Chapter 303 The Chip
At West Mountain Base...
After returning to the base, Lily found some time to visit The Fourth Life Warehouse.
She had been away for a month and wondered how her students were doing.
However, upon her arrival, she was shocked to find that nearly half of her students were gone!
"How could this happen? Why?" Lily was both shocked and angry, her body trembling slightly.
Many familiar faces had disappeared. If her guess was correct, those students were likely dead.
Her resentment toward West Mountain Base grew deeper.
The students who remained looked completely numb.
They no longer showed the same fear as before; some looked at her expressionlessly, while others had eerie smiles.
"Ms. Evans, you're back!" Warren walked up to Lily, a hint of struggle in his eyes.
The other students just quietly looked at her, greeting her softly, no longer crying like they used to.
Lily took a deep breath. "Warren, come with me for a moment!"
She pulled Warren aside and asked seriously, "What happened during the month I was gone?"
Warren tightened his clothes. Since coming to West Mountain Base, he always wrapped himself in thick clothing, covering as much skin as possible.
If he could, he would hide his entire body.
"Ms. Evans, why were you gone so long? Many of our classmates were taken away and never came back!" Warren said.
Lily was shocked but grabbed his shoulders in confusion. "There are so many people in The Fourth Life Warehouse, why did they specifically target you?"
Warren looked up, his hollow eyes filled with hopelessness. "Because for human experiments, young and vigorous individuals have the highest success rate."
Lily's anger and despair were evident. This was something she hadn't anticipated.
But even if she had known, what could she have done?
She alone couldn't possibly fight against the entire West Mountain Base.
Even though she had reached a cooperation with Steven, she needed to wait for the right opportunity to try to get her students out.
Lily clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms, the pain helping to alleviate her inner turmoil.
Warren suddenly spoke, "Ms. Evans, have you forgotten about us? Did you abandon us after becoming the captain of the special forces, living a better life?"
Warren's eyes were filled with doubt, and he seemed to have lost the will to live.
Compared to other classmates, he endured more pain every day.
As a result, he and the other students began to doubt whether Lily had given up on them.
Lily looked into Warren's hollow eyes, feeling a chill down her spine.
Her students now seemed like a group of hopeless zombies.
"No! I've been trying to find a way to get you out!" Lily said very seriously, "It won't be long, I promise I'll get all of you out of here!"
"It won't be long!" She emphasized again with determination.
At this moment, she felt her students were like dry firewood being thrown into the furnace by West Mountain Base.
If she delayed any longer, none of them might survive. This was something Lily could not tolerate!
Lily left them some of her saved food and comforted them before leaving The Fourth Life Warehouse.
Currently, the students had almost lost hope of escaping West Mountain Base.
But even so, she had to try.
After leaving The Fourth Life Warehouse, Lily found a dark, secluded corner.
After confirming no one was around, she took out a phone from the compartment in her boot.
This was the phone she used to contact Steven.
She had retrieved it when she went out with Charles and others.
The phone was stolen in Cox Town and wasn't connected to West Mountain Base's network, making it undetectable.
However, the downside was that Lily couldn't use it to communicate with the outside world.
But Steven had already considered this. The SIM card he gave her was a powerful signal receiver.
It was encrypted through multiple servers, making it undetectable by West Mountain Base's network.
Steven had sent her a message explaining how to use the SIM card and instructed her to contact him once she returned to West Mountain Base.
She saw the message when she retrieved the phone.
Lily inserted the special SIM card into the phone and sent a message to Steven: [I've returned to West Mountain Base. I need to get the students out as soon as possible. I need your help.]
Although Steven never promised to personally rescue Lily and her students, he said he would decide the level of assistance based on the importance of the information Lily provided.
Currently, he was Lily's greatest hope, and she could only plead for his help.
Soon, Steven's message came through: [Find a way to insert the chip I gave you into any computer in the base's network center. Once we control West Mountain Base's network, we can help you escape.]
Lily's heart skipped a beat; this was no easy task!
West Mountain Base was filled with surveillance.
Entering the heavily guarded information department and inserting a chip into a computer was extremely difficult.
But she understood that if they could hack into West Mountain Base's network, they could paralyze the entire base for a while. This would give her a chance to escape with the students.
Despite the danger, it was her only chance. Determination flashed in Lily's eyes.
Lily: [Okay, I'll get it done! When the time comes, I hope you remember your promise.]
Steven had promised to at least provide some food and temporary shelter for Lily and her students.
Additional assistance would depend on Lily's contributions.
Steven replied without hesitation: [Of course, no problem.]
Lily turned off the phone, removed the SIM card, and placed them in her boot compartment and inner pocket.
The information department was also in The Second Life Warehouse, about 1640 feet from where she lived.
She was familiar with the layout of The Second Life Warehouse. The next step was to find the right time to sneak in.
'Who would've thought, after all these years, I'd be back to my old profession!' Lily thought and took a deep breath, her eyes quickly becoming resolute.
Back when she was a bodyguard, she had received professional training.
