Chapter 424 Zombie
Looking at the scene before him, Steven was stunned for a second. For a moment, he thought he was seeing things.
In this freezing wasteland, how the hell were there so many people all at once?
They were everywhere—like a damn crowd had just popped out of nowhere!
Even during the last big fight, there weren't this many bodies packed into one spot.
It was indeed a large group of shadowy figures moving towards them!
Steven jumped up from the couch and shouted, "Aurora, notify everyone in the shelter to gather in the living room immediately and gear up!"
As he spoke, Steven quickly changed out of his pajamas and into his combat uniform.
Aurora immediately sounded the alarm, alerting everyone in the shelter.
Although everyone was used to a comfortable life, they quickly changed clothes and rushed to the living room as Steven had instructed upon hearing the alarm.
Cindy was a bit surprised, "Steven, what's going on?"
Steven, now dressed in his combat uniform and holding a pistol, stared intently out the window. "Take a closer look outside. Do you see something out there?"
Cindy wheeled herself closer to the window.
She squinted and finally noticed the dense, shadowy figures on the horizon.
Cindy's face turned pale. "What the hell? Are other factions teaming up to hit us?"
Everyone else had also gathered in the living room.
Henry walked over and asked, "Steven, what's going on? Are we under attack?"
Steven picked up a pair of binoculars and looked out.
What he saw sent a chill down his spine.
Those shadowy figures weren't people; they were a large group of corpses slowly moving towards them!
Their clothes were thin and tattered, their bodies covered in bluish-purple spots, and some even had signs of decay on their faces.
However, the extreme cold had preserved them from rotting into skeletons.
"Zombies... they're real!" Steven gasped and muttered to himself.
Everyone was shocked and quickly crowded around to look through the binoculars.
Through the lens, the slowly moving zombies heading towards the shelter were unmistakably corpses.
Suddenly, Lily said unexpectedly, "Could these corpses have crawled out from West Mountain Base?"
Steven was a bit surprised. "How can you tell?"
Lily came over to Steven and pointed. "Look closely. Some of the zombies are still wearing West Mountain Base uniforms."
Following Lily's direction, Steven looked again.
Sure enough, upon closer inspection, some of the zombies were indeed wearing those standard military uniforms.
"They must be from West Mountain Base. Especially the civilians from The Fourth Life Warehouse," Lily said solemnly.
Steven put down the binoculars.
Despite his surprise, he gradually calmed down. "It's strange, isn't it? In such a cold ice age, the corpses haven't frozen stiff and can still move."
Elinor calmly explained, "It could be some kind of virus that was released."
Steven nodded. "Fortunately, they're just corpses. They look scary, but if you think of them as virus-infected hosts, it makes sense."
He put on his helmet and pulled a rifle from the extradimensional space. "Let's go take out these zombies! Remember, aim for the head to be effective."
Everyone snapped out of it and realized: Yes, they're just zombies. There's no need to be afraid.
With their killer combat skills and fully loaded gear, Steven and the other Psychics could mow down zombies like it was nothing.
There was no real danger; it was just a zombie-killing game.
Even Aubrey couldn't help but run over to Steven and plead, "Steven, give me a gun. Let me shoot a few too!"
Steven thought for a moment and handed her a rifle, "Stay close to me. And be steady when you shoot, don't hit our own people."
"Yay! This is so cool!" Aubrey excitedly changed into a combat uniform and followed Steven and the others outside with her gun.
As for Fluffy, Steven decided it was best to leave it at home.
He was mainly worried it might eat something it shouldn't and get sick.
Elinor and the others were still a bit afraid of the zombies, worried about getting splattered with blood, so they didn't go out.
They brought chairs over, ready to watch Steven and the others fight zombies while snacking.
Steven and the others stepped outside, their expressions relaxed.
They had been training hard recently but hadn't had a chance to test their skills.
Now they could use some live targets to vent their frustrations!
Henry transformed into a giant, grabbed a huge entrenching tool, and charged forward.
Steven shouted, "Henry, use a gun; it's more straightforward!"
Henry laughed heartily, "No need, let's save some bullets!"
Lily's eyes also flashed with battle intent as she drew her broadsword and charged forward.
The three more cautious ones stayed back, choosing to use guns to snipe.
Steven was steady, while Earl and Aubrey were simply practicing their marksmanship.
Steven raised his gun and fired, using only his precision shooting ability without any supernatural power.
A zombie was immediately shot in the head and fell.
Seeing this, Aubrey and Earl quickly raised their guns.
Aubrey laughed excitedly, "Earl, let's see who can kill more zombies!"
Earl chuckled, "I'll definitely win!"
They both raised their guns and started shooting.
But suddenly, Steven noticed something was off.
The zombie he had shot in the head was slowly getting back up.
"Too frozen to pierce? No way. Even if it's a zombie, it's still flesh and blood. A bullet should rip right through," Steven muttered. Just then, the zombie stood up—a gaping black hole in its head, but no blood trickling out.
It turned its gaze toward the shelter, and in that moment, Henry and Lily were already rushing toward them.
Suddenly, the previously slow and clumsy horde of zombies transformed.
They let out bone-chilling howls from their throats.
In the next second, thousands of zombies across the snowy plain roared in unison, charging at Lily and Henry like a frenzied pack.
Their sluggishness vanished—they sprinted like wild dogs, their crimson eyes crawling with something sinister, sending shivers down the spine.
