Chapter 175 First Encounter
Steven pulled the bolt and squeezed the trigger.
During the brief moment he was changing guns, Earl, on the other side, seemed to sense the danger in advance.
He swung his right hand fiercely in front of him, causing a large spiral of snow and ice to fly up, forming a thick snow fog around the three of them and blocking Steven's view.
The thermal response in the tactical goggles disappeared.
Steven's gun paused for a moment. Although he still fired the bullet, his intuition told him he missed.
But he didn't stop. Instead, he opened the Dimension Door and returned Earl's Snow Tornado back to him!
Earl was stunned when he saw this. 'How can he use my skill? Is he a Copy Ninja like Kakashi?'
The Snow Tornado shattered the snow fog in the air.
Despite his waning strength, Earl marshaled every ounce of his remaining power to manipulate the snow and ice in a desperate attempt to counter the formidable force that stood against him. Steven held his gun, carefully searching for the positions of Earl and his two companions.
As soon as there was an opening, he would instantly snipe them!
The snow and ice clashed in the air, producing a deep, muffled explosion.
Following that, snow fog filled the air, like dust rising everywhere, spreading over the Mississippi River.
All visibility was blocked, and he had no chance to shoot.
Steven frowned.
From this brief exchange, Steven understood that the opponent was not skilled in using his abilities.
Moreover, his power had significantly weakened the second time he attacked.
If Steven drove over now, there was a high chance he could kill the opponent!
However, out of his usual caution, Steven chose not to do so.
First, across the river was Cox Town, and the Psychic controlling the snow and ice was definitely from Cox Town. Crossing over would undoubtedly mean stepping directly into their territory, where their presence was pervasive. Venturing there would likely result in being swiftly encircled by their community, leaving Steven vulnerable and at their mercy.
Second, this was their home turf, and there might be traps Steven didn't know about. There was no need to risk his life.
Third, Elinor was still in the car.
After weighing the pros and cons, Steven put away his large-caliber sniper rifle.
He cautiously took a few steps back and then got on the snowmobile.
'If you have the guts, come after me for revenge! But next time, it will be on my turf,' he thought to himself.
Steven didn't linger in the fight but quickly drove the snowmobile away, heading towards Emerald Estate.
On the other side of the Mississippi River, Earl was terrified, his eyes full of fear.
Since awakening his supernatural ability, he had helped Cox Village establish dominance in Cox Town.
People from the surrounding villages were all obedient to him.
For the first time, his ability was thoroughly defeated, and he almost lost his life here!
"The plot shouldn't be like this! Aren't I the protagonist?" Earl wanted to cry out loud.
A buddy next to him, whose thigh was pierced by a stray bullet, reached out to him. "Earl, stop lamenting. Hurry up and take me back. I'm not going to make it!"
Earl showed a bitter face. "You're not going to make it? I'm not going to make it either!"
The recent battle had drained him significantly.
Such extraordinary abilities were not easy to use.
The uninjured buddy sighed deeply. "Stop talking, both of you. You just want me to take you both back, right?"
He reluctantly supported them both and struggled to walk back to Cox Village.
Steven and Elinor left without encountering any further obstacles.
This battle had yielded valuable gains for him.
After all, it was his first fight with a Psychic, giving him more insight into using his abilities.
'When I get back, I must train my abilities well. The future world might belong to the Psychics!'
Steven was firm in this thought.
Elinor, looking at his serious expression and thinking about the recent battle, patted her ample chest with lingering fear.
"That was so scary. Thank goodness you were there! By the way, did you kill that guy?" she asked.
Facing Elinor's curious question, Steven shook his head. "The distance was too far, and it was nighttime. It wasn't easy to pursue. But that guy must have been scared out of his wits. He won't dare to come after me easily."
Steven's most effective attack method was his gun.
When dealing with Psychics, a sniper rifle was the best choice.
Given his abilities, the most suitable combat style was defensive counterattack or ambush sniping.
Elinor was a bit worried. "Will he come for revenge later? Judging by his abilities, he should be a Psychic who can control snow and ice from a distance."
"Maybe a snowstorm will come and bury our place," she said.
Steven smiled faintly. "You don't need to worry about that. Our new shelter is absolutely safe. Even if it's buried in snow, it won't affect our lives."
He added, "And with my abilities, we don't fear his attacks."
Steven's supernatural ability could rebound all physical attacks, making it an absolute defense.
With Steven's explanation, Elinor smiled with relief.
The two of them arrived at Emerald Estate, and Steven took her back to the villa.
Looking at the huge black villa standing in the snow, Elinor was stunned, and her eyes were filled with anticipation.
This was much more impressive than the previous safe house!
Steven opened the door and led Elinor inside through the passage.
"Turn on the lights!" He gave the command, and the lights in the living room immediately lit up.
The luxurious living room, illuminated by the bright lights, looked even more opulent.
The nine-tiered crystal chandelier overhead was a high-end import, costing over a million dollars.
Expensive things naturally had their merits. At night, it shimmered with golden light, a magnificent piece of art.
Even Elinor, a lady from a well-off family, was captivated by the beautiful scene, her eyes sparkling with joy and curiosity. "Is this our new home? It's so beautiful!"
Steven checked his phone and looked at the surveillance of Nora.
She was lying on the bed, wearing only a set of black, sexy lace lingerie, lost in thought.
Unaware of being watched, she was completely relaxed, her legs spread wide on the bed.
That lazy posture, combined with her sexy figure, was incredibly enticing.
Steven smiled slightly and said to Elinor, "Wait here for me!"
The two women in the house had to meet. Steven planned to introduce Nora to Elinor.
Elinor nodded and sat on the sofa, curiously looking around the room.
Steven then went to the basement, Nora's room.
