Chapter 70 Intimidation

Elinor raised the baseball bat in her hand. She looked at the massive block of ice in front of her and decisively smashed it with all her strength!

After all, Elinor had studied medicine, so she wasn't as repulsed by corpses.

The ice shattered with a sound.

Elinor's hand ached from the impact, and she cried out in pain, dropping the bat.

Elinor frowned slightly, rubbing her palm. "So hard!"

Without waiting for Steven to speak, she went into the house and returned with a large iron hammer.

"This is more useful!" She said with determination in her eyes.

Steven was silent for a moment, feeling he might have underestimated her.

Elinor raised the hammer and smashed it down hard.

Since Steven hadn't used much water, the ice layer wasn't very thick. Elinor was also quite strong, and she managed to break off a large chunk.

Steven held his phone, recording the entire process.

After the first smash, Elinor grew bolder and no longer felt any fear.

With the sound of cracking ice, the block shattered into pieces.

At this moment, they could hardly see what was inside, only a colorful mess.

But Steven knew what those were.

After fulfilling Steven's request, Elinor climbed back up.

"What's the point of recording this?" Elinor asked curiously while changing her clothes.

Steven smirked and sent the video to the homeowners group.

Elinor suddenly understood, "You want to establish your authority in the homeowners group so they won't dare to bother you anymore?"

Steven smiled faintly, "Not just that, I want to replace Andrew in their minds."

The neighbors feared Andrew far more than him because Andrew had a gun and would storm in to kill them and take their supplies.

Even though Steven had killed many people, he was still seen as someone who stayed at home and killed people by ambush.

Steven wanted to take the initiative, preparing for the day he might leave his home—if that day ever came.

Elinor nodded, supporting Steven's approach.

He sat on the couch to rest and checked the chat group.

Elinor cuddled up next to Steven, her legs together like a cute cat.

Her head was also next to Steven's, watching the reactions in the homeowners group.

They looked very much like a couple in love.

Elinor's feelings for Steven stemmed from dependence, a natural admiration for strength in women.

But for Steven, she was still more of a servant at this point.

As for love, he would consider it later. If they did fall in love, he wouldn't mind.

Even if he had feelings, he wouldn't be much.

Recently, the internet signal seemed to have worsened, and it took a full minute for Steven to upload the video.

It seemed that the heavy snow had affected the nearby base stations.

However, the Astralium Kingdom, as the world's strongest country, had top-notch communication standards.

So, it wasn't yet at the point of being unable to communicate. Long-distance communication might be more affected.

When the neighbors saw the video, they curiously clicked on it.

When they saw Andrew and others dying so miserably, many burst into laughter, tears streaming down their faces.

"Andrew, that devil is finally dead!"

"Dear, you can rest in peace now!"

"Finally... he's finally dead! We can go outside!"

"Fuck, this is great news!"

The neighbors hated Andrew deeply.

If Andrew hadn't led them to do so many bad things, many people in this building wouldn't have died.

Their relatives, friends, and loved ones were cruelly killed by Andrew and his men!

Such hatred was beyond words.

Steven sent a voice message in the group: [Andrew is dead. I did it.]

Elinor glanced at him resignedly, thinking, 'Wasn't it me who did it?'

Steven continued: [From now on, I'll be in charge of this building.]

The neighbors then remembered that the video was posted by Steven, and Elinor was in the video.

[Steven, did you kill Andrew?]

[You're amazing! Thank you for getting rid of that damn devil for us!]

[Steven, do you have any food at home? I'm starving. My son is dead, my daughter is dead. But I still want to live!]

[Steven, you must have food at home, right? Give me some, I'll do anything!]

When the neighbors saw Steven appear, they immediately begged him in a flurry of voices.

To them, the name Steven was synonymous with abundant supplies, a symbol of food!

Steven was a bit disappointed. Seeing their reactions, it seemed they didn't fear him much.

He turned to Elinor and said, "I killed Andrew, so why don't they fear me?"

Elinor replied without hesitation, "Because compared to that lunatic Andrew, you're a good person!"

Steven pointed to himself, laughing bitterly, "I'm a good person? Don't lie to me."

Elinor replied seriously, "To me, you are a good person! Because you've never killed anyone proactively."

"As for Andrew, he deserved to die!"

Steven said nothing, smiling. He didn't think of himself as a good person, but at least he didn't think he was a bad person yet.

That was because he hadn't been pushed to the brink, so he could still maintain basic moral standards.

Just then, someone sent a voice message.

"Steven, did Elinor move into your house? Why do you only let Elinor live with you, what about me? Why don't you let me in?"

She noticed what others had overlooked, that Elinor was helping Steven in the video.

So, it was likely they were living together!

Many people became jealous.

They dreamed of getting into Steven's house!

It was said to have a fireplace, an 80-degree Fahrenheit greenhouse.

It was comfortable, filled with supplies that could last them ten years!

They had tried storming it in the past but always failed.

But Elinor's situation gave them a glimmer of hope.

"Steven, I can do what Elinor does, and I can do it better! Let me into your house too!"

"Steven, I've always liked you. Can you be my boyfriend?"

"Steven, even though I'm a man, I'd do anything for you..."

Steven was stunned.

Elinor was also very surprised, feeling a sense of crisis.

As both a doctor and a woman, she was replaceable.

And she wasn't very skilled at relationships.

What if Steven found someone better and abandoned her?

Elinor bit her lip, silently resolving to show her value and solidify Steven's regard for her.

The neighbors were all jealous of Elinor, pleading with Steven to let them live with him too.

Especially Alice, who was almost driven mad by the messages!

Alice: [Steven, are you with Elinor now?]

Steven couldn't be bothered to reply.

Alice became anxious.

At that moment, she was huddled in a filthy room, looking like a madwoman.

Larry, Paul, and Zachary had been dead for days.

But Alice still had a glimmer of hope.

She believed that one day she could go to Steven's house and enjoy a good life!

With her cracked hands trembling, she typed: [Dear, now that Andrew is dead, can I come to you?]

[Didn't you say you wanted to live happily with me?]

[Didn't you say you'd keep Alice warm and fed, living a happy life?]

[You promised me, you have to take me in!]

[You can't be with other women; you're mine; everything about you is mine!]

Steven didn't expect Alice to still be alive.

He sneered and sent: [You're not dead yet?]

Alice's eyes lit up.

Alice's eyes lit up. 'So, dear Steven thought I was dead and let that bitch Elinor move in?'

'Yes, that must be it! Now that he knows I'm alive, he'll want me and not her.' she thought with ecstasy.

She trembled with excitement and said to Steven, "Dear, Alice is still fine! You liked Alice so much before, you won't change your mind, right?"

"Don't let Elinor stay in your house, let me in! I'm the one who loves you the most! Kick her out of the house!"

At that moment, the disheveled Grace and Ivy noticed Alice's strange behavior.

Seeing the light in Alice's eyes, they immediately realized she was talking to Steven.

They rushed over, faces contorted, and said, "Alice, don't think you can leave us to enjoy life alone!"

The three of them fought over a phone, desperately sending messages to Steven.

Ivy said hurriedly, "Steven, I'm not worse than Alice. I can do everything she can. I'm more considerate and will be devoted to you."

Grace chimed in, [Steven, I may be older, but older women know how to care for people. Young girls don't understand what it means to be gentle and considerate. Give me a chance!]

Steven treated it as a farce, listening to their messages and the quarrels in the voice recordings, laughing.

Elinor, feeling even more threatened, clung tightly to Steven's arm, as if afraid he would leave.
