Chapter 218 Ignoring
"Run!" Aubrey yelled, her voice shaking with fear.
Out of nowhere, this massive black monster showed up outside the gym. If Aubrey hadn't spotted it, no one would have even known it was there.
How could something so huge move so quietly?
Run? But where?
By the time everyone realized what was happening and started screaming and running in all directions, the monster's claws had already smashed through the reinforced windows and reached inside.
This thing had a 20-foot-long arm with claws sharp as steel knives, and its hair looked like steel spikes.
Its giant claw started grabbing at anything it could reach.
If it weren't so deadly, it might've even looked a bit cute, like a cat playing with its owner.
But this wasn't a cute cat; it was a giant monster treating a bunch of terrified humans like mice.
Its razor-sharp claws slashed through the air, and a few people were instantly torn open, their guts spilling out.
The screams were horrifying, especially since they came from their classmates.
Warren and a few others, though scared, had been ready for this.
They'd been hiding in the back, and now, to save themselves, they grabbed a few unlucky ones and shoved them forward.
One wasn't enough, so they pushed another, and if two weren't enough, they pushed two more.
They were big and strong, and they'd gathered the more athletic students in the class.
Even if other classmates saw what they were doing, all they could do was curse them.
Right now, Aubrey was pushing Cindy, running as fast as she could!
Ironically, having a wheelchair was their ticket to survival.
Meanwhile, Lily, who'd been hiding and waiting for the right moment, finally made her move!
A faint blue mist started to come off her body. She gripped the scabbard with her left hand and the hilt with her right, and with a loud shout, she charged at the black monster like a bolt of lightning!
The white blade flashed through the air, aiming for the monster's neck!
Lily was putting everything she had into this fight; it was all or nothing!
If she won, it would be a hard-fought victory, but she and the students would live.
If she lost, she'd be the first to die!
The monster, too busy playing with the students, didn't see Lily's attack coming.
As she got closer, its black fur stood up like a porcupine, each hair a hard steel spike!
The piercing roar was loud enough to burst eardrums.
The monster had quick reflexes, but in that split second, Lily was just as fast!
Her blade flashed, cutting off chunks of fur that fell to the ground.
A 3-foot-long gash appeared on the monster's neck, blood splattering everywhere!
In pain, the monster quickly backed off, roaring in fury!
Lily had given up on defense, going all-in for a life-or-death strike against the monster.
The monster retreated 33 feet, but she stayed on it like a shadow, her blade coming down from above!
The monster saw the death in Lily's eyes, a death she was willing to embrace if it meant taking him down.
Its roars grew more desperate as it tried to defend and counterattack.
Lily's broadsword had incredible power; she had been practicing killing techniques.
A master of over three hundred attack skills, she focused on the most powerful combat moves!
No fancy stuff, just pure killing moves!
The fight between Lily and the monster was raging outside.
Snow walls crumbled, and the walls were marked with deep cracks from both Lily's blade and the monster's claws.
Inside the gym, the students were frozen with fear, listening to the chaos outside.
They saw the cracks forming on the walls, some from Lily's blade, some from the monster's claws.
All they could do was silently pray for Lily to win.
She was their only shot at survival!
As Lily and the black monster clashed, Steven and his two buddies finally found the exit, drawn by the noise.
Steven, Henry, and Earl's sudden appearance caught the attention of both Lily and the monster.
Lily thought, 'Who are these guys? They must be from outside the school!'
Hope flickered in her eyes. 'If they're from outside, maybe they're here to rescue us!'
After all, the students here were from wealthy and powerful families.
She shouted to Steven and his crew, "Quick, help me take down this monster!"
Earl, ready to jump in, raised his hand to help.
But Steven stopped him.
"Mr. Rogers?" Earl looked at Steven, puzzled.
In a fight between humans and monsters, he figured it was only right to help the humans.
So he didn't get why Steven stopped him.
"Hold on!" Steven said, eyes locked on Lily.
'What a sharp blade technique!' he thought. 'She must've trained in killing techniques from a young age to be this good!'
From Steven's perspective, Lily was no TV show master; she was the real deal.
And her strength and speed were off the charts, definitely not normal.
Another Psychic, and a powerful one at that!
Steven couldn't tell if she was friend or foe.
Plus, he was here to find someone, not to save random people.
That giant black monster was no joke either; if Earl acted rashly, they could all be in danger.
No need to risk it.
So Steven coldly said, "No need to help; she seems to be handling it fine. Let's go rescue the others!"
With that, Steven headed towards the gym.
Earl paused, scratched his head, and thought Steven made sense.
He'd wanted to help because Lily was young and pretty. But he paused, his mind racing. Was it worth the risk? He didn't know her, and failing against that monster would be a humiliation.
"I'd rather not be annoying!" Earl muttered.
He ignored Lily's plea and followed Steven.
Henry, seeing Lily's blade technique, also felt a bit intimidated.
He could fight with his military training, but seeing Lily, he knew he'd be the one to fall in a fight.
'She's dangerous; better keep my distance,' he thought.
Henry was kind but not blindly so. Seeing Lily wasn't in mortal danger, he decided to follow Steven to find the others.
Lily was stunned. 'Are these three seriously ignoring me? And they're heading into the gym; what are they going to do to my students?'
"What are you doing?" Lily shouted anxiously.
But she couldn't afford to be distracted; she had to focus all her energy on the giant monster in front of her.
She could only watch helplessly as Steven and his companions entered the gym.
