Chapter 171 Henry, Do You Want a Wife or Not
After Elinor helped Steven take off his clothes, she tightly hugged his arm and asked gently, "Are you thirsty? Do you want a hot drink? Or are you hungry? I can make you some pasta."
Elinor's chest deliberately pressed against Steven's arm, almost engulfing it entirely.
Steven was a bit taken aback. Although she had always been obedient, this was the first time she was so proactive.
He quickly realized that Elinor saw Emilia as a competitor.
Indeed, the competition brought progress!
Steven chuckled to himself. In the future, with Elinor and Nora vying for his attention, he would be the biggest beneficiary.
Steven said to Emilia, "You sit here for a while."
Although Emilia found Elinor's hostility amusing, she said nothing and just nodded slightly, going to sit on the sofa.
Steven pulled Elinor into her room.
As soon as they entered, Elinor stared at Steven with a jealous look and said, "I just realized you like mature women!"
"Don't overthink it. I brought her here to take care of Henry," Steven explained with a smile.
"But you're not wrong about me liking mature women," he added.
Elinor felt there was more to his words. "What?"
Steven changed the subject and asked, "How is Henry's condition now?"
Elinor said, "His body has almost fully recovered, which is incredible! Normally, it would take at least three months for a full recovery."
She continued, "And, as you instructed, I secretly injected him with muscle relaxants. But even those couldn't fully restrain his strength."
Steven nodded. He was now almost certain that Henry's mutation was a type of physical enhancement.
"Is his mental state still normal?" he asked.
Steven had read online that some mutants experienced negative changes.
For example, that green monster abroad gained immense strength but had a bizarre mental state.
Elinor shook her head. "No, Henry seems perfectly normal, just like usual."
Steven nodded in relief. "That's good!"
He instructed Elinor to go to the living room and chat with Emilia.
After all, Emilia was going to be Henry's woman, and they needed to get along.
Upon learning that Emilia wasn't a competitor, Elinor felt relaxed, and her hostility disappeared.
She hadn't chatted with another woman in a long time and happily went over to talk with Emilia.
Steven then went to the hospital room.
When he opened the door, he saw Henry sitting on the bed, holding his phone and laughing strangely.
Hearing the door open, Henry quickly shoved his phone under the pillow.
"Steven? You're back! Why didn't you knock?" Henry's face turned red.
Steven raised an eyebrow, instantly understanding what Henry was doing. "Henry, were you just reading?"
Henry coughed, "I was just browsing. Nothing serious. By the way, you've been out all day. What were you busy with?"
Initially, Steven confided only in Elinor about the shelter, keeping Henry out of the loop.
However, now that the place was secure, he saw no harm in filling Henry in on the details.
Taking a seat on the chair by the bed, Steven proceeded to brief Henry on the situation.
After hearing Steven's account, Henry couldn't help but be amazed.
"These rich people really know how to live it up! I used to think they were just wasting money on useless things." He continued commenting, "Who would've thought that in the apocalypse, they would be the ones to survive. We ended up looking like fools!"
Steven said, "There are many wealthy people both domestically and abroad. Quite a few must have built shelters. Statistically, those with power and money do have a better chance of surviving."
Henry laughed nonchalantly, "Luckily, I made a good friend like you. That's why I'm still alive. I'm really fortunate!"
Seeing the straightforward Henry, Steven smiled warmly.
If he had any friends left in the apocalypse, it would definitely be Henry.
"By the way, have you noticed any changes in your body recently?" Steven asked.
Henry didn't hide anything and honestly told Steven. "I do feel different. Such a severe gunshot wound and my injury have almost healed in just a few days."
He lifted his shirt, revealing a bronze-toned abdomen with well-defined six-pack abs.
His new physique was as fit as a gym trainer's!
Although he was still bandaged, there were no visible bloodstains.
"And my strength has increased significantly." Henry said, reaching for the iron bed frame.
With a bit of force, the iron bars twisted and deformed in his grip!
Steven's eyes gleamed.
With such strength, people would believe he could kill a tiger in close combat!
"I feel like a monster now." Henry was both excited and a bit panicked about his changes.
Steven smiled slightly, "Henry, there's no need to worry. You've just awakened a powerful ability!"
Steven explained biological mutations to Henry and shared some information he had gathered from the global network.
After Steven's explanation, Henry finally understood everything.
To build mutual trust, Steven also revealed that he was a mutant.
He even demonstrated telekinesis on the spot.
Henry was stunned, and after a long while, he slapped the bed.
"God, no wonder I always felt you had so many things on you! So, that's the reason!"
With that force, he bent the bed frame beneath him!
Steven watched with a smile, feeling very pleased.
Henry had taken a bullet for him, proving he was trustworthy.
And the stronger Henry became, the more he could help Steven in the future.
This was where their friendship truly showed its value.
Steven said to Henry, "Henry, do you want a wife?"
Steven's sudden question left Henry momentarily stunned. "What?"
"If you want, I can bring you a wife!" Steven explained. "I guarantee she'll be beautiful, have a great figure, and be the mature, charming woman you like!"
Steven lowered his voice and gave Henry a knowing look.
Henry's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but swallow.
After Cara's death, although he never said it, he was deeply saddened.
As a bachelor in his forties, without money to marry, finding a woman to share his bed was no easy task.
Hearing that Steven had found him a wife, Henry was overjoyed!
He nodded eagerly. "Yes, of course! Where is she? Let me see her!"
