Chapter 292 The Gap in Strength

The barking of the military dogs grabbed the attention of the special forces soldiers.

These dogs were super well-trained and wouldn't bark for no reason.

When they sounded the alarm, you knew something was up!

With the freezing weather, most animals had died off, leaving only the tough sled dogs to survive. These dogs were super valuable because they could do a lot of different jobs.

But the sled dogs in Cox Town were busy helping dig tunnels.

The special forces' military dogs were kept in the igloos by their handlers.

Even though they were all dogs, there was a big difference between having an official job or not.

"Something's up, go check it out!" The remaining soldiers quickly geared up, grabbed their guns, and rushed out of the igloo with their dogs.

The dogs' growls echoed through the town, making the villagers inside the igloos shiver in fear, too scared to step outside.

The soldiers soon realized that a few comrades were missing from the igloos and found bloodstains hastily covered on the ground.

"Enemy attack, enemy attack! Stay alert!" A squad leader shouted over the radio.

These well-trained soldiers immediately went on high alert, guns ready to face any threat!

But none of them noticed that the enemy they were so wary of was wearing the same clothes as them, standing right behind them.

Steven didn't waste any time, swiftly taking out two special forces soldiers with a single stroke.

The Dragon Roar knife, made of Adamantium, easily sliced through their necks.

The others reacted, spinning around, and gunfire erupted.

Steven had already slipped behind an igloo.

He noticed the only thing that set the combat uniforms apart was the gold star on the shoulder, so he quickly removed it.

Then Steven vanished from sight with ghostly movements.

Soon after, he infiltrated another squad from a different direction.

Everyone was on edge, dealing with this mysterious intruder, so they all put on their tactical helmets.

This made Steven blend in perfectly, like a drop of water in the ocean, making him even harder to spot.

"He's wearing our clothes!" A squad leader yelled over the radio, "Everyone, watch the people around you!"

So, a bizarre scene unfolded on the snowy streets of Cox Village.

All the soldiers pointed their guns at every comrade around them.

No one knew if the person under the helmet was a friend or foe. "Follow my lead, make the covert hand signal!" one squad leader barked.

The squad leader was sharp; even though they all wore the same gear, the special forces' hand signals were something only insiders knew.

Sure enough, as everyone made the hand signals in sync, Steven, who did nothing, was instantly exposed.

All guns zeroed in on him.

Without waiting for orders, the soldiers instinctively pulled the triggers!

The gunfire was as intense as a thunderstorm.

But the soldiers were horrified to see the bullets had no effect as they neared Steven.

The bullets just vanished!

The soldiers suddenly realized. "He's Steven, he's that Steven!"

Just hearing Steven's name cast a shadow over their hearts.

This was the guy who had caused them so much trouble, costing them over twenty comrades in a single battle!

'Isn't Steven supposed to be hiding in the shelter? How did he get out, and why is he here?'

These questions raced through every soldier's mind, but now wasn't the time to dwell on them.

Their intense firepower had no effect on Steven.

When they realized something was off and stopped firing, Steven deflected the bullets back at them.

The bullets might not hurt Steven, but they sure hurt them.

Even with bulletproof combat uniforms, the unprepared soldiers were instantly riddled with holes under such a dense barrage!

The gunfire startled Earl, who had been hiding at home, avoiding reality.

He opened the window and looked out at the snow-covered street, then saw a very familiar scene.

"Captain Rogers!" Earl called out.

Earl was dumbfounded, rubbing his eyes hard, thinking he was seeing things.

'It can't be wrong, that ability, it's definitely Captain Rogers!'

Earl felt a bit emotional.

'Is he here to take me away?'

One had to admit, if a person was a bit more confident, life could be quite happy.

Meanwhile, the battle between Steven and the special forces soldiers raged on.

Steven killed seven or eight soldiers by deflecting bullets.

The soldiers behind them quickly took cover behind the igloos, using their comrades' bodies as shields.

Among the crowd, Steven spotted two ghostly figures.

That feeling was very familiar to him, the same ability as Zane and the others.

They were Cyborgs.

A squad leader shouted to his team, "Don't shoot! His ability counters firearms, but it's useless against the human body. Use melee weapons!"Steven heard this and a mocking smile crept across his lips.

