Chapter 459 Annihilation
Seeing the horde of zombies coming their way, everyone felt a bit grossed out, but no one was scared.
These were the top dogs of Starlight City. A few zombies? No big deal.
But everyone had their own stuff to handle back at their bases and didn't want to waste time here.
"Damn it, they're everywhere! Has Starlight City turned into a zombie nest?" Megan grumbled.
Everyone geared up for a fight, ready to spend some time wiping out the zombies.
Leonard gave Otha and the others a heads-up. "We gotta kill all these zombies, or they'll take info about us back. Next time, it'll be even tougher!"
"Is that so?" Otha said, cool as a cucumber.
He started walking down the steps, taking off his sunglasses as he went.
When he took off his sunglasses, everyone was shocked to see his eyes weren't normal—they were a weird grayish-white, glowing in a sickly way.
It wasn't the dullness of cataracts; it was something that hit you deep inside.
Otha walked to the front of the group.
Everyone got it—the captain of the Silvercrest District investigation team was about to show his stuff.
Steven's eyes lit up; he wanted to see just how strong this captain was.
The zombie horde roared and charged, less than 1600 feet away. Everyone could see their blood-red eyes and rotting flesh clearly.
Otha looked ahead and suddenly whispered, "Annihilation!"
Next thing they knew, the space in front of them was lit up with a blazing white light.
The light was so bright, everything around them vanished, leaving only Otha's tall silhouette.
Steven raised his hand to shield his eyes and instinctively looked around.
All he could see were a few people around him and his own shadow.
Everything else was gone.
And the thousands of zombies? Gone in an instant!
After a while, the light faded, and Steven could see again.
Not just him—Megan, Leonard, and the others looked around, totally confused.
They'd almost lost their sight for a moment.
Leonard suddenly raised his right hand, pointing forward in shock. "Look!"
Everyone followed his finger and saw no trace of the zombie horde. Just a ground full of broken dust remained, blowing away in the wind.
Steven's eyes widened; he couldn't believe it. "Those thousands of zombies... all wiped out?"
To take out thousands of zombies with one strike? That was just insane.
Steven had seen many powerful Psychics. Like Charles, Megan, and Leonard. They were strong, but their powers made sense.
But Otha? His ability was off the charts.
One look, and thousands of zombies turned to dust!
What a terrifying power!
Steven once thought that after absorbing the abilities of many Psychics, he might not be the top dog, but at least among the elite.
But today, Otha showed him what's what. If he had to face Otha, could Dimension Door really hold up against such a terrifying force?
The place was dead silent; no one dared to speak, and everyone was barely breathing.
They were all still reeling from what just happened.
Lanny turned to Daron and said, "The Captain told us to keep a low profile, but he's the one seriously showing off!"
Daron replied, "Maybe he thinks you're right. Only by showing enough strength can he make them follow orders willingly."
They had a point.
Before, Leonard, Megan, Sebastian, and the others followed Otha's orders out of fear of Silvercrest District.
But now, after seeing Otha's power, they didn't dare to have any complaints.
Otha slowly put his big sunglasses back on. But then, he suddenly covered his mouth and started coughing violently.
Theron walked over, looking worried, "Captain, you should've let us handle this. No need for you to step in personally!"
Otha stood up straight and said coldly, "Everyone's busy; we can't waste time here."
Steven noticed Otha clenched his right fist and then put it into the pocket of his black coat.
'Looks like he's got some health issues,' Steven thought.
But with Silvercrest District's resources, it couldn't be a common injury or illness.
So, Otha's condition must be something serious. Could it be a terminal illness? Or maybe his injury was tied to his Supernatural ability?
Steven had a lot of guesses running through his mind.
Otha turned to the stunned crowd and said, "Alright, everyone, you can go back now. Stay in touch. When I contact you, you must cooperate immediately."
Leonard and the others quickly nodded, their eyes now full of admiration, and their tone much softer.
Everyone said their goodbyes to Otha and left the SC Central Building.
Steven could tell everyone was still in shock from Otha's display. His Supernatural ability was on a whole different level from everyone else in Starlight City!
Steven walked up to Otha with a smile and asked, "Mr. Soderberg, are you feeling unwell? I can introduce you to a doctor if you want."
Otha smiled faintly and said, "It's nothing, just an old problem. A little rest will do."
Steven thought, 'No need to see a doctor? Looks like my guess is right; it must be an incurable disease or damage from his Supernatural ability.'
He didn't push the topic further. "It's pretty cold here; why don't you all come to my place?"
Otha smiled and nodded. "That sounds good. I have a lot to discuss with you!"
Only when talking to Steven did Otha have a smile on his face.
This surprised not only Earl, Lily, and Henry but also the other members of the investigation team.
But everyone got into the car, with Steven and his group leading the way to the shelter.
In the investigation team's car.
After getting in, Lanny couldn't wait to ask Otha, "Captain, why are you so nice to that Steven? Is he your long-lost illegitimate son?"
The car erupted in laughter.
Otha's lips curled slightly, but it was barely noticeable. He was used to Lanny's quirky way of speaking and didn't take it too seriously.
He said to Lanny and the others, "That Steven is not simple! I can feel that his strength is very formidable, not like the leaders of other factions. He might be a promising talent!"
