Chapter 141 Poison

After waiting outside for a few minutes, Frank heard the sound of the door opening.

He quickly poked his head out to look and saw Steven walking over with a silver briefcase.

Frank's eyes fell on the briefcase, feeling it looked very mysterious, not knowing what was inside.

Steven walked up to Frank and said calmly, "Do you know what I used to do?"

Frank was taken aback and then shook his head.

In the past, he was a rich scion, and Steven was just an ordinary young man in the neighborhood.

He didn't care who Steven was at all.

Steven continued, "At first, I was a boxer."

"In 2041, I won the championship in Southeast Asia in my first free fight."

"In 2042, I defeated the Japanese heavy hitter Kenji Tanaka, and then I swept through Japan's karate masters for three consecutive years."

"Later, I joined the French mercenaries and participated in battles in the Middle East for many years. People called me 'The Sly Fox!'"

"Tired of the fighting, I returned home. My current job is a simple hitman and warehouse manager."

Frank felt his scalp tingle as he listened. He didn't expect the man in front of him to have so many hidden identities besides being handsome!

Frank thought to himself, 'No wonder his shooting skills are so good, and he never hesitates to kill!'

'I knew it! This guy is either a retired urban war king or a professional hitman.'

'Sure enough, that's the case!'

'He's a real big shot. If I can follow him in this post-apocalyptic world, I will definitely survive!'

As Steven spoke, he opened the silver briefcase in his hand.

"When I was a mercenary, I often captured some difficult prisoners. So, to deal with those who were stubborn or had ill intentions, we had special methods."

He said this while staring at Frank.

Frank's body tensed up, extremely scared.

Steven opened the briefcase and took out a syringe filled with a blue liquid!

The deep blue color immediately reminded Frank of poison!

He had seen this scene in movies more than once.

The fear made Frank back away repeatedly. "Mr. Rogers. Mr. Rogers, what are you doing?"

Steven smiled as he walked towards him with the syringe.

"This is a chronic poison we often use. It takes a week to take effect after injection, and without the antidote, it's certain death!"

He continued explaining, "If you want me to trust you, let me give you a shot. Don't worry.Once we take Brock's shelter, I'll give you the antidote."

Frank's eyes widened, "What? It's really poison!"

"No, don't come any closer!" he called out.

Steven couldn't be bothered to argue, "You have no choice! At this point, whether you want the shot or not, you're getting it!"

With that, Steven pinned Frank against the wall.

Then Steven yanked down his pants and slowly but firmly injected the needle into his butt.

Frank shed tears of humiliation.

Steven quickly finished, put away the syringe, and smiled at Frank, "From now on, you're under my command."

Frank shakily pulled up his pants, and suddenly, his head spun, and he collapsed to the ground.

Frank lay on the ground and felt dry heaving.

He felt extremely uncomfortable, dizzy, nauseous, chest tight, and even had trouble breathing.

This made him even more certain that he was poisoned!

Steven said calmly, "No need to panic becausethis poison is slow-acting. I did this so that we don't have to doubt each other."

"This way, if you kill me, you won't survive either!"

"And once I get that shelter, I have no reason to kill you. Instead, I'll provide you with ample food and a comfortable living environment."

Frank dry heaved for a while. Although he was unhappy, he knew he had gained Steven's trust.

He said, "I understand. I'll contact Brock as soon as I get back, and we'll go as soon as possible!"

Steven nodded. "Good. You can go back now. I'll give you further instructions when needed."

Frank took deep breaths and struggled to walk down the stairs.

Steven watched him go, feeling slightly relieved.

Agreeing to cooperate with Frank to spy on that $1 billion shelter was a big challenge for Steven, too.

In fact, the so-called chronic poison didn't exist.

He used a drug called methylene blue injection, used to treat methemoglobinemia.

However, if injected too quickly, it can cause dizziness, nausea, and chest tightness, similar to poisoning symptoms.

Only by doing this could Steven ensure that Frank wasn't deceiving him and prevent future betrayal.

'First, clean up the problems in the neighborhood, then go check the shelter out!' Steven had his own plans.

He returned home and used surveillance to check the scene in the ward.

Henry had already woken up, and Cara was holding the baby, whispering to him.

Although Steven couldn't hear, he knew it wasn't anything good.

Steven smiled and walked over to open the door.

Hearing the door open, Cara immediately stopped talking, pretending to soothe the baby.

Steven ignored her and walked over to Henry with a smile. "Henry, you're awake! You really scared me, but I'm glad you're okay."

Henry still looked weak.

He forced a smile and said to Steven, "Luckily, you had Elinor here, or I would have been dead."

He continued saying, "I heard you took care of Owen and his men? You're amazing!"

Steven laughed. "They mean nothing to me."

Saying this, he opened his jacket to reveal the bulletproof vest underneath.

He explained, "I was wearing a bulletproof vest. They just had a lousy gun, while I thought it was some secret weapon at that moment. It was useless against me!"

Henry's eyes widened, and his mouth hung open, feeling extremely awkward.

He had risked his life to shield Steven from bullets, only to find out it was all in vain.

Steven laughed. "I should have told you earlier. Who would have thought they'd suddenly attack?"

"Good thing you're okay, or I'd feel really bad!" he added.

Henry felt awkward. "No, I didn't help you much. You even had to save me!"

Steven waved his hand. "No need to be so polite. Your intention alone moved me."

In a few words, Steven made Henry understand that he didn't owe him much; he just accepted Henry's goodwill.

Steven had to make it clear to avoid future trouble.