'Ineffective against the human body? Seriously? Sure, my extradimensional space can't actively hold human bodies, but that doesn't mean your close-range attacks can touch me!'

Not long after, four special forces soldiers armed with military daggers sprang out from four corners!

The two from the left front and right rear were noticeably faster, both enhanced with augmented physical strength!

A shrewd glint flashed in Steven's eyes.

His extradimensional space could only open in one direction. Facing four attackers from different directions at the same time would be tricky.

But even though the enemy had numbers, he wasn't alone either!

Steven completely ignored the attacks from behind and opened the Dimension Door in front of him.

Meanwhile, the two special forces soldiers attacking from behind suddenly felt a shadow over their heads!

A massive black figure descended from the sky, and two huge claws pinned them to the ground!

When it came to speed, felines were unmatched!

The two special forces soldiers in front of Steven quickly reached him, raising their daggers to stab at his vital points.

In the next moment, they were both inside the extradimensional space.

Steven closed the Dimension Door; he just needed to keep it closed for a while, and they'd be done for.

Behind him, the giant Fluffy grabbed the two special forces soldiers and stuffed them into its mouth.

Cyborgs were still too weak against a truly mutated lifeform.

The remaining special forces soldiers were already terrified.

Facing such a powerful and unequal enemy, they lost the courage to fight and scattered in all directions.

Pursuit wasn't Steven's strong suit.

Steven shouted, "Fluffy."

Without needing further explanation, Fluffy understood Steven's intent and excitedly chased after them.

Cats loved to toy with their prey.

Soon, blood-curdling screams echoed from all directions in Cox Town.

The entire Cox Town was covered in blood and corpses.

All the special forces soldiers stationed there were completely wiped out by Steven!

Steven wasted no time. He quickly found Lily's house and placed a chip and a SIM card under her bed.

After doing all this, Steven knew he couldn't stay there long and quickly left the room.

"Fluffy, let's go!" Steven said. The gunfire here must have already caught attention from across the river.

In no more than five minutes, Charles and the others would be back, and Steven didn't want to face four powerful captain-level Psychics head-on.

Steven's approach was always cautious and pragmatic!

Fluffy shrank to a smaller size and followed Steven as they quickly left Cox Village.

To avoid detection, they had taken a long detour when they arrived.

Now, they planned to take a detour on their way back as well.

Just as they were leaving the village and Steven was about to take out the snowmobile, a fat man suddenly chased after them and called out, "Captain Rogers, wait!"

Steven was momentarily stunned by the familiar voice.

He turned to see Earl, frowning and cursing, "Are you stupid? Chasing after me now, you might expose our connection!"

Earl, panting heavily, ran up and said, "Captain Rogers, didn't you come here to find me?"

Steven gave him a look, letting him figure it out himself.

Earl felt a bit disappointed but quickly smiled, "I know you must have wanted to see me too, right?"

"Go back quickly, I don't have time to chat. When they return, you might get into trouble," Steven said flatly.

Earl hurriedly said, "Captain Rogers, but you killed so many soldiers. When they come back, they'll be furious! I think staying here will be dangerous."

Steven looked at him and asked, "So, have you decided to leave with me?"

Earl's abilities were very useful; Steven could keep him as a subordinate.

Earl hesitated slightly. "I want to take a few people with me."

Steven's eyes showed impatience. "I don't have time to waste here. Either you leave with me now, or you find your own way to me."

He tossed Earl a new phone.

Through Lily, he had learned why Earl hadn't been able to contact him recently.

Then Steven took out the snowmobile and left Cox Town with Fluffy.

Earl stood there, hesitant, watching the snowmobile disappear into the distance.

Cowardly and afraid of death, he knew that the deaths of so many soldiers in Cox Town would surely bring a huge storm.

He couldn't stay here any longer; he had to leave!

Gritting his teeth, Earl ran toward Julia's house.

He wanted to convince Julia to leave with him, to a safe place where they could live happily ever after.

'Julia will definitely want to leave with me!' Earl thought confidently.

Soon, he arrived outside Julia's igloo.

But before he could knock, he heard voices from inside.
