Chapter 338 The First Time Seeing Such an Arrogant Person

Steven drove to the entrance of West Mountain Base.

It wasn't until he was about 328 feet away from the base that he vaguely noticed a few people ahead.

After all, it was a snowy landscape, and they were wearing white clothes, making them hard to spot.

However, those people saw Steven's car first.

"Snowmobile." Austin immediately recognized the vehicle, a look of excitement flashing in his eyes.

In the South, such vehicles were extremely rare.

After the Ice Age began, it became the most convenient mode of transportation.

Silverlake Base also had their own vehicles, modified snowmobiles, but these couldn't compare to the genuine ones.

Not only were they slower, but they also consumed more fuel.

Even so, the number of modified vehicles they had that could function properly was quite limited.

Brian whistled, "Looks like someone from another base is here!"

Steven noticed them at this moment, his eyes narrowing. "Someone got here ahead of us!"

Earl and Henry also became cautious, preparing for a fight.

Henry said in a deep voice, "Could they be from the other factions Cindy mentioned?"

Earl swallowed. "Hard to say. They could also be nearby survivors."

Steven sneered. "At this point, let's not entertain unrealistic thoughts. How could there be any living people around West Mountain Base?"

If there were any, they would have been captured by West Mountain Base, used as test subjects, and then turned into high-quality protein.

"So, they might be our enemies?" Earl was a bit nervous.

"Probably! But so what? We took down West Mountain Base." Steven pulled out his gun and calmly loaded armor-piercing bullets. "Even if a fight breaks out now, we have nothing to fear."

Although unknown enemies had appeared, these people couldn't possibly be the main forces of the other major factions.

The combat strength of Steven and his three companions was already formidable.

In a skirmish in Starlight City, they feared no one.

The car stopped not far from the groups from Silverlake Base and Snowfall Cult.

Three car doors opened simultaneously, and Steven and his two companions stepped out.

They were all dressed in combat gear.

Additionally, Steven had a strange black cat on his shoulder, making the people from Silverlake Base and Snowfall Cult look serious and cautious.

They saw the golden sword emblem on Steven and his companions' combat gear, mistaking them for special forces from West Mountain Base.

From the perspective of soldiers and Psychics, West Mountain Base was the most formidable among the four major bases.

"I thought everyone from West Mountain Base was dead! Didn't expect anyone to be alive," Austin said coldly, looking at Steven and his companions.

Everyone was very tense at this moment, with all three sides ready for battle.

The relationships between the major factions were complex. Rather than being outright enemies, they were wary of each other and competed for territory in Starlight City.

So, it wasn't surprising if any two factions suddenly teamed up or attacked each other.

Steven glanced at the outfits of both sides.

One side was dressed in combat gear, while the other wore ordinary clothes.

Steven made a judgment: one group was from another shelter, and the other was likely the faction Cindy mentioned, formed by ordinary people.

The presence of these two groups at the entrance of West Mountain Base made Steven feel a bit troubled.

He didn't want to clash with any faction because he had enough supplies and no need to compete with others.

But West Mountain Base was his conquest, and he wasn't about to share its resources with anyone.

Hearing Austin's words, Steven had a quick idea and said, "What are you doing here? Are you planning to start a war with West Mountain?"

Brian, hearing this, raised his hands and took a few steps back with a smile. He said, "Don't misunderstand, we're just here to watch the show. Snowfall Cult has always advocated for peace and doesn't want to conflict with any faction."

After saying this, Brian and his people smiled and gradually left.

Brian never fought battles without profit. It wasn't worth clashing with Silverlake Base over a snowmobile.

Since the entrance to West Mountain Base was blocked, there was nothing to gain by staying, so he decided to leave.

That's what Brian thought, but Austin had a different view.

Austin pondered for a moment, then looked at the obviously attacked West Mountain Base.

Austin suddenly sneered, "West Mountain Base is probably already destroyed. You remnants of West Mountain dare to talk big here!"

They had been in West Mountain District for a long time. If West Mountain Base still had strong combat power, they would have come by now.

So Austin concluded that the people in front of him were just remnants of West Mountain Base.

Steven squinted his eyes.

The entrance to West Mountain Base had been blocked by Steven himself.

