Chapter 211 Bullying
Heidi smirked as she spat out those nasty words at Cindy.
Cindy just stood there, eyes wide, tears streaming down her face.
No one stepped up to call Heidi out; instead, they all started laughing.
Some even clapped, thinking Heidi was spot on.
"Heidi, that's enough! We're all classmates. How can you be so cruel?" A short-haired, good-looking girl stepped in front of Cindy.
That was Cindy's best friend, Aubrey Mitchell. If it weren't for her always pushing Cindy's wheelchair, Cindy might not have made it this far.
Heidi clutched her stomach and burst into wild laughter.
She shot back, "Aubrey, who do you think you are to talk to me like that?"
With a look of disdain, she pointed at Aubrey and said, "How dare you, who got in through special consideration, talk back to me! Have you forgotten your place?"
In a prestigious school like this, the hierarchy was even more rigid.
Heidi was the daughter of a billionaire, while Aubrey, though from a decent family, was considered the lowest tier at Innovation Academy.
Aubrey's face turned red, and she clenched her fists, saying, "So what if your family is wealthy? Can your family's money save you now?"
Heidi snapped, "Shut up! No matter what, the gap between you and us can never be erased! As soon as we leave this place and breathe free again, you and I will still be worlds apart!"
Heidi looked at Cindy with venomous eyes, laughing and pointing at her.
She said, "Cindy, it's because of you that we've lost so many classmates! You should just give up and stop clinging to life!"
Tears welled up in Cindy's eyes. She didn't say a word back to Heidi's vicious curses, just lowered her head, letting the tears fall on her pale hands.
But Aubrey couldn't stand seeing her friend insulted like this.
She shot back, "Heidi, Cindy has the right to live. You can't say that! You can't blame the deaths of others on Cindy!"
At that moment, another girl with a long ponytail and a princess-like vibe stood up.
She said slowly, "But a disabled person who can only sit in a wheelchair does drag us all down."
The girl was Tessa Wood, the daughter of an official from Southern State.
She walked over lightly, her eyes fixed on Cindy, a natural arrogance on her face.
"So, Heidi isn't wrong. You are a burden," she said. "In the past, everyone didn't leave you behind because of our classmate bond, but you shouldn't be so clueless!"
She continued, "Are you using your disability to morally bind us? That's really shameless, honestly."
With these two girls leading the way, others who had long been dissatisfied with Cindy, or just wanted to see someone suffer, began to criticize Cindy as well.
Cindy, despite having polio, was stunningly beautiful and a top hacker, which made her very popular at Innocation Academy in the past, with many boys eager to be her knight and protect her.
Naturally, this made many girls jealous of her.
Now, the long-suppressed malice was being released along with everyone else.
"Cindy, can you stop dragging us down?"
"Seriously... if it weren't for Mrs. Evans being soft-hearted, I would've ditched you ages ago."
"Please, can you just go find a place to die already?"
Cindy kept her head down, not saying a word, but her pale hands were clenched so tightly that veins were popping out.
Aubrey stood alone in front of her, trying hard to defend her. "What have you ever done for Cindy? It's always been me taking care of her. Don't blame your own miserable situation on someone else!"
Heidi pointed at Aubrey and sneered. "Aubrey, you're so pathetic. She's a noble lady from a prestigious family, and you're just a special consideration student."
"If it weren't for her health issues, would she even be friends with you? I think she just wants to use you to feel superior!" She continued, "Don't be stupid. If she were fine, she wouldn't even bother with you!"
Aubrey shot back, "That's not true! Cindy isn't like that."
Cindy kept her head down, not saying a word.
But the chattering of the girls around her made her very uncomfortable.
"So noisy," Cindy muttered softly.
But her words were drowned out by the crowd's argument.
Among the students, a girl with sophisticated burgundy hair and delicate features suddenly walked over.
She said, "Everyone, stop arguing! Now we should be united and help each other!"
As soon as the red-haired girl spoke, the other girls' tones softened a bit.
Because her family background was top-tier in the class, and she herself was a class officer named Michelle Cooper.
Michelle looked at Cindy gently, lowered her head, and said, "Cindy, don't worry! Even though you're a bit of a hassle now, we won't give up on you! I believe you won't blame us, right? Let's continue to be good friends in the future!"
As she spoke, she smiled and extended her right hand to Cindy.
Michelle seemed so gentle.
She even stood up to speak for Cindy, who was being attacked by everyone.
But her tone made Cindy feel a bit uneasy.
Cindy, however, didn't reach out her hand.
Michelle waited for a moment, her expression a bit awkward.
She tilted her head, trying to look into Cindy's eyes through her bangs.
She said, "Are you unwilling to even shake hands with me? I've always been the one who cares about you the most!"
The surrounding classmates all had a look of watching a good show.
Someone even said, "Michelle, you're too kind! You're actually being nice to a total loser like her."
"Cindy, what do you mean? Michelle is offering to shake hands with you. Don't be so ungrateful!"
"Could it be that her legs are crippled, and her brain is also malfunctioning?"
The girls were mocking Cindy, while the boys watched from a distance, not intending to help at all.
In such a repressive environment, watching someone else get bullied gave them a sick sense of pleasure.
Cindy clenched her hand, and just as she was about to reach out, a sudden noise came from behind the crowd.
Everyone instinctively turned around, and then a piercing scream rang out.
A ten-foot-high metal window outside the gym was pushed down, and an eighteen-foot-long, black, metallic claw reached inside.
The claw grabbed Tessa's head and effortlessly lifted her into the air.
A grotesque face appeared outside the gym, a sinister smile on its lips.
"Meow!"
