Chapter 26 The Struggle Between Two Jerks

With no reply to their request, the neighbors finally realized that they had been deceived by Clara!

Suddenly, the chat group was filled with insults towards Clara.

However, from the moment Clara decided to deceive the neighbors, she had already stopped caring about her image. Of course, she wouldn't care about how the neighbors cursed at her.

Yet, someone had their eyes on the goods she had deceived, for example, Andrew!

Although Apocalypse had arrived five days ago, no one knew the actual situation outside.

So, they hadn't reached the point of fighting desperately for supplies.

In Steven's memory, Andrew later led a group to loot others' belongings, even resorting to violence.

But for now, he wasn't planning to seize the neighbors' supplies by force.

After all, not everyone was crazy like him; he had a bit of brains.

Even Steven had shot off one of his legs, Andrew didn't dare to continue breaking into Steven's house without absolute certainty.

Now, Andrew's supplies at home were also running low.

After all, someone like Andrew didn't have the habit of hoarding supplies at home.

His fridge was filled with beer, but the beer had long frozen into ice, which couldn't satisfy hunger. If he wanted a drink, he could only smash the ice cubes and gnaw on them.

Clara's actions caught his eye.

Clara had promised to collect supplies and distribute them fairly.

Although he had scorned Clara's words, it was now obvious that Clara had obtained some of the neighbors' supplies through deception.

That gave him a legitimate reason to take them back!

Even after the thaw, if the matter was brought up again, Clara wouldn't dare to do anything due to her guilty conscience.

So, Andrew picked up his phone and called Clara.

At that moment, Clara was at home, happily eating cookies with her grandson Jack.

As for bread, she had to wait for the brief power-on time each day to heat it with boiled water.

Suddenly, the phone rang urgently.

"Grandma, someone call you!"

Jack pointed at the phone.

Clara snorted, her eyes full of disdain.

She was sure it was the neighbors she had deceived calling.

She felt no guilt towards those fools, considering them all idiots.

But when she picked up the phone and saw the caller's name, a look of fear crossed her face.

"Andrew? What does he want with me?"

Andrew was notorious for being extremely ruthless, not just having many underlings but also rumored to have a powerful background.

He was not someone her position as a small Neighborhood Committee member could provoke.

Clara answered the call.

Andrew's voice came through. "Hey, Mrs. Lewis! You're quite skilled, managing to get everyone's supplies into your hands."

Upon hearing "supplies," Clara became alert.

She coughed, "As a member of the Neighborhood Committee, managing supplies for everyone is my responsibility."

Andrew chuckled, "Well, that's perfect. We're running low on supplies at home, so you better bring them to me soon!"

Clara's face stiffened. She hadn't expected this thug to come and deceive her for supplies!

She seemed to forget that she had used shameless means to deceive supplies from other neighbors.

Although Clara didn't dare to provoke Andrew, she was unwilling to hand over the supplies she had acquired to ensure her and her grandson's survival.

Summoning her courage, she said, "I still need to coordinate these supplies. And some households haven't turned in their share, so I can't distribute them yet."

Andrew was getting impatient.

Clara was clueless; she was trying to deceive him!

He angrily said, "You old woman, you better listen to me right away!"

"You've hoarded those things, haven't you?"

"Let me tell you, you better hand over the supplies to me willingly. Otherwise, I'll come and take them myself!"

Clara's face turned pale with fear, unsure of what to say.

She was always a bully who backed down when faced with resistance from ordinary homeowners, sharp-tongued and unreasonable.

But she had no idea how to communicate with someone like Andrew.

She could only muster the courage to say, "What do you want? I warn you, don't mess with me! I'm a member of the neighborhood committee!"

Andrew laughed even harder, "Fuck, what a piece of trash. You act like you're so important. If you don't give them to me, I'll come over and take them myself!"

After saying that, Andrew hung up the phone.

Due to the extreme cold these days, he had called several of his men to his house.

On one hand, having more people could provide warmth. On the other hand, many people had fallen ill after Steven poured cold water on them, so someone had to take care of them.

Thirdly, Andrew still had some brains.

He realized that the situation was getting out of hand, so he concentrated his manpower.

When necessary, having people on his side would give him absolute authority!

But with so many people, they needed to eat.

After hanging up the phone, he directly called his men, and then they rushed towards Clara's house.

Andrew leaned on a mop like a cane, holding a baseball bat in one hand, aggressively charging towards Clara's door.

Steven, sitting on the sofa, legs propped up on the coffee table, munching on potato chips while watching TV, saw the scene clearly through the surveillance camera.

"Well, it looks like we're about to witness an exciting drama of bad guys fighting bad guys!"

Steven chuckled.

It was only the fifth day of the apocalypse, and he didn't expect such an entertaining show, especially with both sides being people he despised.

Steven was in a very good mood.

Suddenly, he thought of those foolish neighbors who had been deceived by Clara.

Based on his past life memories and his understanding of these neighbors.

Even after experiencing this incident, there would still be people falling for Clara's trick one after another.

There was no way around it; people always had a sense of luck, and the people of The Astralium Kingdom, due to millennia of ideological indoctrination, would instinctively choose to obey Clara, representing the Neighborhood Committee.

In this way, they would only be further bullied by Clara.

Steven rubbed his chin. "What if I share what's happening here in the group? I wonder what will happen then?"

Steven's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "It's going to be quite exciting!"

So, he pressed the record button.

After Andrew and his men arrived at Clara's house, they began loudly berating her, demanding that she open the door.

Sunshine Community was a mid-range neighborhood, and every household had installed security doors.

But as everyone knew, security doors were meant to deter thieves, not withstand a forceful break-in.

Clara's house was no Steven's house.

Although it was clear that Clara was desperately trying to block the door, the door lock that could prevent theft couldn't stop a group of excited thugs.

They used baseball bats, steel bars, and crowbars to smash the door lock, quickly breaking it.

It was evident that they had done this kind of thing many times before.

After breaking the door lock, the tables and sofas Clara had used to block the door were no match for them.

Through the camera, Steven saw the terror written on Clara's pale face.