Without abilities like Steven's and Henry's, it would be impossible to clear the debris at the entrance and transport the large amount of supplies inside.

Steven looked at Austin and said, "Since you've already figured out that West Mountain Base is destroyed, there's no need for us to waste words here. Alright, do whatever you want!"

Steven began to step back, whispering to Henry and Earl, "Let's retreat!"

After all, the two groups in front of them couldn't do anything here. Steven planned to pretend to leave now and come back after they were gone.

If a conflict could be avoided, it should be.

But just because Steven had this idea didn't mean others did.

From the moment they arrived, Austin had his eyes on Steven's snowmobile.

Steven's snowmobile was top-notch, an extremely rare commodity in this Ice Age.

Anyone who saw it would want it.

Austin was convinced that Steven and his companions were remnants, and with more people on his side, he wasn't about to let this opportunity slip by.

"Stop! Did I give you permission to leave?" Austin shouted with a sneer.

Steven and his companions had planned to leave, but hearing Austin's arrogant words, they all squinted their eyes.

Even Fluffy's eyes flashed with displeasure.

Was this person talking to them?

Steven looked at Austin with a puzzled expression, his eyes under the mask as if he were looking at an idiot.

Did this guy not realize he was facing three Psychics and a powerful mutant creature?

"We don't want any trouble. Do whatever you want, but don't mess with us!" Steven didn't want to fight Austin.

After all, Austin had a backing organization that was no less powerful than West Mountain Base.

Killing Austin might bring a lot of trouble to his peaceful life.

Austin laughed heartily and said, "Do you still not understand the situation? Leave the car, and you can go."

"Remember one thing, in this chaotic era, might makes right!" Austin said. "I can easily kill you all, so you must do as I say!"

As he spoke, Austin took off his gloves, revealing two slender hands.

In the next moment, his hands glowed with a deep blue light, and the surrounding air seemed to get colder.

But that was probably just the effect of the cool color; Steven and his companions, wearing temperature-regulating combat suits, couldn't feel the change in external temperature.

"Psychic?" Earl frowned.

Austin sneered, "That's right, I'm a Psychic! I assume you've heard of Psychics. Killing small fry like you is a piece of cake for me."

"Leave the car, and I won't kill you! Otherwise, I don't mind staining this white snow with some red blood," Austin added.

Even the usually mild-tempered Henry was a bit angry at this point. "I've never seen someone so arrogant in my life!"

Austin sneered, "Well, now you have! Enough talk, leave the car and get lost!"

The people around Austin sneered but didn't make a move, clearly believing that Austin could easily kill Steven and his companions.

Steven shook his head helplessly. "I don't want any trouble. But if you're looking for death, there's nothing I can do."

As soon as Steven finished speaking, the once arrogant Austin suddenly felt the scenery before him change rapidly.

Without even lifting his head, Austin saw a sky filled with dark clouds.

Before he could realize what was happening, Austin's brain stopped functioning.

In the eyes of the others from Silverlake Base, they saw Austin's head suddenly fly off his neck and fall heavily to the ground.

It was like a watermelon smashed on the ground, blood spilling everywhere.

Everyone was stunned; they didn't know what had happened.

But before they could react, a bloody maw enveloped them.

Fluffy opened its mouth wide, biting off half of their bodies.

After chewing a few times, it seemed to find the taste unsatisfactory and spat them out.

"Only one Psychic among them?" Steven asked.

Fluffy wouldn't eat ordinary people.

He walked over, picked up Austin's head, and absorbed his Supernatural ability.

As it turned out, the amount of Supernatural ability in Austin was pitifully small, offering minimal benefit to Steven.

"Just a newly awakened Psychic! I don't know what made you so arrogant," said Steven.

Earl also said smugly, "Exactly, young and arrogant, thinking they're invincible just because they have a Supernatural ability. He deserved to die!"

Steven said calmly, "People who haven't experienced the harsh realities of life are like this. It seems Silverlake Base hasn't gone through any large-scale battles, which is why a Psychic of this level thinks he's so tough."

Steven didn't know what Austin's Supernatural ability was.

But for Austin to be so ostentatious within Steven's Martial Prowess range was just asking for death.
