Chapter 351 Lily's Breakdown

Lily, in a fit of rage, kicked open the wooden board blocking the door.

The two people inside the room were startled. Warren, who was engaged in a disgraceful act on the bed, suddenly turned his head to look.

Seeing that it was Lily, his face immediately turned a bit pale. "Ms. Evans! What are you doing here?" he exclaimed.

Lily looked at the expressionless Ashley in front of him and then at the half-eaten takeout on the table, instantly understanding everything.

Lily's mind went blank. The excessive anger and shock left her unable to think.

Her student, the one she had painstakingly protected in the apocalypse, was using the food she had struggled to provide for such a thing?

Warren was stunned on the spot. He had no idea why Lily would suddenly come here. He gritted his teeth. Since things had come to this, he might as well come clean.

After all, Lily was soft-hearted. Maybe she could forgive him.

"Ms. Evans, I'm a young man with my own needs. I hope you can understand. Besides, I didn't force her. She was willing. Right? Say something!" He patted Ashley's face.

Ashley stared blankly at Lily, then numbly nodded.

Even though they were caught doing such a thing, there was no trace of shame in Ashley's eyes.

Now, Ashley only hoped to survive. Morality and shame had long been thrown aside.

Lily's face was expressionless. The excessive shock and anger left her unsure of what to do.

She just coldly looked at Warren and asked, "Didn't you say there wasn't enough food? Then why are you using it for this?"

Warren's face changed slightly. He couldn't let Lily know how the food came about.

After Lily left, the order among the students became simple: the strongest ruled.

Warren, being tall and strong, gathered a few capable students and forcefully controlled the entire group.

So not only could he eat his fill, but he also had extra food to trade for the services of women in Cox Town.

Warren gritted his teeth and shouted at Lily, "Ms. Evans, can't you just provide us with food? Why do you care so much? Anyway, you can only give us insufficient food. Don't we have to find ways to survive ourselves? In that case, what we do with the food is none of your business, right?"

Lily was struck as if by lightning, stumbling back several steps. Her chest heaved violently, and she pointed at Warren, unable to speak for a long time.

"Ms. Evans, can you leave? You're disturbing me!" Warren was very displeased at being interrupted.

He knew Lily's soft-hearted nature. Even if he did this, Lily wouldn't have the heart to let him die. After all, he was her student. How could kind-hearted Lily bear to see her student die in the apocalypse?

Lily closed her eyes and turned to rush out. She took off her hat, letting the cold snow blow on her face, but no amount of cold snow could match the chill in her heart.

Lily left Cox Town. Steven was eating with Earl on the Mississippi River.

Seeing the disheartened Lily return, Steven smirked slightly and said mockingly, "Reality is indeed harsh, Ms. Evans."

Lily looked up at Steven without refuting him, only giving a bitter smile. "Do you think I've always been foolish?" she asked.

Then she answered her own question, "Yes, I have been foolish, really."

Steven, with his hands in his pockets, said indifferently, "Don't blame me for showing you the harsh reality. I just thought you should know the truth. But I won't interfere with what you do next. I respect your choice."

Lily just shook her head. Her mind was in turmoil, and her eyes had lost focus.

Lily walked past Steven and Earl, her body swaying as she headed toward the shelter. All she wanted now was some peace and quiet.

Earl curiously leaned over and asked, "Captain Rogers, what happened to Ms. Evans? What did she see?"

Steven glanced at Earl and said indifferently, "Her student was fooling around with women in Cox Town. If it wasn't coercion, then it was with the food she provided."

Earl's eyes widened and he exclaimed, "That's so intense! Captain Rogers, you're so unkind. You didn't let me see such a dramatic scene."

"That's your focus?" Steven chuckled and patted Earl's shoulder. "Maybe they were fooling around with your sister or aunt."

Earl snorted indifferently. "Most of my close relatives are already dead. The rest are distant relatives. I don't care about their lives."

Steven gave Earl a thumbs-up. "Broad-minded!"

Lily returned to the shelter and locked herself in her room, feeling utterly lost. She suddenly began to feel that everything she had been doing seemed meaningless.

She didn't know how long had passed when there was a knock on the door.

"Lily, are you okay?" Steven's concerned voice came from outside the door.

Lily composed herself, quickly got up from the bed, and walked over to open the door in her slippers.

When she opened the door, Steven saw her red-rimmed eyes, as if she had been crying.

It was understandable. Seeing her painstakingly protected student fall from grace, no teacher would be unhurt.

Lily said to Steven, "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well today. I won't neglect my work."

She thought Steven had come to urge her to build the defense line.

Steven shook his head and said, "It's not that urgent. It will be done in two or three days at most."

He looked down at Lily, his voice suddenly becoming gentle. "I'm worried about you, so I came to check on you."

Steven's sudden tenderness made Lily a bit uncomfortable.

"I'm fine. I just need some rest," Lily said.

Steven looked into the room and smiled, "Shall we talk here?"

Lily realized and quickly stepped aside. "Come in and sit."

Steven walked into the room and pulled up a chair. "I know today's incident hit you hard. But I hope you can look forward. The road ahead is still long. If you encounter any troubles in the future, you can talk to me. At the very least, I can be a good listener."

Women were most vulnerable to emotional advances when they were hurt. Whether it was their heart or body.

Steven didn't believe in love, but he didn't mind making a woman fall for him.

Because women were mostly emotional, if they developed feelings for a man, they were likely to be devoted.

Steven didn't intend to make Lily fall for him, but he was good at seizing the opportunity to get closer and make her more obedient in the future.
