Earl were not well-liked in society.

So, when he met someone who treated him a little better, he wanted to give his all.

Even though Steven's kindness had a purpose, Earl always thought the best of it.

Steven couldn't bring himself to scold Earl anymore.

He had to turn on the AI chatbox to help him reply to Earl.

As long as it replied with "Got it," "Yes," or "I see" after Earl sent a dozen messages, Earl would be satisfied.

'Wait a minute, why do I feel like a douchebag?'

Steven shook his head, trying to shake off this thought.

Days passed peacefully.

Nora had turned the greenhouse into something presentable, reviving many dead plants.

In the fields, she planted some vegetables with the seeds Steven gave her, especially green onions and peppers.

These vegetables tasted best when freshly picked from the ground.

Steven also inspected the entire shelter inside and out, eliminating many safety hazards.

However, one problem still lingered in Steven's mind.

That was the issue of internet security.

He looked at the massive supercomputer in the control room, frowning slightly.

This computer could control the entire shelter, providing him with many conveniences.

Without it, the entire shelter would be paralyzed instantly.

If the shelter's network were ever hacked, the consequences would be terrifying!

'How do I solve this problem?' Steven fell into deep thought.

Steven couldn't help but think of Dawson, who easily found Steven's personal information online.

Even Earl could find Steven's phone number.

Internet security was a big issue, and he had to find a way to plug this gap.

Otherwise, if he ever encountered a top-notch computer expert, the shelter could be breached without a fight.
