Chapter 22 The Pursuer Is Still Useful

Steven pretended to be ignorant and said, "What's wrong? I haven't done anything wrong!"

Ivy replied, "Are you stupid? The city is now snowed in, and our food supplies at home are running low."

"At a time like this, sending some delicious food over wouldn't it be a perfect way to show your loyalty to Alice?"

"If I were you, I'd send over all the good stuff at home like steak, lobster, and so on."

"Alice will be so touched, and your chances will increase, won't they?"

Looking at the message from Ivy, Steven could already imagine the material girl salivating at the thought.

He sneered continuously.

Her behavior was no different from that of a beggar.

What's ridiculous is that they not only beg for food but also act as if they are bestowing a favor upon Steven by giving him an opportunity.

This disgusting behavior made Steven want to slap them hard!

Fuck!

Steven decided to play a trick on these scheming people.

[But we don't have much food left at home! Just enough for me to eat.]

Frowning, Ivy immediately criticized. [Stupid! How long do you think the snow disaster will last? Endure hunger for a couple of meals, win Alice over, and you'll hit the jackpot, won't you?]

[If you can't even bear to part with this little food, I don't think your feelings for Alice are genuine!]

Steven laughed even harder.

One badmouthing and the other praising, these two women seemed to have human nature all figured out.

But unfortunately for them, Steven had come back from the dead and had long seen through their shameless faces.

In response to Ivy's accusation, he replied with a casual [Got it.] then tossed his phone aside, ignoring her.

Seeing this indifferent response, Ivy became extremely angry.

[Got it? What do you mean by 'got it'?]

[I've been talking to you for so long, and this is your attitude?]

[Quick, bring the food over! I want to eat steak and foie gras, too!]

Ivy was a glutton. She hadn't had anything good to eat these past few days, and seeing Steven enjoy a feast made her mouth water.

Originally, she wanted to use Alice's name to trick Steven into sending all the good food over.

However, things didn't go as planned.

That "Got it" almost drove her to the brink of collapse!

Could it be that he was no longer interested in Alice?

No, absolutely not!

Recalling Steven's enthusiasm for Alice over the past few years, Ivy shook her head immediately.

"His mind just blew a fuse!"

Feeling upset, Ivy sought out Alice and exaggeratedly described the situation.

Of course, she told Alice that she was approaching Steven to ask for supplies on her behalf.

With a cold expression, Alice said, "Who is Steven? Do I know him? Don't mention him from now on!"

Now, if Steven wants to pursue her again, he must apologize sincerely for the events of the past few days and pay a hefty price to earn her forgiveness.

Poking Alice, Ivy said, "This Steven is clueless. Don't you have other loyal suitors?"

In their neighborhood, many colleagues worked in the warehouse.

Among them were Alice's other suitors, such as Paul, the most enthusiastic one.

Alice naturally knew who Ivy was referring to.

She disdainfully sneered. That Paul couldn't even be considered her Plan B.

Although he had worked at Walmart before, Paul didn't even own a house in Starlight City and was still renting.

Alice was simply using him for some convenience, with no genuine interest in him.

Ivy advised, "It's so cold outside now, and with heavy snowfall. We can't go out to buy things. Let's use him to our benefit first!"

After some thought, Alice found Ivy's suggestion reasonable.

So she sent a message to Paul.

Unexpectedly, within five minutes, Paul obediently ran over and even brought a backpack of food.

Working at the Walmart warehouse meant they often had discounted goods they could bring home.

Thus, they naturally had some supplies at home.

With just a word from Alice, Paul was as excited as if he had taken a stimulant, specifically selecting good things to bring to her.

And Paul, patting his chest, assured. "Alice, whatever you need, just tell me. You know, for you, I can do anything!"

For a rare moment, Alice smiled at Paul.

"Thank you, Paul! You're so kind."

A few sweet words and she sent Paul on his way.

Then, back in the house, she immediately changed her demeanor.

"You, an ugly duckling, dare to have thoughts about me? Dream on!"

In the entire building, the atmosphere was gradually becoming strange.

The extreme cold, even with the air conditioning running constantly, kept the indoor temperature below freezing.

This was something the southerners in Starlight City couldn't adapt to.

Without the habit of stockpiling supplies, the two days of ice had already depleted everyone's refrigerators.

Although Clara insisted that everything was fine and the snow disaster would soon pass, everyone had their own concerns.

But Steven, watching from the sidelines, was quite pleased with the situation.

On doomsday, all his preparations were extremely adequate, and his life was even more comfortable than before the apocalypse.

He was like an outsider, quietly observing the unfolding situation outside.

After being dealt with by Steven, Andrew and his men did not come looking for trouble again.

They knew Steven's home was not easy to break into.

Moreover, with one of Andrew's legs nearly useless, he would be a lifelong cripple within days if he couldn't get to the hospital.

As for his men, drenched and with no means of heating, they were all falling sick with colds and fevers.

Without a way to stay warm, they would probably die from the high fever before succumbing to the shortage of food.

At home, Steven sprnt time playing games and chatting in groups.

During his free time, he would also work out.

After all, there were many international brands of fitness equipment at home.

Alternatively, he would read various professional books he had downloaded from the internet.

Such as "The Doctor's Manual" and "The Militia Training Manual."

He acquired this specialized knowledge. It would be best not to need it, but in case of an emergency, this knowledge might save his life.

Outside, snow was falling heavily, and the sky was shrouded in clouds, making it hard to distinguish between day and night.

On the third morning, Steven got out of bed and looked at the clock.

"It's about time. The show is about to begin!."

Steven said calmly.

And at that moment, the chat group totally blew up with debates!
