Chapter 316 Escape

The missile nailed West Mountain Base, shaking the ground like crazy.

The soldiers outside freaked out, fumbling for their radios to call the command center.

But Cindy had already cut the power, throwing everything into chaos, and they couldn't get through to anyone.

Just then, a snowmobile zoomed up, and three figures jumped out as it skidded to a stop at the base entrance.

"Take 'em down!"

Steven's eyes blazed with fury as he raised his gun and started shooting!

In less than thirty seconds, all the guards at the entrance were down.

Even elite soldiers were no match for a Psychic.

Ahead of them loomed the gate to West Mountain Base.

"Alright, Lily, it's your turn!" Steven said seriously.

Over at The Fourth Life Warehouse...

After the missile hit, the whole place shook violently.

The students hiding in the corner screamed and huddled together, heads down.

That's when Lily got what Steven meant by "changes."

Luckily, the underground shelter was built tough. Despite the intense shaking, it held up without collapsing.

Lily and her students were ready and unharmed, but others in The Fourth Life Warehouse weren't so lucky.

Some folks who were already in bed got thrown to the floor, their beds crashing down on them, causing serious injuries.

Others working late on bikes were also tossed to the ground, screaming with nowhere to hide.

Cries and desperate shouts filled the air.

Suddenly, the lights went out.

Lily grabbed a female student without a second thought. "Move! Follow me, we gotta get out of here! Now!"

There was no time to explain; they had to move fast!

Once West Mountain Base got the power back and restored order, their window to escape would slam shut!

Lily used her phone as a flashlight, pulling a student along as she led the way.

The students behind her held hands, sticking close. In the darkness, chaotic figures were everywhere, but they kept their eyes on that beam of light.

Lily reached the gate and, with all her might, pushed open the heavy dark green iron door.

It was a mess inside, and not much better outside.

The Third Life Warehouse had a bunch of soldiers, but not all of them were well-trained.

The sudden chaos left them unsure of what to do, waiting for orders.

Lily and her students bolted out, and seeing this, many others also scrambled to escape.

They all thought it was an earthquake or an attack and figured running was their only shot at survival.

The chaos hit so fast that the soldiers were left stunned.

They held their guns, shouting at everyone to get back.

"Everyone, back inside! No one leaves, or I'll shoot!"

"Get back, all of you! No one gets out!"

A dozen soldiers with rifles were yelling their heads off.

But their shouts were drowned out by the panicked screams from the whole base.

Plus, the Third Life Warehouse was in chaos too. Despite their threats, the soldiers didn't dare to shoot wildly.

It was pitch dark, and firing could easily lead to friendly fire, injuring their own people.

Even worse, if they really pissed off the thousands in The Fourth Life Warehouse, they could get trampled if the crowd surged forward!

Seeing the mess outside, Lily thought, 'This is our shot!'

Lily had memorized the way out of West Mountain Base, so she led her students through the chaos.

These students were ready, holding hands and sticking close to Lily, unlike the others who were running around like headless chickens.

Soon, Lily and her group made it out of The Fourth Life Warehouse, heading through the underground passage.

Before long, they heard rapid gunfire and agonized screams.

Everyone felt a chill; they knew the soldiers had started shooting!

In this chaos, who knew how many would die!

But they couldn't worry about that now. Just getting out of West Mountain Base was a huge win.

Lily whispered, "Keep moving, don't look back, just keep going!"

She held her phone up to light the way, gripping a knife handle tightly with her other hand.

A dozen students followed closely behind her, not daring to stray.

There was still some distance to the exit, and they had to pass through several tunnels. They needed to hurry.

Lily knew that for a heavily armed place like West Mountain Base, this chaos could be squashed quickly.

She gripped the knife handle tightly, ready for anything.

As they rounded a corner, two armed soldiers suddenly appeared ahead.

In the dim light, they had already placed yellow glow sticks on the wall for illumination.

Seeing Lily leading a group of students, the two soldiers immediately raised their guns. "No one passes without orders, go back!"

A blue, smoky aura erupted from Lily's right hand. She unleashed her supernatural ability without a word.

Blades flashed, and the soldiers only saw blue light flicker twice before feeling a chill on their necks.

Their guns were sliced in half, along with their throats.

Blood spurted like a fountain, and the two clutched their necks, collapsing in despair.

"Move quickly!" Lily urged her students to keep moving.

The appearance of these soldiers meant the higher-ups at West Mountain Base were starting to get things under control.

If they didn't leave now, more soldiers would show up.

If they ran into the special forces, Lily wasn't sure she could get her students out safely.

A group of them ran forward, gasping for breath.

There was still a staircase over 330 feet long to climb from the base to the surface.

