Chapter 269 Battle Plan

Charles and Shawn were shooting the breeze when they spotted Earl hanging around nearby.

Charles, looking curious, pointed at Earl and asked, "Who's that guy?"

Shawn quickly jumped in, "Captain Reed, meet Earl Cox. He's a Psychic I found! This guy can control ice and snow. His potential is off the charts!"

Hearing that Earl was a Psychic, Charles and the others couldn't help but give him a once-over.

Lily recognized Earl right away; they had crossed paths at the Innovation Academy.

But Lily kept quiet about it.

She wasn't exactly on the West Mountain Base's side at the moment.

Earl swallowed hard, trying to look friendly, but his eyes gave away his nerves and fear.

His legs were even shaking because he was actually an undercover agent for Steven.

Charles and the others didn't miss this.

With their military backgrounds, they had no patience for cowards.

And Earl's shaky demeanor made him look like a total wimp, earning even more disdain from the soldiers.

Charles crossed his arms and asked, "So, what's your superpower? Controlling ice and snow?"

"Yeah! I built all these houses!" Earl pointed to the icy structures in Cox Village.

Charles had already noticed the ice and snow houses and had been curious. Now it made sense.

But this didn't make him think any better of Earl.

To him, a weak man was a no-go, especially for his team.

Charles thought, 'I'll take Earl back later and let Mr. Martin see if he's useful. But for this mission, we don't need him.'

Charles walked over and gave Earl a light pat on the shoulder with his right hand.

He meant it as a friendly gesture, but Charles's strength was too much for Earl.

Earl hit the ground, making everyone laugh.

Charles's eyes widened, thinking, 'How can a guy be this weak?'

Out of politeness, he extended a hand to help Earl up. "Sorry about that... You're a Psychic, right? Cool. After our mission, I'll report your situation to the base. Maybe then you can get a shot at joining us!"

Charles didn't pay much more attention to Earl. His main focus was on dealing with Steven.

So after a quick exchange, Charles led everyone to a combat meeting.

As for Gavin and the other leaders of Cox Town, they didn't even get a chance to talk to Charles.

A soldier just came over to tell them to prepare accommodations and food.

Gavin, not daring to complain, just smiled and did as he was told.

Over fifty special forces members, along with a dozen rescue team members, crowded into a room, buzzing as they started their combat meeting.

A professional engineer pulled out a computer and projected a 3D model of Emerald Estate 101.

Charles addressed everyone, "Our next target is to take down this fortified shelter!"

"According to our engineer's calculations, we can blow it up from this spot." He pointed to a corner at the back. "And to blow up this wall, we need 1,100 pounds of TNT. We've got 2,200 pounds this time, so we have two shots at it."

Charles spread his hands and said casually, "Even if we mess up both times, our base has a ton of explosives. We'll get it done; it's just a matter of how many tries."

Everyone's faces lit up with relaxed smiles.

West Mountain Base was strong and well-armed; taking down a shelter seemed like a piece of cake.

Lily, holding her broadsword, frowned slightly at this.

She was worried about Cindy and Aubrey's safety since the two students were inside Steven's shelter.

'Steven, can you survive this mess?' Lily wondered to herself.

But according to Charles, Peter's order was to capture Steven alive.

This meant they wouldn't blow up the shelter with explosives.

When the time came, she would step in to save her two students.

Charles continued, "Next, there's an unpredictable factor, and that's this Psychic named Steven!"

As he said this, he glanced at Shawn and Yosef. "Psychic abilities are all over the place. We need to understand his power to find his weak spots and take him down."

Charles went on, "From your reports, this guy's mainly a sharpshooter. But our intel shows Steven has no military background; he's just a regular warehouse manager. So, it must be some kind of Supernatural ability."

"Being a good shot isn't scary, but if he can lock onto targets with his power, that's a whole different story," he added.

Shawn quickly said, "Luckily, his attacks depend on his line of sight. We can mess with his vision to stop him from using it."

Charles nodded. "Exactly, that's easy to handle. When we attack, we'll throw a bunch of smoke and incendiary grenades to block his view. But he has another ability: he can ignore bullets and even reflect them."

Charles laughed. "That's pretty scary. It means long-range attacks might be useless against him. So for this mission, we won't engage him directly. We'll block his vision and sneak in to plant the explosives."

Charles confidently said, "I don't believe one person can have such all-around Supernatural abilities. If he's a long-range expert, he must suck at close combat. So, once we blow open the shelter and rush in, it won't take long to capture him!"

Everyone nodded, agreeing with the plan.

Charles was a nightmare in close combat. Anyone who dared to face him would be begging for mercy before they even knew what hit them.

The terrifying strength of Charles, the so-called military king and West Mountain Base's top fighter, was known to everyone present, except maybe Lily.

Shawn added, "This Steven is really sneaky. He's set up a bunch of traps around the shelter, which we need to watch out for. Last time, some of our guys got taken out by landmines he planted."

Charles just smiled faintly and said, "You guys haven't seen real combat; you lack experience. We'll just defuse the landmines and bombs he set up."

The demolition expert in the special forces looked at Shawn and Yosef. "Leave that to me! Some amateur bomb traps? Piece of cake."
