Chapter 406 The Invisible Enemy

Steven had just taken down 15 soldiers when suddenly, white snow mist began to swirl around the convoy.

Then, the falling snow covered the entire convoy, making it disappear from Steven's sight.

Steven paused his actions. "A Psychic with ice and snow abilities? Seems somewhat similar to Earl's powers."

A slight smile appeared on his lips as he continued to focus on his tactical goggles. "But how long can you keep this up? You came here to attack me—I know you're not just gonna stand still."

All he needed was for the opponent to show a tiny flaw, just that.

In the center of the convoy, Leonard activated his [Lord of Ice and Snow] ability, summoning a blizzard to temporarily protect the convoy.

But this was not a long-term solution, as they were still quite far from the Emerald Estate.

And with the surrounding snowfields, there was no suitable cover to be found.

Maintaining his Supernatural ability for a long time would deplete his reserves, affecting future battles.

"First priority—find that damn sniper! Why the hell can't we pin him down?" he snapped.

No one had a good answer.

This snowfield had zero sniper-friendly spots.

And based on where the bodies dropped, the shots came from up high.

But the only "up high" around here was the damn sky—not a single tree in sight!

Oliver said, "I think Steven's team must have a very powerful Psychic sniper!"

He pointed towards the shelter. "The shots are coming from that direction—so the sniper's gotta be holed up in there!"

Leonard's eyes narrowed. "But the shelter's over two miles out! He fired off a dozen shots in one go and still has juice left. Why waste it on grunts instead of taking out our key players?"

From this, Leonard and Oliver pieced together a chilling realization: this sniper was a serious threat.

Not only was his psychic ability off the charts, but his stamina was insane—enough to blow it on random soldiers like it was nothing.

In a split second, Leonard made the call. "Pull the convoy back, now! The rest of the team's not here yet—no point in wasting lives. Just get us the hell out of his range!"

Leonard's order was quickly relayed to every soldier.

Everyone immediately got back into the vehicles, and one by one, the cars began to retreat.

Leonard maintained the snow mist to obscure Steven's view.

But turning around several vehicles in the snow was bound to be a big move.

Some vehicles were inevitably exposed.

Steven figured they might try to bail, but he wasn't about to let them off that easy.

A bullet precisely hit the front wheel of a vehicle.

The tire deflated, and the attached tracks were heavily affected, causing the vehicle to tilt.

Steven calmly reloaded and fired again, hitting both the front and rear wheels of another vehicle, rendering it completely immobile.

The soldiers inside the vehicle began to panic.

"The car's broken down! What do we do?"

"Don't leave us behind, find a way to save us!"

"If we leave the snow mist, we'll become sitting ducks!"

They knew the attacker was a long-range Psychic, which filled them with immense fear.

This was even more terrifying than a sniper; at least a human sniper had many limitations and could be countered.

But in this situation, they had no chance to fight back and could only passively take hits. The sheer helplessness was enough to make their blood run cold!

One vehicle had nearly twenty soldiers; Leonard couldn't abandon them.

He had to order, "Slow down and transfer the soldiers from that vehicle!"

Silverlake Base also had powerful Psychics, but before the other forces arrived, Leonard couldn't allow his key Psychic assets to rush over and fight Steven in the shelter.

War was for profit, not for pride.

The convoy slowed down, and Leonard expanded the blizzard's coverage to prevent Steven from continuing to shoot.

At such a long distance, even infrared couldn't help.

But for Steven, hitting the target was best.

Missing wasn't a big deal either.

After all, as long as his bullets grazed the target, it was basically over for them.

The convoy moved through the snowstorm, adopting a tight formation to reduce wind resistance, with vehicles close together.

Although Steven's view was obscured, he could still estimate their general location.

With the power of his heavy sniper rifle, piercing through those flimsy armors and killing the soldiers inside wasn't difficult.

If he could hit the critical parts of the vehicles, he could stop them from functioning!

So Steven simply aimed at the area covered by the snowstorm and started blind shooting.

Precision shooting relied on the sniper rifle's performance, so it didn't consume much Supernatural ability.

With Steven's current reserves, this level of consumption was negligible.

Plus, he had Nora prepare plenty of Supernatural ability food in advance, allowing him to shoot without restraint!

With ample ammunition, even hitting one out of ten shots was valuable!

His goal was to weaken the enemy's forces as much as possible before the battle!

In the snowstorm, Silverlake Base was nervously transferring soldiers.

But the soldiers' ears were once again filled with the sharp whistling of bullets!

The sniper rifle's firing rate wasn't high, but the sharp sound conveyed its terrifying power!

A vehicle's rear door was hit, and the steel plate was pierced with a large hole!

A soldier inside had his thigh grazed, losing a large chunk of flesh!

"Damn it! Our armor is too weak; it can't stop this anti-material sniper rifle!" an old soldier shouted in frustration.

He had fought all his life and had never felt so helpless!

But they had to endure it, as they didn't have such powerful abilities.

Bullets continued to hit the vehicles, making terrifying sounds.

The soldiers inside didn't trust the vehicle's armor, lying down in fear to avoid the bullets.

But even so, some were still hit.

Those who were killed instantly were the lucky ones; the wounded suffered the most, their screams spreading fear throughout the Silverlake Base convoy!

That sniper was simply too terrifying!

They didn't yet know they were facing the most powerful sniper in all of Starlight City!

Leonard sat in the middle vehicle, listening to the screams outside, his face growing darker.

"Get out of here quickly! Speed up, and if there are wounded, leave them. They won't survive anyway!"

In the attic, after finishing two magazines, Steven switched to a new sniper rifle.

The high firing rate required the gun to cool down.

In the air, only the sound of the sniper rifle firing could be heard.

Steven was fully focused, not saying a word to his companions.

But at this moment, Earl, Henry, and Lily could all hear the gunfire through their shared channel.

The sound of the heavy sniper was unmistakable.

But they didn't even feel like they were on a battlefield.

It felt more like watching someone shoot targets at a range.

The steady, rhythmic gunfire took life after life.

Sometimes, killing was as simple as a game.
