Chapter 162 I Gave You a Chance
Steven's gaze had turned icy, and he pointed the handgun at Frank's forehead.
The dark muzzle of the gun reminded Frank of Steven's cold-blooded and ruthless killing scenes.
He knew Steven wasn't joking with him.
But he was very defiant, and at that moment, his heart was filled with hatred for Steven!
That hatred was glaringly obvious in his eyes, with bloodshot veins covering his eyeballs.
"Fine, I'll go!" Frank gritted his teeth and walked reluctantly towards the passage.
As he walked, he took another look at the luxurious decor inside the shelter.
It was such a lavish living environment, and even he had never enjoyed it in the past.
A strong sense of resentment clogged his chest, needing to be vented.
So, when he reached the passage, Frank suddenly turned around, glaring at Steven viciously, and said, "Steven, you don't keep your word. One day, you'll get what's coming to you!"
Steven just looked at him calmly.
Frank smiled, turned around, and walked into the passage.
Steven stared at his back for several seconds.
After hesitating for a moment, Steven raised his handgun and aimed at the back of Frank's head.
A hole appeared in Frank's head, going straight through.
Frank got an instant brain death without pain, and he collapsed limply in the passage.
Steven sighed and looked at Frank's body, saying, "Anger won't make you strong; you need power for that!"
He walked over to Frank and picked up the backpack from his back.
"I originally planned to let you live, but why did you have to seek death?"
Steven had been hesitating about whether to kill Frank or not.
Out of a sense of inner integrity, Steven decided to let Frank go.
It was Frank's last words that changed his mind.
"I already let you go, so I'm not ungrateful. At that moment, we didn't owe each other anything."
"But you threatened me later. Killing you is quite reasonable!"
Steven's logic was self-consistent, and he nodded in satisfaction.
In this Emerald Estate, Frank was the only one who knew his identity.
Moreover, Frank had some understanding of the internal structure of the shelter.
Who knew, one day, if he might bring trouble to Steven?
Steven felt a bit grateful to Frank because he gave Steven a reasonable excuse to kill him.
.
After killing Frank, Steven also put his body into the extradimensional space.
Then he turned on the room's multi-million-dollar sound system and played a cheerful tune.
"Mama, I just killed a man."
"I put a gun against his head and pulled my trigger, and now he's dead."
"Mama, life had just begun."
"But now I've gone and thrown it all away."
Steven grabbed a mop from the bathroom, whistling cheerfully as he mopped up the bloodstains on the floor.
"Hope this is the last time I have to kill."
"No one knows my past here, and no one will come to disturb me."
"If I can live here until the end of the apocalypse, or until the day I die of old age, that would be great!"
"But, it might still be difficult!"
Steven smiled and talked to himself.
Soon, he had cleaned up the bloodstains on the floor.
There was only one living person in the entire room, so it was exceptionally quiet.
The house was just too big, making it a bit boring.
"I should bring Elinor over! A mature man always needs a beautiful woman by his side to make life interesting."
"As for Henry..."
Mentioning Henry, Steven had other thoughts.
This shelter was large, with many rooms, but Steven wasn't very willing to let Henry move in.
After all, he and Elinor were still in their honeymoon phase and wanted some private space for just the two of them.
And she always managed to come up with new tricks, which would be hindered by having another person in the house.
For example, she could wear nothing but a white shirt or an apron.
With another man in the house, they couldn't fully enjoy themselves.
'Anyway, I already have a better shelter, so I might as well let Henry stay in the safe house.'
'First, he took a bullet for me, so I owe him. Giving him a good living environment is a way to repay him.'
'Second, there's no good way to put that safe house into the extradimensional space for now. It might as well stay in Sunshine Community as a backup base.'
'In case I need it in the future, I can still go back to live there. So, I need someone to stay and guard it.'
Steven had it all figured out, and this way, everything was perfectly resolved.
He believed that Henry would surely be very grateful to him.
There was just one problem he needed to help Henry with.
It was the kind of problem all men understand.
Steven and Henry were both physically normal men.
One was in his twenties, and the other was in his forties; both were physically strong, so they naturally had physical and psychological needs.
Steven had killed Cara, so he thought about compensating Henry with a woman.
"I promised Henry I'd find him a better one. But in the community, there aren't many women left alive, and even fewer who meet the criteria."
"It's a bit tricky. Oh well, I'll deal with this problem later!"
"If it really doesn't work out, he can find a few women in the community to live with, and make do."
Given the limited conditions, sometimes he couldn't be too picky.
Steven sat on the couch in front of a 172-inch TV.
He was curious about what Brock usually watched, so he grabbed the remote and turned on the TV.
The black screen slowly lit up.
Steven walked to the bar, which was filled with various branded liquors, many of which Steven had never even heard of, all special supplies from foreign wineries.
Steven poured himself a glass of fresh beer, drinking while watching the TV show.
He thought he would see one of the few remaining official channels, but to his surprise, a yellow-skinned female host appeared on the screen.
Alright, Steven admitted his foreign language skills were limited, and his spoken language was even worse.
He couldn't understand a word of what was being said.
"Strange. How can the shelter receive foreign channels?"
"Logically, the blizzard should have affected signal transmission, and even the range of cell phone signals is limited."
"How did he manage this?"
Steven was a bit surprised as he walked to the TV and picked up the remote to change the channel.
After switching, it was still a foreign channel.
Continuing to switch, Steven saw dozens of foreign channels!
Steven thought for a moment and immediately understood what was going on.
'This shelter must have a super-strong network system!'
Steven took a sip of wine and then turned to the control panel to check.
Following the lines, he indeed found something.
In the control room, there was a hidden door, which, when opened, revealed an independent server the size of a wardrobe!
"Having a server in your own home, that's awesome!"
Steven couldn't help but laugh, his eyes gradually lighting up.
Although he didn't understand how it worked, based on the received signals, it could be judged that the network system in this shelter was incredibly powerful.
The signal transmission capability could even reach a global level!
With this, Steven could access information from around the world through the internet.
