Chapter 415 Empty Shell
Silverlake Base and Emberwick Base were utterly defeated and fled.
This battle marked the final victory for Steven and the Snowfall Cult.
Steven silently put away his sniper rifle, watching the remnants of Silverlake Base and Emberwick Base retreat, then turned to the jubilant followers of the Snowfall Cult.
For a moment, he felt an urge to fight these people again!
The biggest losses in this battle were suffered by these three factions, while Steven's people were almost unscathed.
Of course, this was due to Steven's thorough preparations in advance.
However, as a price, almost all the buildings around the shelter were destroyed.
This included the villa where Henry and Earl lived.
The snow fortifications they had spent days building were also seventy percent destroyed.
This battle was particularly perilous and made Steven realize the horrors of large-scale warfare.
The fearless fighting style displayed by the Snowfall Cult instilled a deep sense of dread in Steven.
He even thought that this religious organization was more terrifying than the base factions!
However, after some consideration, Steven abandoned the idea of attacking them.
The Snowfall Cult was a group of fanatics unafraid of death. It was not worth losing his team members to kill them.
Plus, the cult had numbers on their side. Unless they took out their Psychic, those ordinary followers would just keep coming, no matter how many got wiped out.
Steven put away his gun and went downstairs. He looked towards the back mountain, and sure enough, Sebastian had kept his promise and did not attack them, merely watching from the sidelines.
This made Steven regard Sebastian with a bit more respect.
Sebastian was indeed trustworthy.
Of course, this was also related to the strength that Steven and his team had demonstrated.
Trust must be built on strength.
Steven took out his phone and sent a message to Sebastian: "You can come and take the remaining food now!"
Sebastian quickly replied: "Wait a moment, we have other matters to attend to first."
Steven raised an eyebrow.
Other matters?
He vaguely guessed something, but it had little to do with him.
So Steven smiled faintly and didn't pay much attention.
He walked out of the shelter. At this moment, Lily, Henry, and Fluffy were all covered in blood, and Earl was panting heavily.
Thankfully, they had Nora's Supernatural ability food—those snacks had kept their reserves topped up.
Without them, there's no way they could've lasted through that brutal, non-stop fight.
"Alright, everyone. We won!" Steven walked over and patted each person on the shoulder.
When he patted Lily's shoulder, he felt it was as hard as steel.
"It's over, the fight is over. And you have avenged your students!" Steven comforted her.
Lily's icy, murderous eyes suddenly softened, and she leaned weakly against Steven.
It was then that Steven noticed a deep wound on her neck. Although the blood had clotted, it was still horrifying!
Steven's eyes narrowed, and he quickly carried Lily back into the shelter.
Just moments ago, this crazy woman had charged alone into the enemy's ranks, cutting down allied soldiers like vegetables and drawing a lot of fire.
It was sheer luck that she survived!
Steven took Lily to the infirmary. Elinor, who hadn't had time to celebrate the victory, was startled by Lily's wound.
She quickly prepared medical equipment and drugs to stop the bleeding and perform sutures on Lily.
Next, it was time to handle the aftermath with the Snowfall Cult and Frostwood Base.
The Snowfall Cult had suffered over half their casualties, even losing some Psychics, but to them, this battle was entirely worth it.
Paying such a heavy price in exchange for a long period of development for the Snowfall Cult was a trade they were happy to make.
Steven remained vigilant towards them.
He walked over and said to Neil from a distance, "The battle is over, you can leave. From now on, West Mountain Base is mine. Don't come near unless I say so!"
After this battle, Neil also witnessed the terrifying strength of Steven's team.
He bowed to Steven and said, "Thank you for helping us win this war! As agreed, no one from the Snowfall Cult, except for missionaries, will come near this land."
Neil understood that it was Steven and his team who had engaged the main forces of the coalition and inflicted significant casualties.
Otherwise, relying solely on themselves, it would have been impossible to fight against Silverlake Base and Emberwick Base.
He also realized that Steven had already formed an alliance with the people of Frostwood Base.
In other words, even if they hadn't sided with Steven this time, it would have been difficult to gain much benefit.
"I hope that in the future, our Snowfall Cult and you can coexist peacefully and respect each other," Neil said to Steven with a smile.
Steven squinted his eyes, "Of course! After all, I am a pacifist!"
There was no enmity between Steven and the Snowfall Cult, and both sides were wary of each other, so no conflict broke out.
Neil led the followers of the Snowfall Cult, chanting holy prayers, and drifted away.
On the snowy plains, their prayers echoed.
"Heavenly snow, earthly beings,
Our bodies are born from the earth,
Our souls come from the heavens,
The sun and moon shine upon our bodies,
Pure white snow cleanses our souls,
We give our bodies to the cold wind that blows across the land,
Thank the heavens for granting miracles to the land where the Snow God's people live,
May our hearts always remain healthy,
May I share joy with all my compatriots,
May I share their sorrows,
Please always praise the people of the Snowfall Cult,
Let us bear witness with our souls and bodies."
As he watched them leave, a flicker of caution crossed Steven's narrowed eyes.
The real winners this time? Not his team, but the Snowfall Cult.
Sure, Steven's crew had flexed their strength, scaring off other bases from messing with their turf.
But the Snowfall Cult had just scored breathing room—and with their knack for pulling in followers, they'd only get stronger.
Throw in Natasha's Blessing ability, their Psychic numbers would only skyrocket.
They were like a damn swarm of locusts, ready to devour everything in their path.
Initially, they couldn't develop quickly because of the constraints of several major bases.
But now, without those constraints, to what extent would they develop?
If they became so powerful that no one could restrain them, would they become Steven's new enemy?
All of this was unknown, but it was indeed very possible.
Steven understood the apprehension and fear that the major bases had felt.
"Maybe I've unleashed a beast. But right now, I've got no other move," Steven muttered under his breath.
Regardless of other forces, for now, he would only cooperate with forces that aligned with his interests.
As for future matters, they would be dealt with in the future!
After all, the expansion of the Snowfall Cult's power was just his speculation.
Steven silently walked to the battlefield and gathered all the useful supplies.
The coalition had brought elite troops, and their weapons and equipment were valuable, just enough to make up for Steven's losses this time.
Additionally, many Psychics had died in this battle; Steven observed that seven Psychics had been killed!
Following the principle of not wasting, he intended to absorb the Supernatural abilities of these people.
But when he found those Psychics, he unexpectedly discovered that three of them had become empty shells!
"Hmm? What's going on? Were they absorbed by someone else?" Steven found it very strange, as during the battle, no one should have had the energy to do such a thing.
But with no other explanation available, he didn't delve into it.
After cleaning up the battlefield, Steven turned around and smiled at his old friends. "Let's go back. It's time to get some rest!"
Fluffy jumped onto Steven, rubbing against his neck, leaving a large bloodstain on him.
In this battle, it had transformed into a war machine, crushing countless enemies.
Steven gently patted its head, then put his left arm around Henry and his right arm around Earl. The three of them, arm in arm, laughed as they headed back to the shelter.
