Chapter 411 Unexpected Firepower Intensity
Steven wasn't particularly worried about Sebastian and his crew who appeared on the back mountain.
When building the fortifications, he had already considered the issue of the back mountain.
That place was easy to defend and hard to attack, and he had buried many tripwire mines on the mountainside.
If they tried to land from that place, there was no good way to clear the mines; they would just be blown to pieces.
"The enemy has appeared, prepare for battle!" Steven commanded in a deep voice over the communication channel.
Everyone in the shelter was extremely focused at this moment.
This wasn't just a fight—it was do or die!
The tank units from Emberwick Base and Silverlake Base were already advancing towards the perimeter of the shelter.
All the soldiers were fully armed, wearing combat uniforms, and holding modern weapons.
In the shadows, powerful Psychics were ready to strike at any moment.
No matter how they looked at it, they believed they would surely win this battle!
The followers of the Snowfall Cult were approaching from another direction, armed with guns and even primitive weapons like large knives and spears.
The distance was getting closer and closer. When the front row of tanks reached 1,000 feet from the fortifications, Steven suddenly shouted, "Fire!"
At the control panel, Cindy decisively pressed the button in her hand.
Facing the direction of Emberwick Base and Silverlake Base, cracks suddenly appeared on the snow wall, and the ice layer was pushed open by huge cannons and gun barrels.
In an instant, deafening gunfire and cannon blasts echoed across the front line!
Even the heavy-armored vehicles got shredded by the barrage of big-caliber cannons and tank rounds, sent flying into the ones behind them!
The deafening explosions startled all the forces!
"Cannons! Tanks! And machine guns! Where did they get these weapons?" Neil was dumbfounded.
Fortunately, his men were slow to act and hadn't approached the fortifications. Otherwise, facing such fierce firepower, everyone would have become targets!
Megan and Leonard were also shocked, unable to believe their eyes.
These heavy weapons were only possessed by West Mountain Base in the entire Starlight City.
"Could it be... they took the weapons from West Mountain Base?"
"How did they manage to do that?"
The firepower of West Mountain Base was the best in all of Starlight City!
But due to the difficulty of transporting heavy weapons, it was hard to actually use them on the battlefield.
Yet today, they had become the first to test these weapons!
"Spread out and fire back!"
No time to freak. Megan and Leonard barked orders to their guys to scatter and shoot.
But the first wave of attacks caught them off guard, and many had already been killed, with their tanks blown up!
"These fortifications are just ice walls. Bust through, and we're in. Get close to that shelter, and it's game over," Megan snapped, cool as ever.
Sure, they got blindsided, but she wasn't sweating it. Alexander had tipped her off—no weapons in that shelter, just a tough shell.
Crack the outside, and victory's practically in the bag!
The soldiers on the tanks, fearing being blown up, quickly grabbed their weapons and jumped off.
But as soon as they left the tanks, they became easy targets for Steven.
Steven calmly stood in the attic, using Dimension Door to shield the window, and began sniping.
The process of sniping the enemies was somewhat monotonous.
Just aim, pull the trigger, and reload.
Every time he repeated this action, a soldier's life was taken.
Since the apocalypse, Steven had become so proficient with the sniper rifle that it was second nature.
On average, he killed one ordinary soldier every three seconds!
For Emberwick Base and Silverlake Base, the losses were devastating because they hadn't anticipated Steven having so many heavy weapons!
Their modified tanks couldn't withstand the artillery fire.
Even the siege cannons they brought were destroyed on the trailers before they could be unloaded!
Up on the back mountain, Sebastian, who'd been planning to chill and watch the show, gulped hard. “Always wondered how Steven had the balls to take on so many at once. Guess he's been sitting on a damn arsenal.”
He thanked his lucky stars he'd bailed to the back to dodge the heat. But he still barked at his crew, "Alright, boys, open fire! Make it loud, but keep your shots wide—don't hit anyone!"
A bald man next to him scratched his head, "Captain Nelson, there's no one around here."
Sebastian slapped him on the head. "I said shoot, so shoot! Cut the crap! Just don't hit anyone. I'm a man of my word—we took Steven's stuff, so we've gotta put on a show. Unless those other clowns take him down, we're not piling on!"
So, gunfire erupted from the back mountain as well, making it seem like they were launching an urgent attack.
However, on the front line, the battle was very real and intense.
Emberwick Base and Silverlake Base were caught off guard by Steven, suffering heavy casualties in a short time.
Neil, worried about being suspected if he didn't act, directly ordered a group of followers to attack the fortifications.
Immediately, over a hundred followers, armed with various melee weapons and rudimentary firearms, charged at the fortifications.
In front of the shelter was a flat open area with no cover at all.
As they charged, they were gunned down by machine guns before they even got within 350 feet of the fortifications.
Neil frowned, not expecting Steven to be so ruthless, giving no quarter.
But considering that they had to act convincingly, he had to suppress his emotions.
"This won't do. We underestimated the firepower of this shelter!" Megan gritted her teeth, looking at the many soldiers who had been blown to pieces, already starting to regret it!
If they'd known Steven had this kind of heat, they would've come in way more prepared.
But seriously, who'd have thought a freakin' warehouse manager would roll with military-grade firepower in the middle of the apocalypse?
At this moment, Leonard's voice crackled through. "We've gotta team up to bust through this outer wall! Most of their firepower's gotta be focused here, and they're short on bodies. Once we break through, they're toast. Cover me, and I'll handle the rest!"
Megan immediately said, "Alright!"
Leonard's [Lord of Ice and Snow] could work wonders in such a situation.
She quickly ordered everyone, "Provide fire suppression and coordinate with Silverlake Base to attack the fortifications!"
Snowfall Cult and Frostwood Base also received their request.
Neil, with a cold face, continued to order his followers to their deaths.
Sebastian just chuckled and told his men to aim their guns at the sky.
On Silverlake Base's side, Leonard was covered in a layer of glistening ice and snow armor, then slowly merged into the icy ground.
Suddenly, the fortifications around the shelter underwent a drastic change!
Without any warning, an ice and snow wall shattered!
Sharp ice shards flew like daggers, and a cannon behind the wall was directly overturned.
"What the…?"
Steven and his crew caught the shift instantly.
No heads-up, no warning—how the hell did that happen?
Amidst the flying ice and snow, Steven saw a figure covered in thick ice and snow armor.
Leonard had a mocking smile on his lips. "In the world of ice and snow, I am the king!"
Machine guns and cannons might work against ordinary people, but they were meaningless against a powerful Ice and Snow Psychic like him!
Due to the distance, Steven couldn't use Martial Prowess.
With the fortifications breached by Leonard, the allied forces were invigorated and charged forward!
In no time, thousands of soldiers would cross the ice and snow fortifications and reach the front of the shelter.
Leonard continued his assault, pressing his right hand against the wall. His Supernatural ability activated, and the massive barrier shattered!
The steel framework in the middle lost its support and collapsed.
Even Steven couldn't help but narrow his eyes at this display of power.
Leonard's ability was far stronger than Earl's!
