Chapter 213 She's a Warrior
The three students, cornered by the monster, shot daggers at Muhammad and Chris.
"Jerks!!!" they yelled.
Muhammad and Chris, knowing their time was almost up, laughed through bloodied lips. "None of you are getting out of this alive! If we're going down, we're all going down together!"
The monster, thrilled with its new playthings, wagged its big black tail and scratched the ground with its massive claws.
Just as the monster was fully focused on the two groups, Warren and his buddies, who had been waiting for the right moment, bolted out of the gym!
Their faces lit up with the relief of a narrow escape.
Warren smirked, "Sorry, but I'd rather you guys die than all of us."
His friends chimed in, "Warren, you're a genius! Let those guys distract the monster while we make a run for it."
As they sprinted, Warren explained, "I always thought it looked like a mutated cat."
He went on, "Cats love to play. They toy with their prey before eating it, and unless they're starving, they don't care much for dead mice."
Inside the gym, the monster noticed a few "little mice" had escaped.
But it didn't mind; there were still plenty of "little mice" left.
This gym was like its personal buffet.
Other students, huddled in the corners, watched Warren and his group with envy.
Some tried to copy Warren and sneak out.
But the monster was now on high alert and wasn't about to let them get away.
Two sharp sounds echoed, louder than before.
The monster seemed to have grown tired of playing and wasn't sparing any more lives.
Its massive black claw came down, leaving only two mangled bodies on the floor.
Several female students screamed in terror, clutching their heads in despair.
Just then, an angry shout rang out, "Damn monster, don't you dare hurt my students!"
Hearing this, the previously hopeless students' eyes lit up with hope.
"Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Evans is back!"
At the gym door stood a tall woman with a high ponytail.
With an ancient, sharp broadsword in her right hand, she charged at the monster.
Where the blade swept, a strange ripple followed, and the blade itself glowed faintly blue.
This furious strike was so fast and dangerous that the black monster didn't want to mess with it.
It let out a chilling screech and quickly dodged to the side.
Lily saw the pile of bodies on the ground, her eyes filled with deep sorrow.
But seeing the students huddled in the corner, she decided not to fight the monster here.
Lily slowly moved inside the gym, leaving the door open.
The monster understood Lily's intention, a sinister smile on its lips, and then it lowered its head to bite a student's corpse, its huge body slipping outside the gym.
Lily, gripping the broadsword with both hands, cautiously stepped outside.
But once outside, she saw no trace of the monster, only the messy snow tunnels it had dug.
Lily let out a long sigh of relief, but an overwhelming fatigue washed over her.
How long could she keep playing this cat-and-mouse game and protect her students?
In just over a month, more than half of her students had died.
Maybe one day, everyone would die here, including herself.
Lily sheathed her broadsword, and Michelle walked over, weakly saying, "Mrs. Evans."
Their eyes fell on a snakeskin bag at Lily's feet.
Lily said softly, "Distribute the food to everyone."
After that, she found a corner, hugged her broadsword, and closed her eyes to rest.
She was utterly exhausted.
Since the apocalypse, most people in the school had died.
Not from the cold snow disaster, but at the hands of that monster.
If it weren't for Lily's exceptional combat skills and her supernatural abilities, she would have been monster food by now.
But she had to protect so many students and constantly guard against the monster's sudden attacks, leaving her mentally and physically drained.
Michelle and a few girls took the food back and handed it out to the surviving students.
Not long after, Warren and his two buddies returned, acting like nothing had happened and went to get some food.
As for their act of inciting classmates to their deaths, it was like it had never happened.
At that moment, Heidi, who had previously stood up to scold Cindy, suddenly lost it.
Tessa was her best friend, and they had been playmates since childhood.
Tessa's death had hit her hard.
Heidi ran over and cursed at Cindy, "Why are you still alive when everyone else is dead! You're the one who should die! Why? Why don't you die!"
Cindy remained silent.
What was there to explain?
If someone wanted to blame you, they'd always find a reason.
Aubrey said indignantly, "Heidi, are you being reasonable? You can't blame Cindy for this."
Heidi, crying and stomping her feet, cursed, "I just don't like her, so what?"
Michelle tried to calm her down. "Heidi, don't be like this."
Saying this, she took out some food and handed it to Cindy, saying, "Cindy, eat something."
Seeing this, Heidi knocked the food to the ground.
Heidi said viciously, "Don't waste food on her! The school's food supply is limited. This cripple will be eaten sooner or later, so it's better to save the food for those who are useful!"
Lily, who had her eyes closed, slowly opened them.
Seeing the conflict among the students, she helplessly closed her eyes again.
She was too tired, and such things happened almost every day.
Every day, someone would go mad, and someone would argue or even fight because they couldn't bear the immense pressure.
She no longer had the energy to deal with these matters and had to focus all her efforts on fighting the elusive monster.
As long as the students weren't about to kill each other, she wouldn't intervene.
Heidi continued to make a scene, her voice the only one echoing in the gym.
In a corner, a girl sitting on a gymnastics mat, clutching her head, said in a broken voice, "It's pointless! It's all pointless! No matter what we do, it's useless. We're all going to die, we're all going to be eaten by that monster!"
She continued, her voice raw with anger, "Don't you understand? We're its food, its playthings. It's letting us live so it can enjoy the thrill of the hunt."
