Chapter 321 I'll Take You On One-on-One!
Steven spoke while taking out a detonator with his right hand and pressing it forcefully several times.
Seeing this, Charles immediately felt a wave of unease rising from within, as if something bad was about to happen!
"What is that thing?" Charles asked.
Steven didn't answer Charles and continued pressing.
A few seconds later, a muffled explosion sounded behind Charles, shaking the snow-covered earth, leaving jagged cracks in its wake.
Everyone struggled to stand firm, barely avoiding falling into the deep crevices.
Charles and the others had their backs to the entrance of the passage. Just as they steadied themselves, they suddenly felt a warm current behind them.
Even in the bone-chilling outdoor temperature of -60°F, their backs were instantly warmed. But that warmth quickly turned into a blistering inferno as a fiery serpent of flame erupted from the passage entrance.
All of Charles and his group's attention was on Steven and his men, completely unprepared for this.
In an instant, everyone was blown away by the scorching heatwave.
Charles, Shane, and Aiden were relatively fine; their Supernatural abilities enhanced their physiques, so they weren't too badly hurt by the impact.
But the others got hit hard. Their bodies were reeling, and Evelyn, the weakest of the bunch, even coughed up blood.
Steven, Earl, and Henry exchanged glances and smiled in relief.
The heavy bomb had successfully detonated!
With a yield of 2200 pounds, the entire second Life Warehouse would be destroyed!
Even if the structures couldn't be completely demolished, the explosion would be enough to wreck all the systematic equipment there.
Moreover, the high temperature and oxygen depletion caused by the explosion would quickly kill everyone inside.
West Mountain Base could completely disappear from Starlight City starting today!
Lily took a deep breath. With West Mountain Base destroyed, she felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.
But thinking about the thousands of people who would die in this explosion, she found it hard to be happy.
Among those people were students she had personally hidden in a cabinet.
But as always, she had no choice.
In this world, things rarely went the way she wanted. Just getting the best possible outcome was already a struggle.
Then, Lily looked at Charles and the others in front of her, her gaze becoming sharp.
With West Mountain Base destroyed and her students escaped, she now only needed to deal with this troublesome group of enemies to survive.
Without any ties holding her back, the killing intent in Lily's eyes became pure.
At this moment, Charles and his group felt the terrifying tremors beneath their feet and finally realized what had happened.
Charles stared at Steven, pointing at him and asking, "Steven, what have you done!?"
Steven slightly curled his lips, sincerely praised, "Remember when you hit my shelter and left that bundle of explosives? Well, I added a few extras and sent it all back to you. Turns out they are top-notch!"
If it weren't for Charles' gift, it would have been quite troublesome for Steven to search for chemical materials and make such a large amount of explosives on his own.
Charles glanced back at the scorched passage, feeling a chill in his heart.
Had their base truly been obliterated just like that? And with the very explosives—ironically—were their own!
Charles had the urge to go back and save people, but rationality made him forcibly control his legs.
The area below had just experienced an explosion, filled with toxic gases, and almost all the oxygen was depleted.
Going down now would be suicide.
Charles turned his head, his eyes almost bleeding. "Fine, I'll kill you first, then go save them!"
"Wait!" Steven suddenly raised his hand to stop Charles and the others from rushing over.
The atmosphere on the scene was extremely tense, and everyone was ready for a fight.
Actually, with Lily joining, Steven's team wasn't exactly outgunned—his squad was packed with heavy hitters.
But Charles's side? Not so much. Evelyn was reeling from some kind of illusion backlash, and Mason's powers were practically useless in the snow.
Steven spoke up. "Charles, if we throw down, who knows who's walking out alive? You really want everyone dead here? And chill with the revenge talk—your crew barged into my turf first. Don't act all high and mighty!"
Charles remarked icily, "What's the point of talking now? Only one of us is walking out of here. You kill me, or I kill you. Simple as that!"
Steven just laughed. "So, your goal is just to kill me, right?"
Charles didn't know what Steven meant by this sudden statement, but he didn't want to give Steven a chance to stall.
"That's right, today you must die here! No more talking!" Charles was about to rush over to fight.
"If your goal is just my life, then I think there's no need to gamble our friends' lives!" Steven shouted, "Charles, let's settle our grudge one-on-one. Do you dare?"
Everyone on the scene was surprised by these words.
Lily looked at Steven in disbelief and whispered, "Are you crazy? Do you know how strong he is?"
Steven ignored Lily and stared at Charles, saying, "If we all fight, even if you win, you'll suffer heavy casualties! Let's just fight one-on-one. After all, the person you want to kill is only me! If I win, let us go and don't pursue past grudges. If I lose, you can do whatever you want with me!"
Steven spread his hands. "Although I know you definitely won't let me live."
Earl and Henry looked at Steven, recalling what he had once told them.
"These guys are pros with Supernatural abilities—they're no joke in a fight. As a team, we're outmatched. So, if we're cornered and have no other options, I'll call for a one-on-one. They'll bite because they think I'm just a space-wielding coward. In a solo showdown, I still have a chance."
At that time, Earl and Henry thought Steven was crazy.
Because according to the data, Charles was almost a perfect warrior.
But Steven just explained, "I have my reasons for doing this. You just need to hold off the others."
With Earl's super powerful ice abilities, this was certainly possible.
Steven stared at Charles. "Charles, got the guts to duel me?"