Even those in good shape would be wiped out by the time they reached the top, but they had no other choice.

There was an elevator for the special forces and high-ranking officials, but Peter controlled its access.

Lily led her students toward the hopeful passage.

Suddenly, a bright light appeared ahead.

The students' faces lit up with joy. "It's the exit, we've reached the exit!"

Lily abruptly stopped and held out her hand to stop the students behind her. "Stop!"

The light above flickered a few times before settling on Lily's face.

Lily raised her hand slightly to shield her eyes, and then she heard the familiar sound of high heels.

"Ms. Evans, it seems all my warnings to you were in vain!" Lisa said coldly.

At that moment, everyone realized that what lay ahead was not the exit but over thirty fully armed, stern-faced special forces soldiers!

"Mr. Martin is wise; he knew someone would try to escape in the chaos. Do you think you're the first to try to escape? You won't be the first, nor the last. But your fate will be the same."

Lisa adjusted her glasses, a mocking smile on her lips. "You will become food!"

Hearing the word "food," the students' faces turned pale.

'Using people as food?'

Could it be that what they had eaten before also contained...

Some began to vomit, but nausea was not the main issue now; the important thing was how they could get out alive.

But with such a formation blocking their way, how could they escape?

They were so close to the exit, yet their hope was brutally shattered. The feeling was excruciating.

Lisa stood with her arms crossed, looking down at them with cold arrogance.

Behind her, thirty fully armed soldiers aimed their real guns at the students.

The path to survival was completely blocked. Lily felt a chill in her heart, almost falling into despair.

Although Lily could break through alone without any problem, it was clearly unrealistic to escape with these dozen students.

If a conflict broke out, the dense firepower would tear her students apart!

Lisa looked at Lily coldly. "Why risk your life for these useless test subjects? West Mountain Base does not tolerate betrayal!"

Lily suddenly reached out to Lisa, "Wait! Maybe we can still talk!"

But Lisa said coldly, "There's nothing to talk about! Even if you are a Psychic with unlimited potential, a traitor is still a traitor. Your only fate is death!"

Lisa slowly raised her right hand, about to make a cutting gesture.

But at that moment, a soldier suddenly fell forward.

Lisa's eyes widened as she saw a small hole in the soldier's helmet.

This standard-issue bulletproof helmet could take ordinary handgun and rifle shots but was no match for a sniper rifle.

Behind them, the gate of West Mountain Base swung open.

Steven and his crew appeared, sniper rifles in hand, picking off targets one by one!

Lisa panicked, screaming as she dodged to the side and ordered the soldiers to return fire.

In an instant, a barrage of gunfire filled the narrow passage.

Lily quickly told her students to hit the deck and take cover against the wall.

She herself drew her broadsword and charged at the soldiers for some up-close combat.

Lily knew Steven and his team had come to back them up.

With their support, Lily's confidence soared, and a fierce battle erupted in the narrow passage among the three forces.

The soldiers of West Mountain Base, caught between two fronts and facing top-tier Psychics, couldn't fully utilize their strength.

Whether in close combat or at a distance, they were completely outmatched.

With Steven's Dimension Door open, they were sitting ducks.

In close combat, they couldn't withstand Lily's sharp broadsword.

Blood rained down, and after a few dozen seconds of fighting, the narrow passage was filled with severed limbs, and thick blood flowed down the stairs like a stream.

Lily looked up and met Steven's gaze.

For the first time, her eyes were filled with gratitude.

"Thanks for the backup!" Lily said sincerely.

"Don't mention it, you earned it!" Steven replied.

If it weren't for Lily acting as an inside agent at West Mountain Base, Steven wouldn't have had the chance to launch a surprise attack on the base. So he owed her this favor.

"Quick, get them out! The longer we stay, the more things can go wrong," Steven said to Lily.

Lily nodded and quickly called her terrified students over.

As they moved forward, she saw Lisa curled up in a corner.

The once high-and-mighty secretary, Lisa, now wished she could disappear.

But the basic principles of physics didn't support Lisa's attempt.

Lily stared at Lisa, saying, "Lisa, you're the one who led my students to hell, aren't you?"

Lisa's face was filled with fear. This once beautiful and proud woman was now so scared of death that she wet herself.

"No, I'm just a secretary. It was all Mr. Martin's orders," Lisa replied.

Nathan walked over, looking at Lisa with intense hatred.

The human experimentation he had undergone made him feel like he had crawled out of hell, the pain making him wish for death countless times.

So, facing Lisa's pleas, Nathan said nothing and pulled out a knife, stabbing it into Lisa's throat and then slicing it open.

Blood gushed out, and Lisa clutched her throat, struggling on the ground before going still.
