Chapter 390 The Allied Forces
Sebastian walked out of the workshop with his hands in his pockets, moving leisurely.
Outside, it was freezing cold, and the snow was thick and daunting, but he didn't seem to feel the chill.
There were workers in combat uniforms standing guard around, and they all saluted Sebastian when they saw him.
Sebastian smiled and waved at the guys, then leisurely made his way to the factory office.
The temperature inside the room was very high; the steel plant had no shortage of coal.
Since they weren't making steel anymore, they used the coal to heat water and keep the place warm. Staying cozy was no problem.
At the office door, a girl in a small combat uniform was squatting there, drawing in the snow with a stick.
In front of her squatted a giant white wolfdog, its size several times that of an ordinary dog, almost as big as a giant Fluffy.
But at this moment, the giant dog was lying obediently in the snow, watching the girl write, looking docile and not at all fierce.
Its eyes even had a hint of cuteness.
Seeing Sebastian approaching, the big dog raised its head and barked.
The little girl in the snow also looked up, and when she saw Sebastian, a sweet smile appeared on her round face.
"Daddy!"
Sebastian walked over with a smile, picked up the little girl, and tightened the scarf around her neck to protect her cheeks.
"Didn't I tell you? Don't come out unless you have to; it's too cold outside. If you must come out, wear your hat and scarf."
The girl was named Patricia Robinson, Sebastian's goddaughter.
Her father was a coworker of Sebastian's who died in an accident a few years ago, so Sebastian adopted her.
Patricia smiled sweetly, "It's not that cold! The steel plant is very warm."
Sebastian pinched her cheek, "If you catch a cold, you'll feel terrible!"
He put Patricia down in front of the big dog, "You play with Morgan for a while. I have some business to take care of, and I'll come back to you later."
Patricia nodded obediently, then squatted down again, writing on the ground while saying in her sweet childlike voice, "Morgan, this is one, this is two."
The big dog Morgan looked down, appearing troubled.
It really couldn't learn this stuff!
Sebastian walked into the office, which used to be the plant manager's domain, decorated very luxuriously, but in a low-key way.
It didn't look ostentatious, but the expensive decorations exuded an air of nobility.
The communications officer was waiting for him inside.
"Mr. Nelson, she's been waiting for you for a long time."
Sebastian walked over and sat on the sofa, "She needs something from me; let her wait, so what?"
Despite his words, he still reached out and pressed the connect button.
Megan's delicate face immediately appeared on the communicator screen.
She was resting her chin on her hand, looking a bit impatient.
"Sebastian, you're really hard to find! You made me wait so long."
Sebastian smiled and said, "No one can stay by the communicator all day! I had something to do just now. What do you need? Just say it!"
Megan knew Sebastian's personality was like this.
After all, before the apocalypse, he was just an ordinary team leader at Frostwood Steel Plant.
Most of these workers were straightforward.
Megan got straight to the point. "West Mountain Base has been wiped out. What's your take?"
Sebastian shrugged. "The northeast part of West Mountain District's right on our doorstep. I doubt you're eyeing that. Their turf's too big for anyone to grab all at once. So, let's hash out how to split it."
Megan laughed. "That's simple! But there's still a problem. A heavy hitter dug in deep in what used to be West Mountain Base's turf. If we don't handle them, none of us can step foot there without risking it. Both my crew and Leonard's got taken out by them."
Sebastian's eyes narrowed. "Someone that powerful in Starlight City? Holding ground in West Mountain Base's old turf and bold enough to go head-to-head with both your crews?"
Megan nodded. "Yeah, he's the real deal. We've investigated. It's not some massive crew, but a tight, elite squad. Packed with Psychics, and they're no joke. They've got a shelter backing them up that's basically a military fortress. Even West Mountain Base couldn't crack them."
Sebastian stroked his chin; this was the first time he had heard something like this.
Frostwood Base was the most low-key among the major forces and had not interacted with Steven before, so naturally, they didn't know about Steven's existence.
Receiving this intelligence, he pondered silently.
He cautiously said to Megan, "If they're that tough, we can't just charge in blind. You know how it is—taking a long haul to fight on their turf means we're already down half of our firepower before we even start!"
Megan leaned in, persuasive. "That's exactly why we're bringing you in! Silverlake Base are already on board. If you join, we'll hit them together. The three of us make a deal, and Snowfall Cult's gotta send troops too. With all of us teaming up, we'll crush them and split the whole West Mountain District! What do you say?"
Hearing about the four-way alliance, Sebastian felt a bit more reassured, but he still had his doubts. "So, the crew that gave West Mountain Base that much trouble—that's who we're talking about, right? They were packing serious heat and still got wiped out. Are we sure we can?"
Megan knew Sebastian would ask this question.
She replied, "Relax, I've got the guy who built their shelter chilling at my place. I'll have a way to break their defenses and get in!"
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, thinking this might work.
With the four major forces in Starlight City joining hands, what place couldn't they take?
He then realized that Megan and Leonard invited him because they couldn't handle the West Mountain Base territory alone and were worried Frostwood Base might attack their bases from behind.
This deal was a sure win, definitely worth doing.
"I'll need to mull it over," Sebastian said, running a hand over his scruff. "But first, I need intel on that shelter—everything you've got."
Megan gave a quick nod. "No problem. Take your time. This is a golden chance for Frostwood. Trust me, you'll thank me later."
