Chapter 215 Passage Through the Snow
The sudden appearance of the gigantic monster freaked Steven out.
But he quickly got his head back in the game. After all, he'd faced death more times than he could count, so his nerves were pretty much steel by now.
Surprisingly, the monster didn't seem hostile.
Just as Steven was figuring out his next move, Earl and Henry crawled out of the snowdrift, looking for some ropes from Steven to climb down.
Their arrival caught the monster's eye.
Earl, seeing the massive creature, let out a terrified scream.
On instinct, he flung his right hand forward, activating his power.
Snow and ice lifted off the ground and hurled towards the monster!
Steven yelled, "No!"
But it was too late; in the snow, Earl was in his element, and it only took a thought for him to launch an attack.
A blizzard surged from the ground, mixed with heavy ice, and smashed towards the black monster!
The monster, which had been chilling in the snow, let out a bone-chilling scream and then zipped across the white expanse like lightning.
"So fast!" Steven blurted out.
Steven's eyes widened. The black monster was huge, but it moved on the soft snow like a bolt of lightning!
After dodging the ice and snow attack with ease, it charged straight at Earl!
The speed of the mutated creature was insane.
Without a second thought, Steven covered himself with his Supernatural ability.
"Double Speed!" he shouted.
With his spatial Supernatural ability, he could double his speed, the only way to keep up with the monster's attack!
Seeing the black monster closing in on Earl, Steven gripped his gun and fired off a bunch of rounds!
Shells hit the ground in heaps; Steven wasn't about to hold back on bullets!
The black monster was fast, but with his double-speed ability, Steven managed to aim quickly.
Armor-piercing bullets hit its body, sparks flying!
A few of its tough hairs broke, its movements slowed, and it let out an even angrier roar, but it didn't seem seriously hurt.
Steven couldn't help but gasp.
These were armor-piercing bullets!
They only managed to break its fur!
Taking advantage of the moment, Henry rushed over.
He stood in front of Earl, his muscles bulging rapidly, growing several inches taller, turning into a 6.5-foot-tall beast of a man!
His bronze skin turned as hard as stone, and he punched the giant monster!
The punch landed squarely on the monster's face, the powerful hit causing a huge dent in the snow beneath Henry's feet, ice and snow flying everywhere!
The monster's face twisted almost 90 degrees, and its massive body staggered back a few steps.
The monster's pupils shrank, letting out an insanely angry roar.
Steven thought the sound was definitely from a feline.
Was it a cat? Or a lion, tiger, or leopard that escaped from the zoo?
Whatever it was, it was super dangerous!
Because big cats of that size have almost no rivals, except for weasels.
Without hesitation, Steven put away his handgun and switched to a Magnum Sniper Rifle!
To deal with this monster, a handgun just wasn't gonna cut it; only a sniper rifle would do!
Using a sniper rifle in close combat wasn't exactly ideal, but Steven's ability meant he didn't need perfect aim to hit his target.
In the black monster's eyes, there were three people in front of it.
Henry, the tough guy, was with Earl, while Steven stood alone several dozen feet away.
Naturally, it decided to charge at Steven, figuring it could take him out first!
Steven quickly raised his gun and fired.
The gun's roar was deafening, and the bullet, boosted by his Supernatural ability, packed an even bigger punch!
The black monster sensed the danger and tried to dodge, but it couldn't outrun the Supernatural ability-enhanced sniper bullet!
It took a shot to the cheek, shattering two rows of steel-like teeth, blood splattering everywhere!
The black monster was pissed, suddenly curling up in the snow, turning into a spiky ball, and rolling towards Steven.
"Shit!" Steven didn't see that coming!
The huge spiked ball rolled towards Steven, cracking the snow deeply.
Steven's speed wasn't enough to dodge it.
But he didn't need to dodge.
"Dimension Door, open!" Steven shouted.
Steven opened a door to the extradimensional space in front of him.
While he liked to attack, defense was his strong suit!
Once inside the extradimensional space, any creature would be stuck in the static world, slowly withering away!
The black monster sensed the danger.
Mutant creatures' awareness of danger far exceeds that of humans.
The huge spiked ball made a sharp turn in mid-air, then rushed several hundred feet away.
"Damn, what a pity!" Steven yelled.
He almost caught the creature.
He wanted to study the difference between this mutated creature and a Psychic.
Earl and Henry quickly ran over, standing with Steven, their eyes cautiously fixed on the black monster.
Steven aimed his sniper rifle at it.
But Steven didn't fire, and the black monster let out two shrill cries, the sound so unpleasant that the three of them wanted to cover their ears.
"Is it cursing?" Steven asked.
"And cursing really badly," Earl said.
The three of them had speechless expressions on their faces.
The black monster didn't attack again; it realized that the three people in front of it were not to be messed with.
So it cautiously retreated step by step, then suddenly turned and ran away.
Soon after, it suddenly disappeared into the snow.
"Where did it go?" Henry was dumbfounded.
Such a huge monster, disappearing right before their eyes?
Earl said in shock, "Could it also have spatial Supernatural ability?"
Steven slowly lowered his gun and said, "Doesn't seem like it. If it had that ability, it would have used it just now."
Steven was very sensitive to spatial disturbances; he could feel that the creature had already run far away.
The three of them cautiously walked to the spot where the black monster disappeared.
Sure enough, they found a huge hole in the snow, leading deep into the ground.
"So there's a tunnel!" Henry said. "With this thing nearby, it's gonna be a pain to find people."
Earl crossed his arms, looking serious, saying, "But if this monster has been around, there shouldn't be any survivors in the school! Mr. Rogers, is the info you got really accurate?"
