Chapter 513 Zombie Riot!
When Steven dropped the name "Otha Soderberg," Lily, Henry, and Earl all nodded in agreement.
They knew firsthand just how powerful Otha was. His ability was so insanely strong that it could wipe out everything in its path in an instant.
If it weren't for the nasty side effects, Otha's power would definitely be rated LV5.
But for Steven, as long as Otha's power could mess up Natasha's plans, that was good enough.
That night, while Steven and the crew were busy fighting off the zombie horde, Otha and his seven-member team snuck underground and took out six Zombie Kings.
There were tons of zombies guarding those Zombie Kings, but Otha and his team still managed to pull off the mission. This showed they had what it took to handle a massive number of zombies.
Of course, it probably came at a huge cost, like shaving off more of Otha's already short lifespan. Steven knew what he was doing wasn't exactly right. But to make sure he and his people could survive, he had to sacrifice some folks who weren't part of his circle.
If he felt a twinge of guilt, it was because Otha had once invited him to join Blizzard City and had been pretty nice about it. But...
'I don't have a choice,' Steven muttered to himself. 'If only one side can make it, I'm choosing me and my people.'
Then, Steven laid out the plan for everyone. "I'm telling you all this so you're mentally prepared. If things go south and the seven-member team fails, we have to bail from Starlight City. My extradimensional space is stocked up, so we'll be fine wherever we go. The only bummer is losing this top-notch shelter."
"So, non-combat folks, don't take off your clothes when you sleep. Be ready to move at any moment! Combat folks, your job is simple. Be ready to fight and follow my orders!"
No one had any objections. Lily, though, asked curiously, "Are our enemies zombies or the Snowfall Cult?"
Steven took a deep breath, looked at her, and said, "Maybe both."
He had a smile on his face, but no one else could muster one after hearing that. They were up against hundreds of thousands of zombies and a super powerful Psychic. It was a total nightmare!
Steven took another deep breath. "I wish I could say something to comfort you, but this is the situation, and we have to accept it. The worst-case scenario is we all leave Starlight City. If Otha fails, even if Natasha doesn't lead the zombie horde to kill us, the Silvercrest District won't show any mercy."
Steven pointed to the sky. "The Grim Reaper's Sigh will wipe out the entire Starlight City in an instant!"
Everyone's faces were a mix of crying and laughing, but mostly bitter smiles. If that really happened, they wouldn't stand a chance.
Steven leaned back on the sofa, eyes fixed on the chandelier. He said calmly, "That's it. Whatever happens, happens. I've planned everything, but whether it all goes smoothly depends on luck."
Steven knew the score. He and Cindy had made plans to deal with the zombie horde and the Snowfall Cult, but... This world was full of surprises.
So, Steven had set up a backup plan for everyone. If things went south, they had to get out of Starlight City immediately!
As for Natasha and her crew, their main beef wasn't with Steven. They had bigger fish to fry with the major factions. After the apocalypse, those grudges ran deep, and Natasha would go after them first.
"Alright, everyone, get ready!" Steven told the group.
All they could do now was pray. And Steven actually clasped his hands together and prayed to the heavens.
Then, he pulled out the satellite phone and activated the mechanical mouse.
Over in the Amber District, in the subway tunnel, Otha and his team had arrived. As usual, they had Eris use her [Aerial view] ability to scout the area below, and then the rest of the team followed to check things out.
They weren't scared of zombies, but the mastermind behind the horde had them worried. First, they needed to confirm if Steven's intel was legit.
The group moved deeper into the tunnel, using Eris's ability to scout the surroundings as they advanced. Steven had given them the exact location of the zombies, and they found it quickly.
Eris's ability had a range of 1.2 miles. Just 1.2 miles away from the sleeping zombie horde, she "saw" everything.
In the depths of the subway tunnel, zombies were packed tightly in the muddy, damp environment, making her expression turn serious.
"What's the situation, Eris?" Otha asked, noticing her grave look.
Eris took a deep breath and told her teammates, "There are definitely zombies here! And there are a ton of them, at least hundreds of thousands!"
Hearing that, everyone frowned. But they weren't too scared. They had plenty of experience dealing with zombies. Sleeping zombies wouldn't wake up unless a Zombie King controlled them or they caught the scent of living humans.
Otha adjusted his sunglasses. "Alright, let's take them out!"
Otha decided they should retreat from the subway first, then call for backup from the Silvercrest District and use missiles to hit the coordinates directly.
With just their team and the remaining forces in Starlight City, clearing out such a massive horde was impossible. They needed reinforcements.
Everyone nodded, but just as they were about to leave, they heard a series of low roars from the end of the tunnel. It sounded like a flood rushing towards them, even making the ground tremble.
Theron shouted, "They're awake!"
The seven of them turned pale. They had been careful not to get too close to the horde's location, but they had still been discovered.
Now they had no choice but to retreat quickly!
"Run, get to the surface!" Otha commanded, and everyone started running back fast.
Behind them, the zombie horde surged like a torrent. Their eyes glowed with a bloodthirsty red light.
Among the massive horde were huge Bronze Elite Zombies, and even Bronze Flying Elite Zombies with wings soared into the air, flying over the top of the torrent.
