Chapter 467 Decapitation Operation
In the car, Rolf was glued to his computer, breaking down the latest data for everyone.
"From what we've gathered, the number of zombies they can send out at once is pretty limited. We're talking tens of thousands at most."
"Yeah, it seems like the Zombie King can only control so many at a time. Or maybe it just can't turn corpses into zombies as quickly as we thought."
"We should hit their headquarters while they're busy attacking Emberwick Base. If we take out the Zombie King, the rest of the zombies will go nuts."
"And disorganized zombies are way less of a threat."
It was pitch black outside; they kept the lights off and took a long detour around the zombie horde to stay under the radar.
In the distance, the fight at Emberwick Base was heating up, with screams, zombie growls, and the screeches of rat swarms filling the air.
But the seven of them didn't bat an eye.
They were battlefield veterans, their hearts hardened like steel.
They wouldn't let sympathy distract them from their mission.
Or maybe they just didn't have much sympathy left for those people.
Otha turned to the group. "Get ready. According to Steven, there are a ton of Bronze Elite Zombies underground. And don't forget the Zombie King with its unknown powers."
Lanny clenched his fists and grinned, "Captain, what can these dead things do to us? Especially now that the underground is empty."
"When the time comes, you guys can just sit back; I'll handle them all myself!"
Theron sighed, looking exasperated at the young and reckless Lanny, his brows furrowed. "Lanny, we're not here to fight this time!"
"No matter how many zombies you take down, if the Zombie King gets away, it's all for nothing. Keep that in mind and don't get sidetracked by the other zombies."
Lanny's face fell, and he scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, sorry, I forgot!"
A few minutes later, they reached the subway entrance where the zombies were pouring out.
No zombies were left around; they had all headed to Emberwick Base.
The seven of them got out of the car, and Otha was already holding a black pistol.
It had a strange design, with a longer and larger barrel, and it was completely black with no reflection.
Everyone else's weapons were similar, all with that peculiar design.
Except for Theron, who didn't use a gun. Instead, he opened a large box he carried and took out two pieces of a weapon.
He quickly assembled them into a bizarre lance over 6.5 feet long!
The lancehead was long, like a giant cone.
It was a rare knight's lance, a weapon that had been out of use on battlefields for hundreds of years.
The lance was huge and incredibly heavy, meant to be used with cavalry charges.
For infantry, it was tough to handle such a weapon with any flexibility.
But this massive weapon was versatile, good for smashing, sweeping, chopping, or stabbing.
It was perfect for someone with immense strength, especially a Psychic.
Among the seven, only Lanny had his hands in his pockets, not holding any weapon at all.
They reached the tunnel entrance but didn't rush in.
Eris walked to the entrance and slowly squatted down. She placed her right hand above the entrance.
"Aerial View!"
An invisible mental force extended down the tunnel, exploring below.
This force traveled along the walls, splitting into two at forks, and continued to explore.
Dozens of seconds later, Eris withdrew her right hand and said to everyone, "There are still some zombies in the tunnel, but no special individuals were found."
Eris's ability could only cover a range of 1.2 miles.
This meant that the Zombie King was still hiding deep in the tunnel.
Otha decisively said, "Let's go down!"
With that, he gripped his gun with his right hand and jumped into the tunnel first.
The others followed him without hesitation.
The seven of them quickly advanced along the tunnel. With Eris's ability, they could clearly determine the terrain and the number of zombies and giant rats in the dark.
Theron led the way.
The scattered zombies they encountered along the way were directly smashed by his knight's lance.
After advancing for 3 miles, Eris suddenly said, "Found it! There's a large group of zombies ahead; this should be their lair!"
In her consciousness, she saw a dense mass of zombies, even more numerous than those outside!
And among this group of zombies, she also saw the Bronze Elite Zombies, whose combat power was comparable to Psychics.
Otha's expression tightened. "Did you find the Zombie King?"
Eris frowned, searching the zombie horde with her mental power.
There were too many zombies underground, making it difficult to identify individuals.
Eris instinctively looked for larger, stronger beings, but apart from the Bronze Elite Zombies, there were no other zombies with obvious characteristics.
But suddenly, she saw an unusual color. "I found a... monkey, with white hair."
Otha frowned. "A white-haired monkey?"
He said without hesitation, "Let's go! It's best if we can capture it alive."
No one had ever seen the Zombie King; its existence was just a hypothesis.
So it could look like anything, even an ordinary-looking zombie.
The only thing Otha could determine was that since the Zombie King needed to command the battle, it couldn't be too far from the zombie horde.
This was confirmed from Steven's last underground expedition.
Although Steven didn't see the Zombie King, that time, they were lured into an open area by the zombie horde and then surrounded by a massive number of zombies and Bronze Elite Zombies..
If it weren't for Steven's skills, they might have been in danger underground.
But Steven could confirm that the Zombie King was definitely nearby, commanding the zombie horde to attack.
So, the Zombie King must be among that group of zombies.
As for whether it was the white-haired monkey, they would capture it and find out!
The seven of them quickly ran towards the zombie horde at high speed!
As they advanced, Otha formulated a battle plan.
"Theron, Lanny, clear the zombie horde!"
"Eris, keep an eye on the horde and look for any unusual individuals. Notify me immediately!"
"The rest of you, come with me to capture the Zombie King!"
Everyone responded in unison, "Yes, sir!"
Soon, guided by Eris, they arrived at the zombie gathering place.
The zombie horde noticed them and immediately roared.
Theron laughed loudly, "Go die again!"
He swung his knight's lance, charging into the zombie horde like a human tank!
In an instant, hundreds of zombies were swept away, their foul-smelling blood spraying like rain, with severed limbs and zombie heads flying high!
In no time, the crowded zombie horde was cleared by Theron, creating a 30-foot-long path!
