Chapter 492 Collapse

Steven gripped his sniper rifle, picking off enemies from his high vantage point.

To him, no enemy could sneak past his watchful eyes.

But he missed one direction.

Suddenly, Fluffy, his loyal companion, let out a roar and grew larger, shielding Steven with its body.

Steven was taken aback, not sure why Fluffy reacted like that.

In a split second, he realized something was closing in!

A gust of wind whooshed over his head, and Fluffy leaped into the sky!

Steven looked up, and his eyes widened in shock!

In the night sky, a dozen winged humanoid creatures appeared.

Their wings were bat-like, but their bodies were long and slender. They were a dozen winged Bronze Elite Zombies!

"Another new breed? These things are sneaky!"

Steven's sharp eyes locked onto the sky as Fluffy pounced on one of the Bronze Flying Elite Zombies, pinning it to the rooftop.

The other Bronze Flying Elite Zombies were already diving towards Steven!

Steven calmly opened a huge Dimension Door in front of him, then raised his gun and fired!

Two Bronze Flying Elite Zombies, caught off guard, rushed into the Dimension Door, and one was instantly sniped by Steven!

Seeing this, the remaining Bronze Flying Elite Zombies quickly circled in the sky, waiting for a chance to take Steven down!

Since most of the ground-based Bronze Elite Zombies had been taken out by Steven, they had their sights set on him, trying to kill him.

Luckily, Steven had Fluffy, who wasn't giving them a chance to launch a sneak attack.

On the rooftop, the roars of the Bronze Flying Elite Zombies were drowned out by Fluffy's cries.

Fluffy's sharp claws tore into its body, shredding its steel-like frame to pieces.

That Bronze Elite Zombie was ripped apart by Fluffy.

The remaining dozen Bronze Flying Elite Zombies, seeing this, had fear in their eyes.

They flew fast, making it hard for Steven to aim.

But at this distance, his Martial Prowess could still snipe them, and the Double Dimension Door's defensive range was huge.

If he couldn't win, he could always run.

So he wasn't scared.

However, those Bronze Flying Elite Zombies were clearly spooked. After a moment's hesitation, they suddenly flew in another direction.

They were heading towards the allied forces!

"Damn it!" Steven quickly shouted into the communication channel, "There are flying Bronze Elite Zombies above! Everyone be careful!"

These Bronze Flying Elite Zombies were too fast, and they had already figured out how to dodge Steven's sniping, making it tough to take them down quickly. Their aerial attacks were a nightmare for the allied forces.

Even with Steven's heads-up, they still managed to take out a bunch of soldiers in no time.

From his high perch, Steven spotted a massive horde of zombies approaching from the distance, likely hundreds of thousands of them!

"This is gonna be rough! Otha, it's all on you guys now!"

Steven took a deep breath.

The first wave of zombies had already almost wrecked their defenses, and now with the Bronze Flying Elite Zombies and this second wave, there was no way the allied forces could handle all these zombies.

Unless Otha and his team nailed the decapitation mission, or Steven would have to grab his people and bail.

Steven opened the squad's communication channel and filled them in.

"Stop fighting at the front, fall back, and be ready to retreat with me at any time!"

If it was just a few of them, they might have a shot at escaping using the Double Dimension Door's teleportation ability.

But if Otha and his team blew the decapitation mission, no one here was getting out alive!

After giving his orders, Steven's first thought was of Elinor in the church. He immediately planned to go find her.

But when he looked towards the church, he saw two Bronze Flying Elite Zombies diving down from above!

"Damn!" Steven couldn't help but curse!

Even though there were Psychic defenses around the church, no one had expected an aerial attack.

Right now, the two Bronze Flying Elite Zombies had stormed into the church, and it wouldn't take them half a minute to kill everyone inside.

Elinor was in serious danger!

Without hesitation, Steven activated the Double Dimension Door to teleport over. At this distance, he needed to teleport three times to reach the church.

And screams were already coming from inside the church.

Just as Steven was about to reach the church, a sharp white light burst out from inside!

The two Bronze Flying Elite Zombies that had rushed in were thrown out just as quickly.

They were blasted through the ceiling, their bodies covered in thick layers of ice, looking like two giant ice sculptures.

"Is there a badass in the church?" Steven breathed a sigh of relief, but it made sense.

No way the Snowfall Cult would leave Natasha, the cult leader, alone in the church without some serious protection.

The two Bronze Flying Elite Zombies crashed to the ground. Their ice shells shattered, and they got up, their eyes filled with fear as they hissed towards the church.

