Chapter 448 A Squad of Seven

Starlight City, Strollway District.

This place markdc the northern edge of Starlight City, with Silverpeak City just beyond.

Right now, the snow was littered with hundreds of zombie corpses.

Calling them corpses might be a stretch since they were already dead to begin with.

They just followed their instincts, gathering wherever there was food.

Amidst the zombies, a few folks were moving around, collecting blood, flesh, and other samples from the zombies.

On a nearby hill, a guy dressed in black was watching the subway station exit intently.

His outfit was pretty odd.

In this kind of environment, he was decked out in pure black, even sporting large black sunglasses.

His cold, stern face was unnaturally pale, and his gaunt features looked like they were carved with a military knife.

This tall, thin, sickly middle-aged man had an aura that screamed "stay away."

Not only was he in black, but the six people around him were dressed the same.

In a snowy landscape, white was the best camouflage, and those who wore black fall into two categories—Either they were super confident in their abilities or they were super confident in their status, knowing no one would dare mess with them

Maybe there was another possibility: they were both.

These folks weren't from Starlight City; they came from the Silvercrest District headquarters.

There stood Blizzard City, a fortress that had been around since the apocalypse started, home to hundreds of thousands of people!

They were a special ops team sent by Blizzard City's top dog, Ian.

Zombies had been tearing through Starlight City for a while, and their numbers were starting to spill into nearby cities.

This was freaking people out in the neighboring cities and caught the attention of the Silvercrest District.

The new type of zombies here weren't the slow, easy-to-kill kind.

These were fast, super strong, and tough to kill monsters.

These creatures were a challenge even for fully armed elite soldiers, let alone regular folks.

Given the situation, the Silvercrest District had to take it seriously.

Everyone knew Starlight City had a population of 20 million.

If most of the dead here turned into zombies, they'd slowly spread across the country, causing a disaster beyond imagination!

The team led by the sunglasses-wearing Otha Soderberg was a special ops team sent to handle this zombie crisis.

After collecting the biological data from the zombies, the team members returned to Otha's side.

"Captain, we've finished collecting the data on these zombies," said Eris Thompson, a long-haired, tough expert in medicine and biology.

Otha pulled his gaze away from the distance.

He always wore sunglasses, which made him seem a bit odd.

He slowly said, "No thermal reactions detected. There's only a small group of zombies here, no evidence of Psychic control."

"Go back and study it carefully, see if these things are being controlled by someone or if it's the virus at work. The higher-ups are really worried about the zombies."

After speaking, Otha suddenly covered his mouth and coughed violently, like he was about to cough up his lungs.

The deputy captain, Theron Caudill, asked worriedly, "Otha, you okay?"

He was a slightly overweight, tall, and burly guy with short hair.

Despite his intimidating appearance, he always had a gentle smile on his face.

Otha waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine, just an old ailment."

A look of concern flashed in the eyes of several team members.

Otha's health had never been great.

But if you thought he was weak because of this, you'd be dead wrong.

Even in the entire Silvercrest District, Otha was a renowned strongman!

"From the way they're acting, it looks like the virus is pulling the strings, but..." Eris paused, hesitating. "Something feels off."

Otha's face stayed stone-cold, his sharp, pale features like they were carved from ice. "Relying just on our research is too slow; we need to fix this fast before the zombie horde spreads to nearby areas. We gotta get the local forces to help us out."

Theron scratched his head. "Since the apocalypse, Teksbo City and Starlight City haven't really been in touch. Word is, the shelters here are a mess, and the leadership keeps changing."

Otha replied coldly, "Doesn't matter who's running the show in Starlight City now, they have to cooperate with us on this issue! The whole South region falls under Silvercrest District's jurisdiction. We used to let them handle their own business, but now, with this huge problem, they need to step up and deal with the zombie crisis in Starlight City!"

Just then, a sharp-looking young guy walked over, stuffing a laptop into his backpack. "As you instructed, I've reached out to the leaders of the major forces in Starlight City on behalf of the Silvercrest District. They're set to meet this afternoon, including the one you specifically mentioned, Steven."

The guy named Rolf Tackett asked, puzzled, "According to our intel, Steven's team is less than ten people strong. We need help from big forces. Do we really need to call them?"

Otha replied calmly, "Our intel shows their area has the least zombie problems. And from what we've gathered, even though they're few, each one is an elite. To tackle the zombie issue in Starlight City, we need every force we can get."

Rolf shrugged. "You're the captain, you call the shots!"

Otha was used to Rolf's laid-back attitude. Who among the talented doesn't have some quirks? Plus, every member of this special ops team was a top Psychic from Blizzard City!

"Alright, let's head to the SC Central Building first," Otha said.

The SC Central Building was the former official office of Starlight City, located in the city's center, symbolizing the peak of power.

Choosing this spot was a way to show all the forces in Starlight City that, no matter the times, Silvercrest District still held control. Plus, its central location made it convenient for everyone to travel.

Deputy Captain Theron suddenly laughed heartily, "Even though we represent Silvercrest District, I wonder if these forces will bow to us!"

Sharpshooter Leandro McCall chuckled coldly, "Won't submit? Then we'll make them submit!"

If the subordinate forces didn't follow Silvercrest District's command, they'd be subdued by force.

The group chatted and laughed, not taking the major forces in Starlight City seriously. To them, even a big force like West Mountain Base could be flattened with a few more missiles.

Whether it was the four major bases, the Snowfall Cult, or Steven's team, they were all too insignificant compared to the truly massive military district-level forces.

The seven of them piled into a large snow vehicle. Lanny McCaffrey, with his shoulder-length hair and somewhat enchanting appearance, took the wheel.

After setting the navigation, the vehicle headed towards the SC Central Building.

Interestingly, in the past, no one in Starlight City could achieve precise navigation using satellite positioning. But for this seven-person team, it seemed to be no problem at all.
