Chapter 329 Aftermath of Stimulants
Steven told everyone about moving back, and naturally, Nora, Elinor, and the others were very happy.
The safe house was too small, and with so many people living together, it was definitely not as spacious as the shelter.
The shelter, with its five-story building and complete living facilities, was almost like a palace.
Henry asked Emilia for her opinion, and she readily agreed.
Emilia inquired of Steven with particular interest, "Does my former villa still stand? I expended a considerable sum when I acquired it!"
After all, it was a villa she bought with her own money. Even though houses were worthless in the apocalypse, she still felt attached to it.
Steven shook his head with a smile. "It was blown to pieces a long time ago! But there are still many intact villas. You can just pick another one to live in."
Emilia sighed, feeling it was a great pity.
Even a big star had to pay a lot for a house, so she felt quite emotional.
However, Emilia had no objections to going back, as she was too bored here.
At Emerald Estate, she could hang out with Elinor and Nora when she had nothing to do, which was great.
So everyone started packing their things.
Steven didn't let everyone take everything.
"Just take the essentials for daily life. Leave the house as it is and leave some supplies behind. In case something happens over there, we can use this place as a temporary base," Steven said.
Everyone thought this made a lot of sense.
Since Steven's extradimensional space was not lacking in supplies, everyone stuffed the important things into Steven's extradimensional space.
Steven was the last to leave, locking the heavy alloy door.
No one else could enter this place except him, and he wasn't going to leave it for others to use.
Everyone went downstairs, and Steven took out the snowmobile, letting everyone get on.
At that moment, Steven suddenly sensed a gaze watching from a distance.
He turned his head and saw a figure in a black down jacket in the distance.
It was Chase.
Steven frowned slightly and walked toward Chase.
Chase didn't run and waited obediently for Steven to come over.
"What are you doing out here in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?" Steven asked.
Chase quickly said, "There was a big explosion from the west tonight. We were all woken up and couldn't sleep."
The explosion Chase mentioned was naturally from that missile.
Steven looked Chase up and down, thinking about his strange supernatural ability, and couldn't help but ask, "How's your body feeling lately? Any unusual sensations?"
Chase's supernatural ability was given to him by some people who called themselves the Snowfall Cult.
Steven had never interacted with those people, but he had a vague feeling that he would run into them sooner or later.
So knowing more about them could only be beneficial to him.
Chase shook his head. "No, I don't dare to use this ability easily. Mr. Flores warned me that if I use it too much, I might turn into fertilizer."
Steven nodded and didn't say anything more to Chase.
Chase's ability was of no use to Steven at the moment.
So Steven didn't plan to kill Chase or recruit him into his team.
After all, Chase had a large group of residents from Building 18 who depended on him.
These people had no grudge against Steven and posed no threat.
Steven didn't mind letting them live well.
He would let Chase live here, and if he needed him someday, he would deal with it then.
That night, everyone returned to the shelter.
Although it had only been a day and a half, returning here felt like a lifetime ago.
This place was almost turned into rubble by a missile attack.
But now, their enemies were gone, and nothing could disturb their peaceful life anymore.
Since it was late at night, everyone was tired, so Steven let everyone rest in their rooms first.
Once they regained their strength, Steven would reassign the houses.
There were still a dozen or so intact villas around, and Earl and Henry could pick any they wanted.
But Steven made it clear from the beginning that the shelter would not be shared with others.
It wasn't that he didn't trust Henry and Earl.
Steven trusted Henry very much, but he still had reservations about Earl.
As for Emilia, Steven only maintained a polite relationship with her because of Henry.
Steven didn't trust these two people, and they were more together for mutual benefit.
It was better not to let them move in.
From another perspective, living together was inconvenient.
For example, Steven had his own personal needs.
Having outsiders in the house would affect his freedom.
Henry had similar concerns and was happy to live separately.
As for Earl, after being used by Julia, he had developed a fear of women.
At home, Earl only dared to talk to Steven.
Earl was also happy to move out and live with his figurines and body pillows.
After a few days of turmoil and a month of anxiety, Earl could finally get a good night's sleep!
Steven, holding Fluffy, returned to his comfortable room.
Steven locked the door from the inside because he would be in a weakened state for a while.
Stimulants overdrew his strength, and the stronger the initial effect, the more severe the subsequent muscle soreness and fatigue.
Moreover, he had taken three shots in one go!
In the following days, life returned to normal.
Steven and Earl both entered a weakened state.
The feeling could only be described as weak limbs and a lack of energy.
Steven just wanted to lie in bed and do nothing.
Fortunately, he had many women at home.
Elinor, Nora, and Aubrey took turns taking care of him, which imparted a rather pleasant feeling.
Earl was less fortunate, lying in bed alone and recovering by reading comics.
Every day, Nora would bring meals to Earl's bed, but there was no feeding service.
Steven, however, could enjoy such high-level treatment.
As for Lily, she led her students on a difficult journey to Cox Town.
Cox Town only had some elderly, women, and children left, and many houses were vacant.
Lily and her dozen students occupied two empty houses.
The villagers of Cox Town didn't dare to interact with them.
Especially when they saw Lily in her West Mountain Base special forces uniform, they would instinctively hide.
The shadow left by the West Mountain Base special forces would probably never disappear until they died.
Lily and her group had solved their housing problem, but the food problem remained a significant challenge.
Lily's students were not fishermen. They didn't have the skills to fish through the ice.
Lily was soft-hearted and couldn't bear to rob the elderly, women, and children.
So she had to come to the shelter to find Steven, hoping he could share some food with them as previously agreed.
