Chapter 91 Found a New Path
The operation of the excavator was relatively simple. The main controls were two levers and a joystick for the bucket.
Having found the fuel tank, Steven took a barrel of diesel from the extradimensional space, subsequently pouring it in.
Then he climbed into the control room, turned the key, and the excavator started.
Fortunately, the low temperature didn't affect the new machinery much, and the excavator could still be used normally.
Steven operated the excavator, starting to push the snow to both sides.
At first, his speed was a bit slow, but gradually it picked up.
After half an hour, the excavator had dug a 10-foot-deep pit, and its tracks could even move slowly.
Luckily, the excavator had tracks instead of wheels. Steven even thought that in special situations, it could be used as a transport vehicle.
Its speed was a bit slow, but the excavator's tracks had no problem moving on the snow.
The excavator could even handle muddy swamps; it was really impressive!
With his not-so-skilled technique, Steven worked for about two hours and finally dug down to the hard building.
Overjoyed, he quickly cleared the snow along the building.
He slowly saw the huge roof platform of the gas station.
Since he found the gas station building, the next steps were easier. He just needed to clear the snow along the building.
Due to his lack of skill, Steven worked for four or five hours before he dug to the gas station's convenience store window.
Luckily, it was the excavator doing the digging, not him, or he would have been exhausted.
Steven got off the excavator and put it back into the extradimensional space.
Then he broke the glass on the window and jumped inside.
When he looked inside the convenience store, he was startled.
The snow had broken through the door, and most of the space inside was filled with snow.
Fortunately, he could still see the door at the back.
Steven stepped on the snow and went over; he needed to find the place where the fuel was stored.
Gas station fuel storage was usually underground, which avoided the risk of it being buried by snow.
It didn't take long for Steven to find the entrance to the fuel storage room.
Although the front of the gas station was quite large, the space at the back was actually very small, so it was not difficult to find an entrance.
Steven used a crowbar to pry open the iron door and turned on his miner's lamp for illumination.
The sight before him made him gasp. Four huge fuel tanks were in the storage room, holding about 52,000 gallons of fuel.
At first glance, it was quite impressive.
Steven thought for a moment, then silently retreated outside. He first removed the static electricity from his body before daring to go back in.
The gas station had stopped operating, and it was very dark inside. He turned on his miner's lamp and sealed the fuel pipes.
He wrapped the pipe openings with multiple layers of plastic and cling film to prevent leaks.
Then he put the four huge tanks into his extradimensional space.
Normally, with these three tanks of gasoline and one tank of diesel, Steven wouldn't have to worry about refueling his car in the future.
'Wait a minute!' A sudden realization hit Steven.
'If I can use the excavator to dig snow, doesn't that mean I can also dig out other places buried by snow?'
'In that case, the whole world will become a huge treasure trove!'
"A treasure trove just for me!" He shouted out.
Steven suddenly felt enlightened and was overjoyed at this realization.
Under the snow, there were many good things buried.
"Treasures, all are treasures!" He exclaimed.
Steven felt confident that he would never have to worry about shortages of any kind.
Everything in the world could be used by him!
Steven climbed up the path made by the excavator's tracks to the snow surface, then got on his snowmobile.
It was getting late, so he decided to end his search for the day.
He made a trip to the Walmart store and brought back two bags of junk food.
As soon as the snowmobile appeared outside the community, many people were watching him from their windows.
Steven drove the snowmobile to the back of the building, pretending to put it in the garage, then carried the two bags of food back to Building 25.
Without his instruction, the neighbors had already gathered there.
However, Alice didn't come this time. She seemed to have realized that Steven wouldn't give her any more food.
But Ivy was still not giving up and decided to try again.
Steven didn't even look at her.
He said to the neighbors, "Yesterday, you all worked hard dealing with those intruders! These food is your reward."
"We'll distribute the food according to the rules we agreed on before."
He distributed the food based on contributions.
There was only so much food, so if someone took more, someone else would get less.
In short, if you did less work, don't expect to eat your fill.
Because of the sniper rifle incident, everyone was even more afraid of Steven and didn't dare to say much.
Besides, they knew that Steven had killed the most enemies.
Dennis and Walter didn't have night duty last night, so they only got one portion of food each.
When Steven said one portion, it meant not enough to fill you up.
The two looked a bit disappointed.
Dennis said to Steven, "Mr. Rogers, if we just wait for them to come, who knows how long we'll have to wait."
"You killed more than a dozen of them; they probably won't dare to come. How are we supposed to earn rewards like this?" Young guys are always impatient.
Steven touched his nose and smiled, "Opportunities are for those who are prepared. I only said that if you kill an enemy, I'll reward you with five portions of food. I never said you could only wait for them to attack."
Dennis and Walter's eyes lit up. "You mean we can take the initiative!"
"So if we kill people from other buildings, we can exchange them for rewards?" The two were very excited.
They urgently needed food, and within the group, they had a desire to prove themselves.
They wanted to show their abilities and become Steven's trusted followers.
Steven thought for a moment.
So far, apart from the Rapids gang in Building 26, no one else had attacked the people in Building 25.
But no one could guarantee what would happen in the future.
Especially since Steven had revealed his snowmobile, more people in the community would definitely target him.
Walter and Dennis's suggestion intrigued Steven.
These people were originally brought in by Steven to be cannon fodder.
If they wanted to risk their lives, let them.
After all, this junk food wasn't valuable to Steven.
He immediately showed a look of approval, nodded, and said, "Of course! Everyone outside is an enemy. If you kill them, you ensure the safety of our group!"
"Now, anyone from any building other than ours can be killed, and you can exchange them for rewards!"
That was the plan, but because of the low temperatures and heavy snow outside, they could only target nearby buildings.
The first target, of course, was Building 26, where the Rapids gang was.
Dennis and Walter cheered excitedly.
The others had different expressions, lost in their thoughts.
But it was clear that some were tempted.
After all, everyone wanted to get more food.
