Chapter 446 Beating the Fallen Zombie
Lily stopped arguing. She knew Steven had a point. With their abilities, just keeping their own group safe was already a challenge. Steven wasn't the type to worry about others.
The group sealed off all the exits of the subway tunnel. Then Steven headed to the entrance of Floral Springs Subway Station. He opened the Dimension Door and let a massive amount of seawater pour down the subway entrance.
The water gushed out, surging forward through the narrow tunnel. At this rate, it would only take three hours to flood the entire tunnel.
The rats inside might sense the danger and try to flee, but most of them would drown or freeze to death.
As for the dormant zombies, unless they encountered living humans or got orders from the Zombie King, they wouldn't wake up no matter what.
Steven's job was to wipe out most of the zombies and rats. Even if a few escaped, as long as their numbers were small, they wouldn't be a threat to Steven and his group.
In the subway tunnel, the floodwaters kept rushing through, getting stronger and stronger, like a river in flood season.
The water gradually submerged the rats hiding in the crevices and the zombies lying dormant in the damp, muddy depths.
The giant rats squealed in terror and ran towards areas not yet covered by the flood. But they couldn't outrun it.
Soon, a large number of rats were submerged. A few managed to escape, crawling out along the tunnel entrance. But without their habitat, they wouldn't survive long on the surface.
They needed to find a new environment, but in this post-apocalyptic world, that was nearly impossible.
Those Rats and zombies actually had a symbiotic relationship. Rats provided combat power for the zombie horde, and the Zombie King was essentially raising these rats.
The rats fed on some of the zombies, which allowed them to grow so large. Without these corpses, they couldn't survive.
So, once forced out of the subway tunnel, they would quickly lose their habitat and perish. Even if a few giant rats survived, they couldn't reproduce on a large scale.
In short, they wouldn't be a threat to Steven's shelter in the short term.
Deep in the subway, the zombies seemed to be guided by something and began to wake up. But even with their superior physical abilities, they couldn't maintain their balance in the floodwaters.
They were quickly swept away, like broken logs drifting with the current. The floodwaters grew stronger, gradually submerging the entire tunnel.
Then Steven began to open the coagulating agent Aubrey had made for him.
He opened them up and poured out a clear liquid. As soon as the coagulating agent mixed with the seawater, the water started to freeze right before their eyes. The ice spread quickly, reaching deep into the water. The struggling zombies and giant rats were soon frozen solid.
Half a day flew by, and the entire Floral Springs Line was now completely frozen. Steven clapped his hands together. "Well, that's one problem solved."
It didn't matter if some zombies and giant rats, the Zombie King, or some Bronze Elite Zombies survived.
The real threat from the zombies and rats came from their overwhelming numbers. As long as most of them were taken out, Steven and his group could handle the rest, even if they were all elites.
"We should have some peace for a while now. Let the other groups worry about the zombie and rat hordes!" Steven said with a grin to the group.
Henry, Lily, and Earl exchanged relieved smiles. Steven had solved this huge problem in such a straightforward way. They couldn't help but be impressed.
"Spatial Supernatural ability is truly amazing!" Henry said.
"With Steven's spatial ability, no one in all of Starlight City can rival him!" Earl added.
Steven had some realizations too. His spatial ability seemed mostly auxiliary in combat, but its convenience was unmatched. And as he developed more skills, it became even more powerful.
Steven shook his head. He wasn't the competitive type and didn't care about whose ability was stronger. He just wanted to protect himself and, if possible, those around him.
Lily asked, "So, what's next?"
Steven smirked. "What else? We clean up the remaining enemies!"
He was always cautious, never leaving any chance for the enemy. Although the entire subway tunnel was frozen, some zombies and giant rats had definitely escaped. And those that did were likely the more resilient ones.
"Whether zombies or rats, they still pose a threat to us. The more we kill, the better!" Steven pulled out a shotgun.
He raised it and said to the group, "Let's go! We'll kill as many as we can, do one last cleanup, and then call it a day!"
No one had any objections. This time, it was mainly Steven doing the heavy lifting while they watched. So now they were full of energy and ready to go.
After watching Steven take down so many zombies and giant rats, they were eager to get in on the action themselves.
They hopped on the snowmobile and went along the entire Floral Springs Line again. Around the subway entrance, they found many dying giant rats and zombies lying motionless on the ground. They smashed these creatures to pieces.
