Chapter 507 Necessary Measures
Snowfall Cult.
After Steven and the other factions took off, the less than a thousand members left in the Snowfall Cult started rebuilding their homes.
Most of the survivors were the high-ranking members and their families, along with a few lucky followers who managed to escape the zombie horde.
They'd lost so many loved ones and friends, and their hearts were heavy with grief.
But as long as they were alive, no matter how hopeless they felt, they had to keep going.
So, under the priests' orders, they began cleaning up the battlefield, moving bodies to the building where the Bloodfeeder Vine was.
They also gathered the remaining supplies to prepare for their new life.
With fewer people around, the supply shortage wasn't as big of a deal anymore, which was the only silver lining.
High Priest Neil calmly directed everyone, methodically rearranging their living spaces.
It was just a matter of gathering tents, sleeping bags, and other supplies and moving to a house that could protect them from the wind and snow.
After assigning some simple tasks, he headed into the church to discuss the next steps with Natasha.
As usual, Natasha was standing in front of the altar, praying to the statue.
Neil closed the door and stood about ten feet behind her.
"Everything went pretty smoothly, didn't it?" A faint smile crossed his lips. "Now, in all of Starlight City, no one can stop us."
"And no one will suspect us. The tens of thousands of dead followers are enough to dispel any doubts and stir up sympathy."
"Now, we just have to wait for the investigation team to leave."
Natasha slowly opened her eyes, her gaze as cold as the frozen surface of the Gulf of Mexico.
"But there's still one thing that's worrying me."
Neil frowned slightly. "What is it? Our plan was perfect, no mistakes from start to finish. Even the Bloodfeeder Vine was handled perfectly."
Natasha turned around and looked at Neil quietly.
"That night, someone saw me using someone else's Supernatural ability."
A sharp glint flashed in Neil's eyes. "Are you talking about the woman Steven brought?"
The members of the Snowfall Cult were bound by rules and couldn't reveal anything about Natasha to outsiders.
But Elinor wasn't a member of the cult.
She had seen Natasha use other Supernatural abilities, which could expose Natasha's secret.
"This has always worried me, not knowing if it will become a problem," Natasha said, lowering her eyes.
Neil thought for a moment and then laughed, "Don't worry, it'll be fine."
"Even if you used other Supernatural abilities, so what? There are so many different types of Psychics in this world, who can say one person can't have multiple abilities?"
"Our Snowfall Cult suffered the most casualties in this battle, no one will suspect us."
"Even if they have suspicions, at most, they'll discover the secret of Frostheart."
"Silvercrest District won't care about this, and the other factions aren't worth mentioning!" Neil's face was full of arrogance. "Even if they know the secret of Frostheart now, it won't matter!"
Natasha nodded. "That's true. When you have absolute power, nothing else really matters."
"In today's world, it's all about survival of the fittest. So, once the investigation team leaves, we should make our move!"
Natasha lifted her chin, her eyes filled with determination. "The best part is always saved for last."
"If I can get the abilities of the leaders from each faction, my power will be off the charts!"
"I'll become the god of this new world!"
Meanwhile, Steven and Cindy had a long talk, and he had a plan in mind, with Cindy helping to iron out the details.
This plan was going to be brutal. But for their survival, it had to be done.
Steven said to Cindy, "Don't tell anyone else about this for now. If they find out, it'll just cause unnecessary panic. Only the two of us need to know the specifics."
Cindy blinked curiously. "Are you planning to do this alone?"
Steven smiled, putting his hands in his pockets, a hint of warmth in his eyes. "At this point, only I can do this!"
The concept of Psychic levels was becoming clearer.
The gap in abilities between different levels of Psychics was huge, and the opponent they were about to face was likely a level 5, the highest level known to humanity.
This wasn't something that could be won by numbers. They had to use every resource they had, and some necessary means.
At this time, Lily and Earl couldn't help much.
Luckily, they all trusted Steven completely, and at critical moments, they would do whatever Steven asked, which was enough.
The next day, the shelter was still peaceful.
Everyone believed the zombie crisis was over and that Starlight City was safe again. They were smiling.
They happily chatted about tomorrow and the future, even imagining trips to the Gulf of Mexico to see the vast ocean, go fishing, and so on.
Or maybe one day, they could talk to Silverlake Base about going on a sea trip.
Steven listened with a smile, occasionally sharing his thoughts. He looked like he had no worries at all.
After breakfast, he put on his combat suit and got ready to head out with his weapons.
Others, seeing this, curiously asked what he was going out to do.
Steven shrugged and smiled, "Even though the Zombie King is gone, there are still some zombies around. I'm going to clean up and practice the swordsmanship Lily taught me."
Hearing this, Lily stood up. "Then I'll go with you! Cleaning up zombies isn't something you should do alone."
Henry and Earl also spoke up, wanting to go with Steven.
Steven thought for a moment and smiled. "That's not necessary. We're not dealing with the Zombie King or a Bronze Elite Zombie. No need to make a big deal out of it."
"How about this, we'll split up and cover different areas around the shelter, each clearing a section."
Everyone thought Steven made sense and agreed to his suggestion.
So, they all put on their combat suits and grabbed their weapons to go hunting.
