Chapter 438 Bronze Elite Zombie
Deep in the subway, a sudden rumble echoed all around, as if some terrifying monster was breaking free from its cage.
Steven and his group looked grim.
"Watch out! It's coming," Steven warned.
Earl swallowed hard, grabbed his flamethrower, and scanned the area cautiously.
Could the horde of zombies they just fought off be coming back?
"No worries!" Henry said. "No matter how many of those things come, we can take 'em all down."
They'd already seen what the zombie horde could do. Sure, they were stronger than regular folks, but still no match for these top-tier Psychics.
Plus, they were ready for anything. Weapons, ammo, supernatural food—they had it all to handle a big zombie horde.
But then, Fluffy let out a howl, full of warning. It was like it had sensed something terrifying.
Fluffy was a beast in combat, especially in its giant form, even stronger than Henry. If it was this alert, the enemy had to be extra dangerous.
Steven's eyes grew serious. He muttered, "Could it be the Zombie King?"
The Zombie King was a huge threat. No one had seen it, but anything that could control thousands, even tens of thousands of zombies, had to be a tough opponent!
No one knew how powerful it was or what abilities it had. They didn't even know if it was a mutated human or a super zombie!
The rumbling sound at the end of the corridor got closer. A dark shadow slowly appeared.
As soon as it showed up, it grabbed everyone's attention.
In the darkness, a tall, thin creature walked towards them. When Steven saw it, his pupils contracted sharply!
It wasn't human. It was a monster with a humanoid shape, covered in bronze-colored, hard skin, occasionally revealing some dark red muscles underneath.
In the dim light, it stood at least 10 feet tall, with long arms that reached the ground.
Its triangular head had huge ears and a mouth full of glowing fangs. Its fierce eyes had brown vertical pupils.
Terrifyingly, it had eight eyes on its body! Besides the ones on its head, there were six more on its arms and chest, constantly scanning the area.
Even in a post-apocalyptic world, they'd never seen such a terrifying monster. They couldn't tell if it was a mutated corpse or some special creature.
But from its muscles and size, it was clear it wasn't to be messed with!
Henry couldn't help but ask, "Is this the Zombie King?"
Before anyone could answer, three more identical monsters appeared from different directions. These four creatures looked like quadruplets, with only slight size differences but almost identical appearances!
"Were these mass-produced? There's no way they were naturally born!" Steven's heart raced. He realized there was a huge conspiracy behind this.
The zombie horde's birth wasn't a coincidence; there had to be some human factor involved!
And right behind these four monsters, the zombie horde reappeared. They gathered around the four giant zombies, their eyes fixed on the group.
They were surrounded by zombies on all sides, packed so tightly it was impossible to count them!
The pressure was intense, even for the battle-hardened group.
Earl's face turned pale with fear. "These zombies don't look like ordinary ones!"
Steven's eyebrows shot up. He said coldly, "I get it! These guys have been leading us here all along. Their goal is to surround and wipe us out!"
Even though they knew the Zombie King was smart, Steven hadn't expected it to use strategy!
Steven's estimation of the Zombie King rose even higher. A being that could control a large horde of zombies and had high intelligence would be a disaster for all of Starlight City, no, for all of humanity if left to grow!
"Steven, what do we do?" Henry asked.
Steven sneered, "What else can we do at this point? We fight."
Since they were in an open area, Steven's Double Dimension Door couldn't be used to its full potential. But even without it, they were all skilled fighters.
Henry and Earl raised their flamethrowers and sprayed the surrounding zombie horde. Lily drew her long sword; it was finally her time to shine.
Steven cautiously said, "Lily, Fluffy, stick close to me. Don't wander off. We're too few; we need to stay together."
Lily nodded, knowing Steven's close combat skills weren't the best and he needed protection.
Fluffy, of course, stayed close to Steven as always. In the shelter, Fluffy was always by Steven's side.
The four gigantic monsters were already closing in, step by step. Their skin looked like armor, glowing a dark yellow.
Seeing them, Steven couldn't help but think of a concept from a movie he had seen before. There was a particularly powerful type of zombie known as the Bronze Elite Zombie. Its body was as tough as steel, impervious to blades and bullets.
These special monsters might be mutated corpses or something else, but seeing them command other zombies, it was clear they were incredibly powerful!
"Let's take down these four big ones first!" Steven instructed the group. Taking them out would make dealing with the other zombies much easier.
"Got it!" everyone responded.
At that moment, the zombie horde began to move. The four Bronze Elite Zombies let out a chilling roar, causing the entire underground passage to tremble. The zombie horde behind them followed suit, raising their heads and letting out deafening roars!
The horde suddenly charged forward, launching a desperate assault on Steven and his group! Even the giant rats that had been lurking in the shadows began to move. These red-eyed giant rats seemed eager to devour Steven and his companions.
The zombie horde charged at Steven and his group with reckless abandon! They had no intelligence of their own; all their actions were directed by the Zombie King. At this moment, the Zombie King intended to use their bodies to create trouble for Steven and his group.
The real threat, however, was still those four massive Bronze Elite Zombies!
But Steven and his group had no other options. They had been lured into this open area by the Zombie King's strategy, rendering Steven's Double Dimension Door less effective. Now, all the surrounding passages were blocked, leaving them no choice but to fight to the death here.
Since the apocalypse began, this was the first time Steven found himself in such a dire situation, with no escape route. Yet, there was no trace of fear in his eyes.
He had faced tougher situations before and had always managed to turn the tide.
The zombie horde was now upon them!
The sheer number of zombies, along with the giant rats scurrying at their feet, was enough to make anyone anxious.
Henry and Earl's faces were tense. They were extremely nervous, but their flamethrowers spewed out torrents of fire, burning the zombies and giant rats.
But this time, the zombie horde didn't retreat; they charged forward like moths to a flame. Even if they died, they would die charging at Steven and his group! That was the command given to them by the Zombie King!
Just as Steven had thought, the zombies felt no fear or dread of death. The reason they had retreated earlier was because the Zombie King had commanded them to.
But now, the Zombie King needed them to create chaos, break Steven's formation, and give the Bronze Elite Zombies an opportunity.
However, everyone present was a top-tier Psychic. They wouldn't just sit and wait for death.
In the darkness, Lily's sword danced like moonlight. After absorbing Valentin's Supernatural ability, her strength had greatly increased.
The cold blade emitted a blue glow, extending over 10 feet! The blade's light wove a net in the air, slicing the zombies into pieces, leaving them in shattered fragments.
Henry and Earl's flamethrowers also held the zombies at bay.
Fluffy and Steven, for the moment, didn't make any major moves. Although Fluffy was a formidable fighter, it needed to protect Steven.
Steven didn't rush to attack because his abilities were mainly defensive, making it difficult to be effective in this situation. His offensive options, aside from Martial Prowess, were limited to his shotgun and explosives.
So he picked up his shotgun and aimed at the zombies' legs, firing relentlessly. The shotgun shells, enhanced by Supernatural ability, shattered the zombies' legs, hindering their movement. While it couldn't kill them effectively, it could immobilize them, preventing them from getting close. As for the giant rats, they were blasted into pieces!
Neither the zombies nor the giant rats could pose a real threat to the powerful Psychics like Steven and his group. So, before long, the four formidable Bronze Elite Zombies joined the fray.
One of the Bronze Elite Zombies grabbed two nearby zombies and hurled them at Steven and his group!
