Chapter 482 The Secret of the Snowfall Cult

Steven looked at Elinor. "Elinor, you and Lily should catch some sleep in the car first. Once the fight kicks off, I'll get you into the church."

"Natasha, the head honcho of the Snowfall Cult, is there. They're gonna fight tooth and nail to protect that place."

"When we need healing, we'll come to you."

Elinor nodded. "Got it!"

Being part of such a big battle for the first time, Elinor felt a mix of nerves and excitement. Finally, she could use her skills to show her worth! They'd probably face more crises in the future, so the sooner she got used to the battlefield, the more she could help Steven.

"Also, there are a few things I need to remind you of," Steven said, his tone getting serious.

Elinor straightened up, listening intently. The others were curious too, wondering what Steven had to say.

Steven looked around to make sure no one else was nearby, then pulled a few people into the car.

After closing the door, he turned to Elinor. "That Natasha isn't just anyone. She can help people awaken supernatural abilities, but I don't trust her powers."

"If she offers to help you awaken, you must refuse! Got it?"

Elinor's eyes dropped, and after a few seconds, she slowly nodded. Steven knew she was a bit disappointed. She wanted to become a Psychic to help Steven more, instead of just staying home, praying for his safe return. But since Steven said so, she'd follow his instructions.

Steven stroke her face and looked into her eyes, reminding her carefully, "Every gift of fate has already been secretly priced. So don't be greedy for small gains, or you'll suffer big losses eventually."

Elinor smiled sweetly, "I know! Are you that worried about me?"

Steven laughed, "It's not that I don't trust you; I just care too much about you."

Steven and Elinor had been together since the apocalypse started, almost six months now.

At first, Steven saw Elinor as just someone who could treat him when he was sick and keep him company when he was lonely. But over time, feelings developed. So Steven didn't want anything to happen to her.

If, hypothetically, Natasha's Frostheart had the power to control minds and made Elinor a threat to his life, what would Steven do then?

He had a clear answer in his heart and didn't want such a thing to happen, so he wanted to eliminate all possibilities.

The others, seeing Steven and Elinor's affectionate interaction, had different reactions. Henry smiled, Earl couldn't bear to look, being single and hurt by love, he didn't want to see such scenes. Even Lily, usually indifferent, turned her head, her expression unusual.

"Besides that, there's one more thing you need to do," Steven said to Elinor. "Keep an eye on Natasha for me!"

Elinor tilted her head. "Do you think there's something wrong with her?"

Steven thought for a moment and said, "Her very existence is a big problem. Just keep an eye on her every move and report back to me."

Natasha's ability, [Blessing], was just too powerful. If she could gather enough followers, she could whip up a massive Psychic army. No one would be cool with someone like that around.

Steven couldn't quite put his finger on why she made him uneasy. Maybe it was just being cautious, always on the lookout for potential threats.

"Okay, I got it!" Elinor said, taking the task in stride.

As they were chatting, there was a knock on the car door. Steven turned to see Sebastian standing there.

Steven rolled down the window. "What's up?"

Sebastian, looking relaxed, said, "Everyone's busy setting up defenses. The zombie horde could hit any time. You should get familiar with the area too!"

Steven chuckled, "You seem pretty serious about this!"

"Of course!" Sebastian replied, glancing at the defenses his team was setting up. "I've brought everything I have! We can't afford to lose this battle."

Then, gritting his teeth, he added, "Damn it, I hope Otha doesn't screw us over!"

Steven exhaled deeply and patted Sebastian's shoulder. "Do your best! Right now, besides trusting them, we don't have a better option."

Steven and his team got out of the car and started checking out the surroundings of the Snowfall Cult. As the mobile unit, they needed to be ready to support weak points at any time, so they had to know every inch of the place.

Steven found the best defensive position: an abandoned commercial building next to the Church of the Holy Ground.

The building was three to four hundred feet high and right in the center of the Snowfall Cult. From there, he could oversee the area and use his Supernatural ability to defend a radius of two miles.

To deal with zombies, he had Aubrey make special bullets. They had reduced penetration but would explode on impact, shattering the zombies.

Ordinary zombies weren't that tough, about as tough as frozen pork. Using a large-caliber sniper rifle with Explosive Bullets made it much easier to handle them.

For the tougher Bronze Elite Zombies, he had a batch of large-caliber armor-piercing rounds. Being in a high position also made it easier for him to command Lily and the others during the battle.

Winning this fight would be ideal, but if not, they needed to be ready to escape. So Steven headed to the abandoned building, planning to set up on the top floor.

But several Snowfall Cult Psychics blocked his way, not letting him enter the building.

"This is a restricted area of the Snowfall Cult. Please leave!" one of the Psychics said seriously.

"Restricted area?" Steven smirked, finding the term amusing. "Have you read too many novels?"

The Snowfall Cult had only been around for a few months, and this commercial building had nothing to do with them before. How could it be a restricted area now?

"We can't explain this to you. Mr. Rogers, please don't make things difficult for us," the Psychic was firm.

Steven and his team immediately sensed that something was off about this building.
