Chapter 353 Going Out to Find Building Materials
Steven shrugged at Cindy's words and walked over with a smile, saying, "Don't go too far. I'm not that interested in your Ms. Evans."
Cindy tilted her head and asked in confusion, "Ms. Evans is quite a beauty. If you're not interested in her, you must have high standards."
Steven stretched and said, "She's beautiful, but she's also a bit of a hassle. I hate dealing with hassles!"
But after dealing with her troublesome students, Steven might consider taking their relationship to the next level.
However, he still maintained his stance. He had a nonchalant attitude toward so-called love. Love could be a spice of life, but life would go on just fine without it.
Steven walked up to Cindy and, with a smile, told her what had happened today.
Cindy's face was full of disgust after hearing it. "Those guys are indeed capable of doing such disgusting things!" she said.
Steven said calmly, "I've already played the bad guy. Now it's your turn to be the good guy! Make sure Lily completely gives up on those guys. That way, I can deal with them without any worries."
Steven wasn't afraid of Cindy betraying him because back at Innovation Academy, Cindy had used Fluffy to kill more students.
Cindy smirked, "Alright! I should help you out, shouldn't I?"
Cindy controlled her wheelchair and headed toward Lily's room.
Steven didn't know what they talked about, but Lily's attitude toward those students would definitely change from now on.
No matter how much trust and protectiveness Lily had for them, it would gradually disappear with accumulated disappointment.
The next day, Steven prepared to take Aubrey out to find building materials to repair the shelter.
Henry asked, "Do you want us to go with you? It wouldn't be good if we ran into enemies again."
Steven shook his head. "No need. I'll take Fluffy with me. You guys stay here and continue building the defenses. Someone has to keep an eye on the place."
Steven and Fluffy went out together. Their abilities complemented each other perfectly.
As long as they didn't encounter an opponent like Charles, ordinary small groups or even Psychics wouldn't pose a threat to Steven.
Even if they encountered a strong opponent, Steven would have no problem escaping.
Henry didn't insist and said they would stay and work on the defenses.
Even without Steven, Henry's brute strength was enough to handle the heavy lifting.
They should be able to complete half of the defenses today.
It was Aubrey's first time going out on a mission with Steven, and she was very excited, her little face flushed with excitement.
Steven took out a set of combat uniforms seized from West Mountain Base and had Aubrey put it on. It had excellent bulletproof and cold-resistant properties.
Originally, Steven planned to create an advanced version of the combat uniform for everyone in the shelter.
However, the combat uniform he wore not only required a lot of materials but also took a long time to make.
Aubrey couldn't make that many in a short time.
So Steven wasn't in a hurry and let her take her time making them, prioritizing the frontline fighters.
Henry's own defense was even better than the combat uniform, so they saved the materials for one set.
Henry wore a standard version of the seized combat uniform, providing basic defense when he wasn't transformed.
Aubrey put on the white combat uniform and specifically wiped the golden sword emblem on her chest, smiling at Steven with eight gleaming teeth.
Suddenly, her expression turned serious, and she saluted Steven. "Private Aubrey is ready for combat, awaiting orders!"
Seeing her cute and playful demeanor, Steven couldn't help but pinch her nose. "Mischief-maker!"
Aubrey stuck out her tongue and asked, "Do I look cool? I feel very cool in this outfit!"
Steven nodded. "Clothes always give people illusions, especially women."
Aubrey was momentarily stunned, then quickly realized Steven was teasing her and angrily punched his shoulder.
Steven said, "Alright, let's go! The outside environment is full of uncertainties. The sooner we go, the sooner we return. Let's not delay."
Steven thought for a moment and then took out a handgun and handed it to Aubrey. "You know how to use this, right?" he asked.
Since Aubrey could make firearms, she should know how to use them.
Sure enough, Aubrey's eyes lit up, and she immediately took it and put it in the holster at her side.
The two left the shelter, and Steven took out a snowmobile, heading toward the Horizon Group's factory in the Eternal River District.
West Mountain District and Eternal River District were in the southwest of Starlight City, a bit far from the city center, so they had many industrial enterprises.
Horizon Group was the largest and most famous building materials company in Starlight City.
Not only in Starlight City, but it was also well-known nationwide.
The group maintained cooperation with foreign countries, and the building materials they sold were top-notch, mid-to-high-end products.
Steven chose this building materials company because it was close to West Mountain Base.
Secondly, and most importantly, it was the designated supplier for IronShield Security Company.
So Steven believed they would have the building materials needed for the shelter.
The vehicle moved away from the shelter.
Aubrey looked back at the receding buildings, hesitated, bit her lip, and finally asked the question she had been curious about for a long time. "Steven, about that question from yesterday, can you explain it to me now?"
Aubrey was straightforward and had been thinking about it. So now that she had the chance, she quickly asked Steven for his thoughts.
Steven glanced at her and asked with a smile, "You really dislike your other classmates, don't you?"
Aubrey didn't deny it and nodded seriously. "What they did to Cindy back then was too much!"
She paused and added, "They weren't nice to me either. Honestly, I don't want to see them, let alone live with them."
Aubrey was an outstanding student, admitted based on her academic performance and professional skills. So in terms of status, she was quite different from the other students.
During school, she had endured a lot of bullying from her classmates.
Now, she naturally didn't want to see those guys living well.
She was straightforward but not stupid.
Steven listened to Aubrey's complaints, a faint smile on his lips.
For a moment, he wanted to tell Aubrey his plan.
That was to leave those people in Cox Town and, when conflicts with other forces arose, deliberately lured others over to sacrifice them.
However, considering Aubrey's straightforward nature, she might accidentally spill the beans. If Lily found out, it could affect his relationship with her.
He didn't want to have conflicts with those around him. So, Steven changed his approach.
