Chapter 190 The Power of the Trap

Steven's intuition was the sharpest. After detecting the sound, he immediately looked out the window.

It was pitch black outside, and the distant scenery was indistinguishable.

He silently stood up and said, "I'll go check it out. You go ahead and eat."

Elinor and Nora watched Steven get up and also curiously looked out the window, but in the dark night, nothing was visible.

Steven slowly walked up to the second floor. The second floor was unlit, so the upper level remained shrouded in darkness from the outside.

He stood by the window and took out an infrared binocular to look around the villa.

Under the night sky, large swaths of red figures were slowly surrounding the villa.

A smile appeared on the corner of Steven's mouth. "Faster than I expected!"

He had already guessed the identities of these people.

Who else could arrive here a mere two days after his message was sent? Only the foolish souls of Cox Town.

And only these short-sighted people would rush over without investigation.

"If you want to die so badly, then come on!" A murderous intent flashed in Steven's eyes. Anyone who disturbed his peaceful life had to die!

Moreover, they came with a large force, definitely not to say hello but to rob supplies!

"Ordinary people can't threaten the safety of the shelter. I'll see if their village's Psychic has come. If he has, I'll take this opportunity to kill him, too!" he murmured.

Steven put away the binoculars and silently took out tactical goggles and a Magnum Sniper Rifle from the extradimensional space.

He set the gun barrel on the window, and the thick bulletproof glass was even thicker than the walls.

He was waiting for the right opportunity to open the window and kill that Psychic!

As for the other ordinary people, let them test the power of the traps he had set up!

At this moment, the first team from Cox Village had arrived at Emerald Estate, reaching the edge of the trap zone set by Steven.

Upon arrival, they looked at the villa with lights on in the distance, feeling like they were dreaming.

In the apocalypse, they relied on Earl's ability to build an ice and snow village and survived with ancient fishing techniques and stored food.

But they couldn't imagine that someone could still enjoy such a luxurious life!

A villager couldn't help but walk forward.

But as soon as his foot stepped down, he suddenly felt a sharp pain!

He cried out in pain and fell to the ground.

Everyone quickly looked and found that he had stepped on a wooden board full of sharp nails, which had pierced through his foot by about 3 inches!

The injured villager's face instantly turned pale.

In such a severe cold, with such a serious injury, he was likely to lose his life!

"Quick, carry him back!" The team leader immediately ordered someone to carry him away.

A group of people angrily cursed Steven. "How despicable he is to set traps in the snow!"

"Quick, notify the others to be careful on the road, there are nail boards. Don't get caught again!"

The team leader immediately had someone notify everyone.

Jared was in the rear commanding.

Upon hearing the news, he immediately ordered, "Proceed with caution. That man is prepared. But such simple traps can't stop us! Have everyone advance slowly. Use sticks and branches to probe the way and clear those traps!"

Six teams planned to attack Steven's shelter from six different directions in a surrounding formation.

After Jared's order reached each team, they immediately used local materials.

Some took sticks, some used shovels, and others cut branches from the roadside to clear the traps buried in the snow.

Steven saw all of this.

"Do you really think you're smart? The second wave of traps should be triggered." Steven's tone was mocking.

If they knew to clear traps this way, did they think Steven wouldn't anticipate it?

The first batch of people acted as sappers, five or six people holding tools to clear the traps ahead.

Sure enough, a few nail boards were cleared from the snow.

Everyone was delighted.

"This works! Keep going, and throw all these nail boards to the side!"

Encouraged, the villagers responsible for clearing the traps sped up.

At this moment, one person's stick felt a resistance, as if it had hit a rope.

The wire buried in the snow was triggered. It pulled the pin from a grenade, and a violent explosion sounded!

Flames shot up, instantly blowing five or six people nearby away!

"There's a bomb!" someone shouted out.

The villagers behind were scared and quickly retreated.

But they hadn't taken two steps when they felt a sharp pain in their chests and faces.

Opening their clothes, they saw their chests were covered in blood.

They had avoided the explosion but not the shrapnel.

Screams ripped through the night. The commotion also unsettled the other teams.

Then came another deafening explosion.

Someone else accidentally triggered a grenade trap, killing and injuring a dozen more on the spot!

"There are bombs! We can't go any further!" Many people immediately turned and ran back in fear.

But there were still many nail boards buried in the snow, not completely cleared.

Panicked, people lost their direction in the dark.

In their haste, they stepped on the nail boards, which pierced through their feet!

Some fell to the ground after stepping on a nail board, then got another one in the butt!

The nail board was lodged in their behinds as if it had been nailed to a wall, stuck there good and firm.

Some were even worse, falling face-first, with nails piercing their heads!

That person was in so much pain he wanted to die, but he couldn't see anything because his eyes were also pierced.

In despair, he grabbed the nail board with both hands, trying to pull it out.

The screws tore at his flesh, peeling off his face, with a blood-red eyeball still attached!

The people of Cox Village had never seen such a scene.

Although they had fought with the neighboring village, the most they did was hit each other with bricks and hoes.

But the purpose of village fights was to subdue the other side and seize resources and land.

Steven's traps, from the start, were simply meant to kill them!

The place was filled with wails and blood.

Panic seized the crowd, twisting their desperate flight into a deadly crush. What could have been an organized retreat, a lifeline from danger, dissolved into a maelstrom of flailing limbs and panicked screams. Instead of minimizing casualties, their chaotic scramble only amplified the carnage, leaving a trail of broken bodies in its wake.

Many who shouldn't have been hurt were injured by their own people.

In an instant, Cox Village lost over a dozen people and had more than twenty injured!

But until now they had just reached the outskirts of Emerald Estate 101, taking only the first step!