The Snowfall Cult Psychics guarding the church entrance immediately sprang into action, engaging the Bronze Flying Elite Zombies.

Steven didn't have time to worry about them. He stepped through the Double Dimension Door and entered the church.

Inside, it was pure chaos.

The congregants were terrified, many huddled together on the floor.

In the center of the church, Natasha stood, bathed in the light streaming through the hole in the ceiling.

She was calm, serene, with a holy aura surrounding her.

Steven glanced at her, thinking, 'Could the hidden expert of the Snowfall Cult be her?'

It was surprising, yet it made sense. Naturally, as the leader of the Snowfall Cult, she should possess great power.

Steven's gaze quickly fell on Elinor, who was clutching a medical kit and hiding behind a white pillar, looking scared.

Without a word, Steven walked over to her and pulled her into his arms.

"It's okay, I'm here."

Elinor's tense body instantly relaxed.

With Steven around, she felt an immense sense of security.

Natasha looked at Steven with some surprise.

She seemed puzzled as to why Steven had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

But after a moment of thought, she realized that Steven must have used some kind of spatial teleportation ability.

This rare ability made her take a few more glances at Steven.

The sounds of shouting and screaming outside grew closer.

A group of congregants, chased by zombies, ran to the church seeking Natasha's protection, pounding the door constantly.

"Steven, are we losing the fight?" Elinor asked nervously.

Steven's face was stern as he simply said, "Don't be afraid, come with me!"

At this point, Steven didn't bother hiding his ability. He directly opened the Double Dimension Door and took Elinor out of the church.

As for the others, he had no time to worry about them, or rather, he didn't have the ability to save too many people.

Steven led Elinor outside, where the situation was already chaotic.

More and more zombies and giant rats were breaching the defenses.

On the front lines, Megan and others were desperately holding the line, trying to prevent the zombie horde from overwhelming everyone.

Steven, with a cold expression, took Elinor to the top of a building.

Fluffy was still there, with the broken bodies of Bronze Flying Elite Zombies on the ground.

However, Fluffy hadn't eaten their brains, perhaps indicating that these creatures were different from Psychics and not mutated beings, but some kind of very special creations.

Steven looked down from the high vantage point, seeing that the situation was becoming increasingly dire.

Although the Psychic army wasn't completely surrounded and killed by zombies yet, ordinary soldiers were starting to die in large numbers.

If the battle kept going, the Psychics would eventually run out of juice and get swamped by the zombie horde.

Luckily, Steven and his crew had Supernatural ability food to keep their energy up, letting them fight at full strength.

But that wasn't a long-term fix.

"Otha..." Steven muttered the name, knowing that Otha and his team's decapitation mission was hitting snags.

But there was no other option. They were up against the entire zombie horde of Starlight City.

"Steven, what... what do we do?" Elinor asked, looking at the sea of zombies closing in from all sides.

They were out of escape routes.

People hiding in tall buildings were getting picked off by zombies climbing up.

Those hiding in underground garages and malls were getting trapped and slaughtered by the horde.

The Snowfall Cult had turned into a nightmare.

At this rate, the defenses would be completely overrun in ten minutes tops!

And apart from Steven and his team, who still had a shot at escaping, everyone else was doomed!

Steven could see everyone on the battlefield fighting like mad!

Megan was blazing with white flames, torching waves of zombies.

Leonard's Lord of Ice and Snow was freezing a wide area of zombies, but as soon as the ones in front were dealt with, more would flood in from behind!

Even the battle-hardened Sebastian Legion, with their energy draining, were seeing their white energy flicker out.

"Prepare to retreat! Once the defenses fall, I'll get you all out of here!" Steven said through the communicator to Earl, Henry, and Lily.

Earl was already panting hard.

He cried out, "Captain, I can't hold on any longer! Come save me!"

Steven spotted Earl in the crowd.

As a Control system Psychic, Earl had a few soldiers guarding him.

But the zombie horde was about to overrun them, and the terrified Earl was pale with fear.

Steven immediately ordered Fluffy to go down and fetch Earl from the horde.

Fluffy leaped from the tall building, scattering ice and snow, then charged through the horde, quickly reaching Earl and grabbing him by the collar to bring him back.

Earl sat on the ground, gasping for breath, with a look of relief on his face.

But Steven didn't just stand by.

He pulled out a bunch of grenades and explosives, tossing them into the densest parts of the zombie horde.

At this point, he could only try to ease the pressure on others as much as possible. After all, his abilities weren't meant for large-scale clearing.

Martial Prowess was powerful, but its range was limited.

Even if he took out hundreds of zombies at once, it wouldn't change the overall situation.
