Chapter 416 Top-tier Force

In the distance, on the snowy plains.

Megan and Leonard led their defeated troops, struggling to escape to this place.

They were in a sorry state; the grandeur they had when they arrived was matched by the misery of their retreat.

Combining the forces of both factions, fewer than a hundred soldiers remained, and they had even lost five of their powerful Psychic captains!

This battle had nearly halved the armed forces of their respective bases!

Leonard himself had been slashed by Lily, and his injury was not light.

Adding to that, his anger was worsening his condition.

"Snowfall Cult, Sebastian, those bastards betrayed us!!" Leonard pounded the car, the loud noise expressing his inner rage.

But anger was of no use.

Defeat was defeat.

The reason they lost was that they underestimated their opponent. They failed to gather enough intelligence before making assumptions.

They thought Steven only had a small team and a modest shelter.

So they didn't take him and his people seriously.

But when the real fight began, they realized they were gravely mistaken!

Judging by firepower and Psychic levels alone, Steven's team was no less formidable than the former West Mountain Base!

Moreover, as the defending side, they had the advantage of the terrain, making it possible to counterattack even if outnumbered.

So their loss was not undeserved.

If they had known it would be like this, they might have brought all the forces from their bases!

Or they might have chosen to negotiate with Steven, more amicably dividing the territory left by West Mountain Base.

But unfortunately, there's no medicine for regret in this world.

Megan and Leonard sat in the same car.

In the emergency retreat, most of their vehicles were destroyed, and now they only had four left.

Hearing Leonard's complaints, Megan was also gnashing her teeth in hatred.

She was unfazed by the revelation that Snowfall Cult would break their agreement, but why would Frostwood Base also help Steven?

This was the point she couldn't understand!

If Sebastian Legion from Frostwood Base had joined the battle, the situation on the battlefield would not have been so dire!

After all, Sebastian Legion was best at large-scale warfare!

"Sebastian, how much did Steven offer you to make you betray us!" The more Megan thought about it, the angrier she got. She pulled out her satellite phone, ready to contact Sebastian and question him!

But Leonard suddenly stopped her, "Don't be impulsive!"

"Hmm?" Megan stared at him, not understanding what he meant.

Leonard muttered, "Sebastian and his crew didn't lay a finger on us—they never really jumped into the fight. My guess? They cut a deal with Steven and stayed on the sidelines, playing both sides!"

He clenched his teeth and spat, "Sebastian's gang's always been about playing it safe. If they can score without throwing a punch, they're all over it!"

They were old friends and rivals, and Leonard understood Sebastian's character very well.

Megan said angrily, "What about our agreement? He broke his promise, causing us heavy losses. What do you say about that!"

Leonard sighed. "Both our crews are wrecked. You really think we can go after Sebastian for payback? Let's just hope he doesn't take a shot at us while we're weak."

But just as he finished speaking, a rumbling sound reached their ears.

It sounded like an avalanche or like thousands of troops charging!

Leonard and Megan's faces changed simultaneously; they had heard this sound before.

"Sebastian Legion!"

On the vast snowy plains, four cars were loaded with people, moving slowly.

Sebastian led his more than five hundred men, intercepting their path.

"Hahaha!" He straddled Morgan, laughing his ass off. "Megan, Leonard, what's the rush? Can't stay for a chat?"

Megan and Leonard had no choice but to come out and face the fully intact Sebastian Legion.

At this moment, the entire Sebastian Legion was in high spirits.

They hadn't participated in the previous battle, only watched from the sidelines, eager to fight!

So now they gave Megan and Leonard the feeling of a pack of wolves!

Megan and Leonard became tense.

If a conflict broke out now, they might both die here!

"Sebastian, you didn't keep our agreement to attack Steven's shelter, and now you're here. What do you want?" Megan's eyebrows furrowed as she pointed at Sebastian and shouted.

Sebastian smirked and sneered, "Isn't it obvious? You guys are rich; I'm here to collect some tolls. Is that too much to ask?"

Faced with Sebastian's blatant robbery, the people of Silverlake Base and Emberwick Base were furious.

But they were helpless; they were all wounded and couldn't withstand another large-scale battle.

Leonard said to Sebastian, "Sebastian, I don't understand! If we teamed up to take down Steven's base, we could've split West Mountain and Eternal River! But you played both sides! Did you already know how strong Steven was?"

This was the doubt in Leonard's heart; he had to ask, even if he lost, he wanted to understand why.

Megan also stared at Sebastian; she didn't know his reason either.

Sebastian shrugged, arms crossed. "It's simple. We don't have the wheels or the juice to handle that much turf. Even if we won, I'd get crushed by Silverlake and Emberwick when it came to splitting the spoils. So, Steven offered me a thousand pounds of food to sit back and chill. Easy call."

He threw his hands up. "He paid me to do jack, and you wanted me to throw down. What would you pick?"

Sebastian's words left Leonard and Megan speechless.

In fact, they did have such a plan.

Once they took down Steven's shelter, they would immediately use their high mobility to occupy the best territories and resource points.

In this regard, Snowfall Cult and Frostwood Base couldn't compete with them.

They just didn't expect Sebastian to think of contacting Steven.

Sebastian didn't want to waste words with them. "Alright, let's talk price" His grin turned sharp. "What's it gonna take to get you outta here?"

Megan and Leonard had no choice but to offer a large amount of supplies to get Sebastian to let them go.

Sebastian was very happy; they hadn't done much in this battle.

But in terms of supplies, they made a huge profit!

And with the decline of Silverlake Base and Emberwick Base, from now on, they would rise to the top tier of forces in Starlight City!

"Everyone thought I was a fool, but now look, who is the real fool?" Sebastian laughed heartily.
