Chapter 302 Relocate
Steven got everyone together to break the news.
When they heard about the possible missile attack, anxiety hit the roof.
Regular missiles might not pack more punch than 1100 pounds of TNT.
But Peter knew the shelter's strength, so he'd definitely go for something that could bust through its outer layer.
If that happened, they'd be in serious trouble.
Sure, there were even more powerful missiles, but it seemed unlikely they'd use those here.
"Does he really have that kind of firepower?" Cindy asked bluntly. "If he did, wouldn't he have used it already? Why wait until now after taking so many hits?"
Steven shrugged. "He doesn't have it, but the Silvercrest Military District is in Teksbo City, close to Starlight City. They probably have missile control. Peter's got some pull in Starlight City, so it's not impossible he could get his hands on one. Whether he's bluffing or not, I can't gamble with our lives."
Steven shrugged again. "So, everyone, pack up! We're outta here!"
Elinor's eyes lit up. "Are we heading back to Sunshine Community?"
The only place they could go was Sunshine Community, where Steven's old safe house was.
Even with more people, the three-bedroom, two-living-room place could still fit them.
Steven nodded with a smile. "Yep! We'll move there first and then figure things out."
Everyone agreed with Steven's plan.
For safety, he couldn't take any chances. But looking at this perfect shelter, everyone felt a bit bummed.
This five-story shelter was like a palace; who wouldn't want to stay here?
Earl sighed, "Man, I barely got to enjoy this place!"
Steven patted his shoulder with a grin. "Don't worry too much. We still don't know if he really has missiles!"
Cindy rolled over to Steven and gave him a knowing look. "If our undercover agent pulls through, we could get all the intel on West Mountain Base."
Steven blinked, thought for a moment, then smiled, "If she pulls it off, that'd be awesome!"
Everyone went to pack their stuff.
The shelter was loaded with top-notch luxury items Brock had left behind.
Steven had also used the best stuff from the warehouse for everyone.
The place was decked out with high-end furniture, wine, collectibles, and gaming consoles, all from big brands.
So, knowing the place might get hit by missiles, everyone was reluctant to leave and wanted to take everything.
Steven quickly stopped them from trying to haul everything out.
Even though he had the extradimensional space to stash stuff quickly, the women's miscellaneous items were just too much.
To avoid Peter suddenly launching an airstrike, Steven told them to pack the essentials quickly and leave with him.
So, everyone just grabbed the essentials and stuffed them into Steven's extradimensional space.
"Don't be so bummed out! We can always get what we need from stores later. Even the priciest jewelry is worthless now. What's there to miss?" Steven said with a chuckle, finding their behavior pretty amusing.
"Yeah, but those things are really nice!" Elinor said wistfully, resting her chin on her hand. "They hold a lot of our good memories!"
"What kind of memories?" Steven asked.
Elinor blushed a bit and whispered in his ear, "The sofa, dining table, toilet, bathtub at home... all have special memories!"
Steven's eyes lit up. "I get it. But don't worry, we can always make new memories."
Elinor finally smiled.
After packing the important stuff, Steven led them out of the shelter.
Except for Steven, Fluffy, and Earl, the other women hadn't been outside in a long time.
They wanted to take a deep breath of fresh air but almost froze their mouths.
"So cold, so cold!" Nora said, covering her mouth with a pout. "It's freezing out here, and the air sucks. I really don't want to be outside!"
Steven laughed. "Of course! You didn't think the air outside would be fresh, did you?"
"Most of the plants outside are dead, the air is getting thinner, and it lacks that fresh smell."
"Really?" Nora blinked her big eyes, full of curiosity. "If that's the case, won't the whole Earth run out of oxygen?"
Cindy sneered, "Even if all the plants die, there are other ways to produce oxygen. Otherwise, where did the oxygen come from before plants existed on Earth?"
When it came to knowledge, Nora didn't dare argue with Cindy.
Steven said, "We should thank Nora. If it weren't for her carefully cultivating so many plants in the shelter, we wouldn't be enjoying fresh air."
The large garden in the shelter was meticulously maintained by Nora. Steven and the others often went to see the flowers and plants, always finding mental relaxation from the greenery.
Hearing Steven speak up for her, Nora felt touched, and her gaze softened. But thinking about the plants left in the shelter that couldn't be taken, she looked worried.
After all, she had nurtured each of those plants herself. If they died, she would be heartbroken.
Seeing this, Steven comforted her, "Don't be too sad. I have plenty of seeds here. We can plant them in your fertile soil later."
Nora's eyes lit up with excitement, and she quickly said, "I will definitely cultivate your seeds well!"
The people around them felt something was off about this conversation.
But before they could think more about it, Steven took out two snowmobiles and called everyone to get on.
Steven drove one, and Aubrey drove the other.
Her driving skills were top-notch, even better than Steven's.
Plus, she had previously modified the two snowmobiles, adding steel plates and bulletproof glass, giving them some bulletproof capabilities.
"Let's go, we're heading out!" Steven started the vehicle and led the way toward the long-missed Sunshine Community.
