Chapter 505 Corpse Tide, Snowfall Cult, Bloodfeeder Vine
Steven suddenly realized he hadn't checked out Neil's info yet.
He raised an eyebrow. "Does this guy even matter anymore?"
Neil had some decent skills, but after all the battles, Steven knew he was just on par with Megan, Leonard, and Sebastian.
To Steven, Neil wasn't much of a threat.
Steven said, "Natasha used to stay in the background, pretending not to handle church stuff, leaving it all to Neil. So he was just her puppet, nothing special."
Cindy's slender fingers tapped the armrest of her wheelchair.
She lazily propped her chin with one hand, tilting her head as she opened Neil's file.
"But there's still something we don't know. Is this Natasha's solo scheme, or is the whole Snowfall Cult in on it?"
"Those are two totally different scenarios! If it's the latter, we're up against a cult full of sneaky Psychics."
"But if Natasha's fooled everyone, we might be able to turn her followers against her."
Steven, hands in his pockets, thought back to the ten days he spent in the Snowfall Cult's camp.
"In that battle, the Snowfall Cult took heavy losses, with less than one in ten surviving. Even a lot of Psychics died."
"If they knew the truth and still went along with it, that'd be terrifying."
"So I think, not many people know about this. Probably just Natasha and a few others."
Cindy said to Steven, "That's why we should check out Neil's file! Maybe there's something in there."
Steven leaned in front of the screen, going through Neil's history.
Neil's life was pretty uneventful.
He was born into a middle-class family in Starlight City, pretty well-off.
His parents weren't religious, but they were neighbors with Natasha's family.
So, Neil and Natasha had known each other since they were kids, with Neil being the older one, about five years older than Natasha.
After Natasha went through that traumatic event, she disappeared.
But according to Neil's records, he also left Starlight City around the same time.
So the file included Megan's guess that they probably lived together.
Natasha, mentally shattered, was suspected to have gone to a well-known sanatorium for treatment, and Neil had always been by her side.
After reading Neil's records, Steven looked thoughtful.
"Neil must know all of Natasha's plans, they might've even conspired together.."
"As for the other Snowfall Cult members, most of them are clueless, drawn in by Natasha's 'Blessing,' and in the end, most of them died without knowing why."
Steven remembered a joke.
"You're interested in the interest they offer, but they're interested in your principal!"
"Those who joined the Snowfall Cult thought they'd get protection, but most of them ended up dead."
"And the ones left, they probably won't survive either. Especially those Psychics!"
"They were just fodder Natasha groomed for herself."
"That makes sense, it all makes sense now!" The more Steven thought about it, the clearer everything became.
"I've always said, free stuff usually comes with the highest price."
"No wonder the Snowfall Cult was so desperate to recruit followers, even when their own resources were so limited."
"These people were actually Natasha's food!"
"By doing this, they got a ton of test subjects. Jordan would pick out the talented ones, give them Frostheart to awaken their Supernatural abilities."
"Then they'd kill them in various ways, and their abilities would go back to Natasha!"
Steven's mind was getting sharper.
He remembered the battle of the five armies, where he found those empty-shell Psychics on the battlefield. He had intended to absorb their Supernatural abilities.
Turns out all their abilities went back to Natasha!
"How many Supernatural abilities has she absorbed?!"
Steven was now sure of his theory.
From the start of the apocalypse, Natasha had been scheming, and now she was the most powerful Psychic in Starlight City. Her mastermind tactics were chilling.
Steven rubbed his temples hard.
He had gotten too much info at once, and it was all tangled up in his head.
Too chaotic!
"I need to go back and think this through. Cindy, you help me too."
"What should we do to avoid being targeted by the Snowfall Cult?"
Steven had no illusions.
Natasha was willing to sacrifice tens of thousands of her followers, so she definitely wouldn't spare him.
Plus, she had sent Steven the Frostheart.
And in terms of Supernatural abilities, Steven was one of the top Psychics in Starlight City, maybe second only to her.
So for Steven, there were only two options:
Abandon the shelter and flee to Silvercrest District, or find a way to deal with Natasha, kill her, or cripple her powers, at least so she wouldn't be a threat to him.
Cindy nodded. This was a complicated issue with many unanswered questions. And this could affect the survival of the entire shelter.
They had to be careful and come up with a perfect plan.
Steven left the control room and went back to his room.
He kicked off his shoes and jumped onto his soft velvet bed.
This custom-made bed, worth millions, was super comfy.
Steven thought, 'If I really have to leave Starlight City, I must take this bed with me. No, take all the furniture I can.'
Then he found his thoughts amusing.
At a time like this, he was still thinking about a mattress.
In reality, was it the mattress he couldn't part with?
No, it was the happy and comfortable life in the shelter he couldn't part with.
But now, a huge crisis was looming, forcing him to plan ahead.
"Corpse tide, Snowfall Cult, Frostheart, Bloodfeeder Vine..."
Many words floated around in Steven's mind.
He still had many questions that hadn't been answered.
But until he figured them out, he wouldn't know what to do next.
Any battle plan must be based on two essential things—strength and intelligence.
