Chapter 395 Forming Alliances

"Stop! Don't come any closer!" Following Steven's orders, Earl shouted to stop Jordan from approaching.

Jordan smiled slightly and bowed politely, saying, "Hello, sir! I see a strong aura around you. You must be a powerful Psychic!"

Earl couldn't help but feel a flicker of pride. In the shelter, he was usually the underdog, and this was the first time anyone had acknowledged his strength.

But the grin didn't last long. Steven's orders came through his earpiece. "So," Earl said, his tone shifting, "who are you, and what brings you here?"

Jordan maintained his humble posture, like an ordinary hunched old man.

"I am Jordan from the Snowfall Cult. My master sent me to meet Mr. Rogers." He gave a slight smile. "You're not him, are you?"

As he spoke, his gaze cut through space, locking onto Steven inside the shelter.

That aura—bright as the sun, intense enough to make him shudder—was impossible to miss.

Steven frowned slightly.

Here to find him?

Henry chimed in, "This guy seems to have an ability for spotting talent. He tried to recruit me once, but I turned him down. Still, he's the one who helped Chase Gray unlock his powers."

Steven nodded. "That's a killer ability, especially paired with their leader Natasha's 'Blessing.'"

He told Earl, "Ask him what he wants to do by seeing me."

Earl then looked at Jordan and said, "Our Captain is not someone you can see just because you want to! Whatever you have to say, say it here. He can hear our conversation."

Jordan was a bit surprised.

He didn't expect Steven to be so cautious, not even giving him a chance to meet.

In fact, he was not a combat-oriented Psychic and posed no threat even in front of Steven.

However, he appreciated Steven's approach.

In the apocalypse, caution is always the first rule of survival.

Jordan spoke up, "I'm here on orders from our leader Natasha to deliver a message to Mr. Rogers. In three days, Emberwick, Silverlake, and Frostwood are teaming up to hit your shelter."

Steven was not surprised by this news.

What did catch his attention was the agreed-upon attack time.

That explained why both Sebastian and the Snowfall Cult had reached out to him today.

They were running out of time to hash things out.

If talks with Steven fell through, they'd have to scramble overnight to team up with Emberwick and Silverlake for the assault.

Jordan suddenly stood up straight, opened his arms excitedly, and exclaimed, "Those heartless, shameless bastards dare to plot against such a stunning home! They even tried to rope Natasha into their attack. But we, the Snowfall Cult, serve the divine, spreading love and peace. So, we're dead set against their sick plan!"

He locked eyes with the shelter, intense and serious. "That's why we're here—to team up with Mr. Rogers!"

After hearing Jordan's words, Steven laughed. "Just as we thought!"

The four major forces in Starlight City were also scheming against each other; there was no unity or cooperation.

As long as the benefits were sufficient, they could betray each other at any time.

Whether it was Frostwood Base or Snowfall Cult, they were all in it for their own interests.

Now it was a matter of who could offer them more benefits, and they would help that side.

Steven felt more confident.

The more divided they were, the greater his chances of winning the upcoming battle.

He gave Earl instructions, and Earl asked, "Do you mean to say that you can withdraw from this action and not join the attack against us?"

Unexpectedly, Jordan shook his head.

"If that's the case, how's that called cooperation?"

"The Snowfall Cult's all about love and peace, and we're hell-bent on taking down evil. That's why our leader Natasha wants to team up with you to take on the others!"

Steven's eyes narrowed.

The Snowfall Cult had quite the ambition!

They wanted to join forces with him to strike against the other forces.

However, he had heard from Cindy that the Snowfall Cult had always been at odds with the other forces, with constant conflicts.

If they had the chance to strike against the other forces, they wouldn't miss it.

But why did they think that by cooperating with him, they could deal with the other three forces?

They didn't know that Sebastian from Frostwood Base had already discussed cooperation with Steven.

So Steven said somewhat skeptically, "Ask him why he chose to cooperate with someone weaker like me."

Earl conveyed Steven's words to Jordan verbatim.

Jordan said, "It's divine guidance! I see love and peace in you…"

Earl cut him off, "Cut the crap. Get to the point."

Jordan was stunned for a moment, then smiled, "Got it. The truth is, the Snowfall Cult and Mr. Rogers' crew are both outsiders. Starlight City used to be run by four major bases—all backed by big players. When the apocalypse hit, they had the best gear, the cushiest setups, and the top talent. They thought they owned this city. But then, the Snowfall Cult rose up, and Mr. Rogers' crew shook the status quo. They felt threatened. They can't stand new players, especially ones like us with no backing."

He took a deep breath, his voice passionate. "It's made them scared and jealous. Take Mr. Rogers' crew—haven't you been pushed around by West Mountain Base? Same for us. We've been squeezed by them, barely hanging on. So, in that sense, we're the same kind of people! We should band together to fight their dominance!"

Jordan were full of passion.

Steven, though, wasn't buying it.

So, the Snowfall Cult's been getting stomped and now they want payback. Talking about a community of interests! Steven was not buddying up with their cult hustlers.

From the jump, Steven couldn't care less about power grabs or turf wars.

All he wanted was to ride out the apocalypse in peace.

'Still,' he thought, 'if we're both gunning for Emberwick Base and Silverlake Base, maybe there's room to work together.'
