Chapter 456 A Contest of One Move

Daron and Oliver's showdown was bound to happen.

Both of them wanted to show off their power, and nobody around was gonna step in to stop them.

Even though Daron's words dripped with disdain, his eyes were dead serious, not underestimating Oliver one bit.

This fight was all about the pride of the Silvercrest District; they had to come out on top!

But both Daron and Oliver knew the deal—this fight couldn't end in death.

Otherwise, it would mess up the balance between their groups, screwing up any chance of working together.

Daron raised his hands, getting into a fighting stance. Suddenly, his body started glowing with a silvery-gray light. His skin looked like it turned to steel.

Daron, with his Strengthening System ability called "Forging Steel," could make his body as tough as metal, making him a beast in both defense and attack.

Seeing Daron's ability confirmed his guess, Oliver smirked.

Henry, watching from a distance, couldn't help but comment, "That guy from Silvercrest is in trouble! Oliver's ability is super weird and perfect for countering close combat."

He'd been on the receiving end of Oliver's power before. If it weren't for some help, Oliver might've choked him out!

So yeah, he was still pretty freaked out by Oliver.

Lily glanced at Daron's stance and said, "But the other guy's no slouch either. You can tell by his breathing and movements."

No one knew how it would end; fights between Psychics were unpredictable, all about adapting on the fly.

Oliver held his breath, signaling Daron to make the first move.

Basically, he was saying, "Bring it on."

Daron sneered. Even though he knew going first might expose a weakness, he didn't care.

In the next moment, he charged at Oliver.

Everyone's vision blurred. Daron didn't go straight at Oliver but appeared behind him in a flash, which was beyond everyone's expectation!

He then kicked hard at Oliver's back!

Daron was too fast for Oliver to block, but he held back, not aiming for the head.

Otherwise, a headshot could be fatal!

But when Daron's foot hit Oliver, it didn't feel solid.

Oliver's body seemed to collapse like it had no bones.

Daron frowned, surprise flashing in his eyes.

The next moment, Oliver's body twisted, wrapping around Daron's right leg.

Before Daron could pull away, Oliver clung to him like a leech, winding up his thigh.

In no time, Oliver had Daron tightly bound.

He looked like a giant snake, his twisted body coiling around Daron five or six times, something you'd never expect from a human!

Seeing this, Daron immediately tried to break free from Oliver's grip.

But no matter how hard he tried, Oliver neutralized his efforts.

And every time he struggled, Oliver tightened his hold.

Daron's body, despite transformed into steel, was tightly bound and crushed.

"Stop squirming, or I might accidentally crush your bones!" Oliver's head twisted around to Daron's side, grinning.

"No matter how strong you are, once I've got you wrapped up, there's no escape! You better surrender!"

Daron sneered. His right hand morphed into an indestructible blade, slicing towards Oliver's torso.

But even a hand as hard as steel had no effect on Oliver's slippery, rubbery body. All it did was tear his clothes, revealing the smooth skin underneath.

"I told you! Strengthening System folks can only surrender when they face me! If you don't behave, I'll break your bones!" Oliver laughed heartily.

"So what if you're a Psychic from Silvercrest District? Don't underestimate us!"

Daron was tightly bound, unable to move his hands and feet. The onlookers almost all believed he was done for, facing such a tough opponent.

Henry couldn't help but swallow, recalling his own experience, shaking his head and saying, "It's over."

But just then, Daron, who was tightly bound, suddenly turned his head and opened his mouth towards Oliver's head. A sharp dagger shot out from his mouth, hitting Oliver's left eye precisely!

Blood splattered.

Oliver screamed in pain. The intense pain made him lose his grip on Daron.

Daron exerted more force, flinging Oliver away.

Oliver, enduring the pain, stood firm on the ground, his remaining eye filled with venom as he glared at Daron.

Daron laughed heartily, "I thought your eyeballs could turn into rubber too!"

He licked his lips, revealing a trace of blood on his tongue. But Daron didn't spit it out; instead, he swallowed it.

Turns out, the dagger he spat out was his tongue!

Henry couldn't help but exclaim, "He can even strengthen his tongue, turning it into a dagger to pierce Oliver's eyeball!"

The sudden turn of events shocked everyone. They thought Oliver had won, but no one expected such a reversal.

Covering his injured eye, Oliver gritted his teeth and asked, "How did you know my weakness?"

Daron laughed, "Your body can turn into rubber, but if your eyes did too, wouldn't you be blind?"

Eyes can see because they receive light and transmit it to the optic nerve. But if Oliver's eyes deformed, the light would distort, making him effectively blind. So Daron figured out Oliver's weakness was his eyes. And he was right.

"You better go heal! If you're late, you might lose your life!" Daron taunted Oliver.

In such a cold environment, getting injured was a big deal. Although Oliver was unwilling to lose, he thought if he was more careful next time and didn't expose his weakness to Daron, he would surely win!

But for now, a loss was a loss. One could even say that if Daron hadn't held back, he could have easily killed him.

Oliver, looking grim, quickly returned to the car to stop the bleeding and bandage himself.

The battle ended quickly, and the investigation team decisively and swiftly secured victory.
