Chapter 450 The Gathering
After hearing Steven's explanation, Earl finally felt a bit more at ease.
"That would be the best. I just think everyone is doing pretty well right now, and I'm scared of any changes."
People who are comfortable always fear anything that might shake things up.
Steven got that too.
But he didn't think it was a bad thing for folks from Silvercrest District to come down.
With all the zombies and rat swarms popping up in Starlight City, there was no way Steven could handle it all by himself.
He knew the other factions were struggling to deal with it on their own too.
If things kept going like this, it was only gonna get worse.
If the people from the district could step in and help, life in Starlight City would get a whole lot better.
At the very least, Steven wouldn't have to worry about zombies attacking their shelter after taking out other factions.
From this angle, Steven was pretty hopeful about the district folks showing up.
And aside from Earl, the worrywart, most people felt the same.
Henry, a former soldier, crossed his arms and said confidently, "I think we should trust them!"
"As lead of Silvercrest District, they definitely wouldn't want to see a big zombie mess in a crowded city like Starlight City."
Lily nodded in agreement. "I think so too."
When facing a zombie siege, everyone hoped for some higher-level help to solve the immediate problems.
Even though the shelter hadn't been hit too hard yet, living in a city like this, no one could guarantee what the future held.
If the zombie problem could be completely fixed, that would be the best outcome.
Steven nodded and said, "Alright, since we've got the message, we have to go check it out no matter what."
He then looked at Cindy. "Cindy, you're in charge of monitoring the network."
"Even though we're pretty sure this email came from the Silvercrest District folks, we still need to be careful and avoid any traps set by others."
The chances were low, but not impossible.
Out of caution, Steven gave Cindy clear instructions.
Cindy pouted. As a world-class hacker, no one could completely fool her!
But she still answered obediently, "Alright. I'll definitely keep the shelter's network safe!"
Steven looked at Cindy's playful expression, smiled indulgently, and ruffled her cute head.
"Alright, everyone have a good meal at noon, and then we'll head to SC Central Building in the afternoon."
"Remember, be super cautious and always be ready for combat! You never know what might pop up."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
After spending so much time together, they had come to trust Steven's leadership.
Maybe he wasn't the smartest one in the group, but from a rational perspective, Steven was definitely the calmest and most stable person.
Following his plan, there was little room for error.
This cautious and steady personality was a crucial survival skill in the apocalypse.
Of course, Steven's group wasn't the only one to get this email.
At the same time, all the major factions in Starlight City got emails from the Silvercrest District investigation team.
To them, this email was basically a lifeline.
They had been tormented by zombies and rat swarms for too long.
Frostwood Base had to go underground, not daring to face the zombie and rat swarms head-on.
Emberwick Base took heavy losses and burned through a ton of oil just to keep things from falling apart.
Silverlake Base even retreated to the sea, leaving their port behind.
That port still had a lot of stored goods, which were crucial resources. Leaving it behind made Leonard really upset.
As for Snowfall Cult, their situation was beyond miserable.
The Snowfall Cult camp, except for the Church of the Holy Ground, had turned into a nightmare.
Zombies and rats were slaughtering the living, while the living were desperately killing rats for protein.
After a week of fighting, Snowfall Cult's numbers were cut in half.
So, when the leaders of each faction got the email from the Silvercrest District folks, they were pumped.
Some might think it was a trap, but in their current situation, even if it was a trap, they had to check it out.
So, each faction, without any prior agreement, brought their people to SC Central Building to meet the legendary envoys from Silvercrest District.
Maybe this was their best and last shot at getting rid of the zombies and rat swarms.
Starlight City, Seldwa District, SC Central Building.
The vehicles of the Silvercrest District investigation team pulled up.
The once grand SC Central Building was now mostly buried in snow and ice, even the exposed part was also covered with thick snow.
If it weren't for precise positioning, it would've been hard to find this place.
Otha and the others got out of the car, and their specially designed snow vehicle stopped outside the building.
Looking at the SC Central Building almost buried in snow, Deputy Captain Theron scratched his thick neck. "Wow, I didn't expect it to look like this! This is a mess, not like a meeting space at all. "
At that moment, Lanny stepped out with a relaxed smile. "No worries, I'll clean it up!"
He then opened his right hand towards the distant SC Central Building.
A white ball of light slowly appeared in his palm and then shot forward!
Wherever the white ball of light passed, huge piles of snow were blown away!
In an instant, all the snow in front of them was cleared, revealing a circular passage.
After doing all this, Lanny smiled and made a "please" gesture to Otha.
"Otha, after you!"
Otha's face remained expressionless, with his hands in the pockets of his black coat, leading the way towards SC Central Building.
Theron followed closely, and the others fell in line.
From the order of their steps, you could tell their status in the team.
First was Captain Otha, followed by Deputy Captain Theron.
Third in line was Lanny.
Then came virus experts Eris and Leandro walking side by side.
Finally, top special forces soldier and sharpshooter Leandro and mixed martial arts expert Daron Bales.
In the investigation team, any one of them was top-tier combat power for any major faction!
Especially the two captains and Lanny, their abilities were at least on par with or above the level of base leaders.
After arriving at SC Central Building, they quickly cleared the internal snow and found a relatively intact conference hall.
Otha sat on a soft black sofa, quietly waiting for the representatives of the major factions to arrive.
As for the rest of the team, although they still had relaxed expressions, they habitually moved to various corners of SC Central Building, keeping an eye on everything around them.
